Tacker: An Arizona Vengeance Novel Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 1,471 ratings

I am not okay.

Fifteen months ago, my life was turned upside down when the plane I was piloting went down. Injured and trapped in the wreckage, I had to watch my fiancée die a painfully slow death, which is something that can really mess with your head.

Since that day, I’ve had little desire to do much of anything. Except play hockey, that is. Because that is the one place where the bad memories are banished and I can escape my pain.

But off the ice, I’m spiraling out of control. Losing the grip on my life and putting myself and my career in danger. Now, thanks to a string of bad decisions, I’ve been ordered to complete therapy in order to stay on the team.

The problem? Nora Wayne, my beautiful and somewhat unconventional therapist. I can’t buy into the brand of happy clappy crap this woman is feeding me. What could she possibly understand about the type of loss that I’ve suffered? How does she know anything about finding happiness after losing the most important person in your life?

Turns out, I’ve got a lot to learn, and she’s just the person I need to break through those walls I’ve erected.

I am not okay.
But for the first time in a long time, I know that I will be.

TISSUES ARE A MUST!!!!
I knew Tacker’s story was going to be a sad one but I didn’t expect Nora’s past to absolutely crush me. I have been wanting Tacker's story since I first met him at the beginning of the series. Tacker suffered a great loss and blamed himself for it, we have been fed little bits and pieces throughout each of the books in the series and since they overlap I suggest reading them in order, and he stole my heart more and more with each morsel we learned out about him. Now Tacker has gotten himself in a bit of trouble and instead of the team owner cutting him loose he requires him to go to therapy. Nora, WOW, she is nothing at all like I had expected. I knew it would take a strong person to help Tacker deal with his past but damn this woman rocks. I am not going to tell you anything about her other than she is Tacker's therapist and there is an instant connection between the two of them. I thought my heart broke when I heard about Tacker's past but if that was the case Nora's past stomped it to pieces. I am telling you now TISSUES ARE A MUST!!!! I have been really enjoying this series watching each of these men find the woman of their dreams but what I think I enjoy most of all is the overlapping of the stories so you see different points of views during different events that are going on. I would highly suggest reading this series in order of release, they do not end with a cliffhanger and each book is based around one main couple but if you skip around you may miss something or it may spoil something for you. Happy Reading!!! **I have voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Readers Copy of this book for my Blog, Nadine's Obsessed with Books**

Tacker was one of my most anticipated books of the year and it was completely worth the wait! This beautiful tormented man deserved to find a happy future and Nora is a wonderful partner for him in so many ways.

After being helpless to stop his fiancee's death and forced to watch it happen right before his eyes when their plane crashed, Tacker stopped living his life. A serious case of survivor's guilt grips him, and his self destructive behavior has reached a breaking point. Hockey is the one last thing that he cares about in his life, and if he doesn't get some professional help he will have that taken away from him too. Despite his behavior and attempts to push away anyone who cares about him, his teammates rally around him to give him that extra push he needs to take the lifeline being extended by team owner Dominik Carlson.

Nora has suffered extreme loss in her life too, and it eventually led her to her current profession. Her form of therapy involves working on a ranch with horses and other animals, and the shift from a traditional therapist's office is exactly what Tacker needs to finally face his demons. At first he can't believe anyone can possibly be that upbeat and sunny all the time, but once he learns her backstory and the amount of adversity she has overcome, he is convinced to open his mind- and heart.

Of course personal relationships between a client and therapist are a breach of ethics so once they start to realize feelings have moved out of professional territory, decisions have to be made. Do they take a chance on finding happiness together, and are they each ready to risk their heart after all they have been through?

The evolution of Tacker and Nora's relationship felt oh so right based on their individual histories, and I loved every moment of it! Every heartbreaking and frustrating moment was wonderfully offset by heartwarming, hopeful and at times amusing moments. The Vengeance family once again demonstrated why they are so special and why I count this series among one of my all time favorites! I will be eagerly anticipating Dominik's story given what I have seen of the man so far, and I am betting it is going to be a whole lot of fun to see Willow put him through hoops in order to win her over.

**I voluntarily read an early copy of this title in exchange for an honest review**

Tacker is one of those books that any of us that have been reading the Arizona Vengeance series has been waiting for. Tacker grabbed our attention because of how bruised and broken he was and there is no doubt that Sawyer Bennett had a big job to deliver and boy did she!

