The Secret Books of Paradys Kindle Edition
With these four books, together now in one collection, escape to a city known by three names—Paradys, Paradise, and Paradis—where you’ll find many strange stories and novellas exploring gender, identity, sexual transgression, and more . . .
The Book of the Damned: A poet discovers a mysterious ring that drags him into a world of vampires. A young woman’s attack sows the seeds for a civilization’s downfall. And a writer receives a cryptic note that leads her to a sinister, ancient force.
The Book of the Beast: A young scholar has just moved to Paradys to study at the university, and a beautiful phantom of a young bride begins visiting him, drawing him toward her. Soon, he will be infected with the horrific curse of the Beast . . .
The Book of the Dead: Seven stories of enchantment, misfortune, corruption, and death are in the third volume of this fantasy series, including the story of a vengeful orphan tracking down his parents’ killer only to find a treacherous nightmare.
The Book of the Mad: A labyrinth of ice connects three nightmarish versions of one city—Paradis, Paradys, and Paradise. In each of them, a story unfolds, breaking taboos, relishing horror, and conjuring the perverse.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 29, 2022I couldn’t put it down or guess the direction of the story.
What a long, strange, cohesive story.
Loved it.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 30, 2019I already own all the books in this series but hey, one can never have enough Tanith Lee. I needed this omnibus. Needed!
These stories are beautifully written, much like all of her work. Yes, I tend to reread my favorites so it's convenient having all of the stories together in one book.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 27, 2022Tanith Lee is a very good writer, but in the end this collection of related novels was just too dark for my tastes (perhaps I shouldn’t have attempted it while hospitalized and partially sedated— it was all too real).
I’d normally give something I couldn’t read many fewer stars, but in this case I cannot. It’s precisely because Lee 𝘪𝘴 so good that I couldn’t read her right now, and I knew that even as I turned to something more cheerful but of lesser quality.
Highly recommended— for those who doesn’t mind having their reading insinuate its way into their imaginations and their dreams.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 21, 2014Tanith Lee's "Secret Books of Paradys" are wonderful works of fantasy fiction. I've read all three over the years; but was delighted to read them again-- all in one book! The Book of Madness is both extremely disturbing and inspiring. Lee is a master of the fine line between What's real and what's not and all the in between. How she manages to infuse tragedies with little bits of humor and whimsy is a wonder... and a pleasure!
- Reviewed in the United States on September 22, 2019These books have been favorites of mine since my adolescence. Finally having the ability to keep them all in a single volume rather than carting them each around in hardcover is a dream. I adore nearly everything Tanith Lee has written.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 8, 2013Was very happy when I got the book. I knew it was used (library book I saw) but it is in very good condition.

3.0 out of 5 stars written pictures
Pictures written, painted with words, but the stories are boring, especially if you know other books by Tanith Lee, like the Vis cycle.

1.0 out of 5 stars Shocking
Contains casual sodomy, among other activities. Will not be reading anything else by that author. If you enjoy LGBTQA+ (etc) themes this will be well up your ... street.
