About the author
Sara K .Parker is an author and freelance writer/editor crafting stories of hope in the midst of impossible circumstances.
By weekday, she invests her time in a fast-paced job she loves in healthcare marketing and internal communications. By nights and weekends, she hangs out with her four kids, reads good books, plays the piano, runs just enough to counteract cupcakes and such, and writes (of course). After Jesus, those are the things that bring her the most joy and peace in this unpredictable life. As a recovering planaholic, worrywart, and people-pleaser, writing is as much a therapeutic outlet for her as it is a hobby and career.
Sara lives in Houston, Texas, where summer lasts half the year and nature views are scarce, so she tries to find time each year to travel - whether to a quiet retreat in Texas Hill Country, a flight back east to visit family in Maryland, or a cruise where she doesn't have to think about dinner or dishes or agendas.
Hop on over to her website, www.sarakparker.com, Facebook author page @SaraKParker.author or Instagram @sara.k.parker to connect--she loves to hear from readers and writers!

..someone else gets arrested and you're wondering "now what" because there's more book to read - then the real culprit is found!
Triss Everett works for Shield. She has gone to part time to finish her degree. She signed a contract to help at a senior center for room and board. She cut her hours at Shield to just nights on the weekends. It worked well for her as she was getting to close to one of the agents and his children. (She couldn't let him close or he might find out her secret.) Something strange was going on at the home. Four deaths in only three weeks made her suspicious. When she started asking questions someone caused an accident that almost cost her life. She would have died except for the agent she was trying to stay away from.
Shield Operative Hunter Knox is a widower with two children. He has been alone for quite some time. He thought Triss was the answer to his prayer but when they started to get close she pulled away and went back to school. He could respect that. He didn't want his children to be hurt. He goes to the funeral of one of the residence to be there for her but is late. He follows her to make sure she is safe. The back of her car burst in flames. He has only minutes to get her out. He finds her life is in danger. He must keep her safe.
A journey of heartbreak, regret, and loss. Can these two overcome their baggage and learn to trust each other and God? God has a plan for these two; a plan for a hope and a future. God has a plan for you two, a good plan and not for evil. Give Him your life and watch Him turn your world around.
First -- love that these two have a history. Not only are they Shield colleagues, but that were on the verge of something special months ago. Until Triss pulled back and dropped out of sight. A particularly painful retreat since Hunter has two young children who were negatively affected by Triss's disappearing act. And the author drove me out-of-my-mind-crazy trying to figure out what Triss was hiding -- and why it would make her run in the first place. Nothing like keeping a reader on romantical pins-and-needles for most of the read!
Then there's Hunter! (Still ironing out the kinks in my toes from all that curling!) I have such a weakness for devoted father heroes and Hunter is that -- and so much more. Despite Triss's withdrawal, he's right by her side at the first sign of trouble. All gentle protector determined to break through that wall around her heart. If only the attempts on her life would stop long enough for him to begin his wooing in earnest. Gah!
Clever mystery, intense plot and enough swoonworthy moments to keep a sensitive reader lightheaded. In other words -- sublime satisfaction guaranteed!
The story opens with an exciting scene and the suspense doesn't let up throughout. The twists and turns had me guessing who the culprit was trying to do away with the seniors who had become Triss's friends.
The relationship between Triss and Hunter was full of chemistry and angst. Triss's secret past was so heartrending I got choked up a few times. Hunter was just the right type of man for Triss, steady and dependable, willing to give her the space she needed while not giving up on her. Hunter's children Josie and Levi were adorable and added just the right amount of charm to the story. The last chapter brought the story to a satisfying conclusion and I couldn't have loved it more. Great storytelling!