Tacker Hall has been in a downward spiral for over a year. It all started two weeks before his wedding when he and his fiancee were involved in a plane crash; one that unfortunately MJ didn't survive. The folded into himself and was basically mad at the world. He didn't accept help and love from his friends and family and the one outlet he did have - hockey - he started making poor decisions that led to him being traded. A night of reckless drinking and driving has now presented him not only with a broken wrist, but an ultimatum and a list of requirements from the team. One of the biggest requirements is that he get therapy, which is the last thing he wants.

Nora Wayne is an equine therapist. Certainly not all of her therapy centers around her horses, but they are definitely a big part of her life and her ranch. When Nora ends up taking Tacker on as a client, she really doesn't have the time, but a generous donation helps to sway her. What she doesn't realize is that by meeting the hockey player, she might actually be meeting the one person who can help her as much as she can help him.

Will Tacker be able to be vulnerable enough to share his feelings and realize that his life is truly a gift or will he give up everything he's worked for in his career?

This was an emotional story all the way around. I was not expecting the backstory of Nora to be as emotional as it was, but when I reflect upon it, it was the perfect way for it to happen. The connection between Nora and Tacker was genuine and trusting from early on because she was willing to be vulnerable with him as well. I loved these two characters and I also adored not only Raul, but also how Tacker's teammates supported and encouraged him.

Kudos to Sawyer Bennett for a fantastic story and for living up to what so many of us were clamoring for!

I have to admit I am late to the Arizona Vengeance Series. I started this series over the summer when I had more reading time. I can honestly say this series did not disappoint and I loved it just as much as I loved the Cold Fury series.

Tacker Hall is one of the characters throughout the series that has kept the readers intrigued. They wanted to know his story because of his guilt over a plane crash he was piloting. Hockey has been the only thing he has managed to hang onto. Extreme guilt, poor decisions, and spiraling out of control has put his career on the line. Confronting his emotions and dealing with his guilt are impossible until his new therapist Nora Wayne finds a way to reach him. Her diligence, patience, and optimism are what gains his trust enough to break through his steely walls of guilt and despair.

Once the door is open, nothing can stop Tacker from finding the strength to forgive himself and open up to love. Nora is there for him with open arms and healing love.

Nothing can describe this incredible story because the emotions displayed throughout this book is moving. I honestly believe every person can relate to Tacker and Nora in some capacity. Sawyer Bennett delivered more than a story her readers were waiting for. She delivered the sunshine this series needed. I cannot express how much I loved this story and Tacker. Sawyer Bennett is a truly gifted writer who I have always said has a magical pen. She has stepped above and beyond her gifted talent! She gave Tacker the happily ever after he deserved.

WOW!!! This book was definitely amazing in the drama & angst that is Tacker’s life. I’ve wondered about Tacker throughout the previous books & now I can understand him more. This book was definitely a roller coaster ride of emotions, as we finally hear from Tacker & meet the woman who brings him back to life. Both have devastating events happen in their lives & if it wasn’t for Nora sharing her past I don’t think Tacker would’ve opened up to anyone. The storyline is one of survivors guilt & an inability to move forward from a life changing accident, as we learn the details behind the plane crash that Tacker’s fiancée died in. I loved how Nora was able to break through Tacker’s walls & that he was supported by his teammates throughout everything. It was wonderful to see him open up to his friends & teammates & finally laugh again. Definitely recommend to read.

I have been waiting for the story of Tacker since Bishop. And my expectations were exceeded. Dear Sawyer Bennett, Thanks for Tacker and Nora. Just thank you! I love this book. I suffered with Tacker, with Nora and with both of them. I do not want to spoil, that's why I do not go into the story. Ladies, unpacks the tissues and chocolate, this helps to get over the pain of the book. 5 absolutely earned points. I'm looking forward to the next "Arizona Vengeance" stories.

When Tacker Hall crashes his truck into a concrete barrier, he's mandated by his team to go to therapy. When he refuses to go back to the therapist, he's given the name of another therapist. Nora Wayne has been through some trauma coming out the other side adjusted and looking to help others. When she takes on Tacker as a client, she doesn't realise that both of their lives are about to change! This was an amazing story of a journey through grief and loss that pulled out all the emotions and didn't shy away from any of the hardness life throws at people.

I’ve been a fan of Sawyer Bennett’s hockey series for years and this especially was one I was looking forward too. Tacker intrigued me from the beginning of the series because of what he has been through and I believe Nora was the perfect character for him to fall for. The only thing that bugged me was I can tell Bennett isn’t necessarily an avid hockey fan as there is many things about the game that are incorrect in the books but I really noticed it in this one the most. Maybe she’s just changing things for a good story but I’m a huge fan of the game so I really notice the discrepancies.
