Nanny Reimagined: A Single Dad & Nanny Romance (New York Nanny Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 92 ratings

Being a nanny for a hot, wealthy, single New York photographer definitely has its benefits.

Book two of the New York Nanny series finds Mouse preparing for graduation from NYU as she, Henry and Leo prepare for a wedding, and becoming a family at last.

A pregnancy, kindergarten for Leo, and many changes are on the horizon for the Gardeners. Following a romantic honeymoon in Bora Bora, however, they’re hit with devastating news that rocks their fledgling family to its foundations, and threatens its very existence.

A partially closed door and a conversation overheard at an inopportune moment cause a cataclysm of events that end in what could be tragedy for poor Leo and his frantic parents.

Mouse and Henry find out at all the love and romance in the world can’t solve everything, and Leo finds out how important it is to have real life friends that he can count on in a pinch.

This story sees a cameo from the Santangelos of the Growing Flowers series, who are the upstairs neighbors of the Gardeners, so come along for the ride, which will be both fraught and fun.

Follow the Gardeners through sexy adventures and scary times adjusting to their new lives in Manhattan, as they go through growing pains and learn to be a new family unit.

Meet the Characters

Martha “Mouse” Cameron
THE SHY STUDENT
A self-described “butter-face” who comes by her nickname honestly, Mouse has spent her life quietly, on the sidelines, destined to be ignored by just about everyone. Then, a lucky summer job as nanny to Leo changes her life, and the lives of Leo and his father, Henry, forever. Her love for Leo, and her sexual attraction for Henry takes her life in directions she never thought they would.

Henry Gardener
THE CONCERNED FATHER
Henry has had a spectacularly successful professional life as a photographer and part owner of a modeling agency. His personal life, not so much. His wife died in childbirth, leaving him with a two year old son to raise on his own. He’s totally gorgeous, but too worried about his little boy to enjoy a social life, and certainly too distracted to notice the nanny in his home who’s falling in love with him.

Leo Gardener
THE SENSITIVE CHILD
Leo has always been imaginative, and this worries his father, and the other adults in his life. When his father Henry hires Mouse to be his nanny for the summer, it’s a last attempt to tether him to life and get him ready for public school and the harsh realities it can bring. But Leo doesn’t want real life, he just wants Mouse and Henry to love him; he wants a mother and a father. He wants a family.

Madeleine Jenner
THE CONNIVING GIRLFRIEND
Some successful older women like to take younger women under their wings, and feel maternal about small children who come into their orbit. Not Madeleine. She is Henry’s girlfriend when our story begins, but this doesn’t mean she feels like Leo’s mother, nor does she feel particularly kindly toward Mouse, his new nanny. Indeed, she’d be much happier if both of them were to fall into the ocean and drown, probably, which isn’t very nice at all.

Travis Hall
THE KIND EX-BOYFRIEND
Travis used to date Mouse, and would be dating her still if he had his way. He liked her very much, and is perfectly willing to be in her life in whatever capacity she wants him to be, whether its as a benevolent older brother figure, or a kindly friend to her new charge, Leo. Travis has kindness to spare, and will always feel protective of Mouse.

What Readers Are Saying

“I liked the first installment of the NY Nanny series but I wanted more conflict, and the sequel delivered in spades.”

“[Tani] has an uncanny way of writing emotions in such a way that they travel from all through the screen to the reader’s hearts.“

I was born in Japan, raised in central California, and am now lucky enough to live in New York City. I've wanted to write for so long, and decided to celebrate my birthday by finally doing it! Anyone, everyone who wants to, DO IT. Write what you love, what makes you happy, otherwise what's the point? There's nothing like getting a tearful text from an advance copy beta reader asking, "Why?? Why did you do that to her?!" Being a substitute teacher for fifteen years gave me some good ideas for what today's younger readers would enjoy, and I hope you do :o)

This series was good. I was not expecting that last blurb at the end of the book about Leo’s birth. I love how Henry adored Mouse even in pregnancy. They had a few bumps in the road. But they got their answers and all was good. This shows you how people who do not think they are good looking, can be beautiful on the inside, just as much as the outside. Henry proved that time and time again with Mouse. And I don’t think Mouse was a “butter face” like she claims. I think there was maybe a few things she didn’t like about her looks, but let’s be honest everyone is their own worst enemy when it’s about their own looks! In Henry’s POV, guys looked at Mouse quite a bit. And we see in Mouse’s POV that Henry gets hit on. I like the chapter when Henry is at a meeting at work, and you get an inside look at what his intern Cassie thinks and what is said about Mouse in his office. Still after a year and even his own employees are just kind of mean. This book sends a great message about love, family of different origins and how or what people view to be beautiful through their own eyes.

This is a nice continuation of the story from the first book. We get to see Henry and Mouse as they navigate the next steps in their relationship. Many books focus on getting to the HEA, but it was great to see one that shows the evolution after the HEA. There is a HUGE twist in this book that I won't give away but, boy, when it appears, it creates the primary conflict for most of the novel. We get POVs from Henry, Mouse and cute little Leo, which help build the story. If you enjoyed the first book, you'll love this one too!

I loved reading this book. Instead of sleeping, I kept reading during most of the night - greatest compliment to an author. Wonderful characters. Writer did an excellent job with the characters and storyline. Little Leo, 4 year old, was a great character. I will definitely be re-reading this book many times. I already bought the book about the wonderful neighbors introduced in this book.

Both books were great! And the epilogue finished it off perfectly. I read a lot of books and most times after your done the book(or/series) you feel like something is missing. But this one was so great I just had to leave a review. Thank you!!

I just loved how the romance carried on from the first book but what happens ,and you get it from a child's view point is just fantastic. I had to read it in one go. Brilliant
