I'll be forthright and say that I've bought every book that Erin Gleeson has come out with to date. My favorite being The Forest Feast: Simple Vegetarian Recipes from My Cabin in the Woods, the original, and my least favorite being The Forest Feast for Kids: Colorful Vegetarian Recipes That Are Simple to Make, admittedly kind of a cash grab with duplicate recipes. This book throws in some fresh life to her series, as she's obviously included recipes gathered, learned, and collected on her journeys through France, Portugal, Spain and Italy. While we'd all have loved to accompany her on these travels, the next best thing is to have her vetted and approved concoctions to make in my very own kitchen. As one reviewer has pointed out, France, Portugal, Spain and Italy aren't necessarily the first countries you think about when thinking about "Mediterranean" countries - or at least not to me. Greece, Croatia, Israel, Lebanon, Turkey and others are not represented here, but if you know, and accept this, going into your purchase, you should be elated. I've included several example recipes from the book to show how each one is presented in print. Very colorful presentation on each, with a photograph showing a perfectly manicured final product, in addition to cute hand renderings of individual ingredients, quantities and execution. Unlike many cookbooks, the recipes are easy to follow, don’t require excessive amounts of ingredients, and for the most part, all ingredients are easy to locate at your local grocery store. Sprinkled throughout are supporting photos of her travel, which add to the enjoyment of the book and make you feel like you’re walking down the cobblestone alley with her. Since I just got this book, I’ve only had a chance to make a handful of the recipes. The Spicy Melon Salad on page 100 was easy and delicious. I added some grapes and burrata to top off. Also made the Onion + Fog Tartines on page 138 that were simply delicious. I like my onion slightly more crispy, so didn’t saute for the full 15 min, but so SO good. Enjoy this purchase, eat some wonderful food and daydream about traveling around the Mediterranean.

This is absolutely my favorite cookbook that Erin Gleeson has written. I have only had the cookbook since November, and it has become the cookbook I reach for most often. Her recipes are easy and quick. She gives shortcuts, if you want to use them, or you can make everything from scratch (such as pie dough or pizza dough). My husband, who is a hard-core meat and potatoes guy, has softened his stance considerably after tasting many of her simple and delicious vegetarian recipes. Last night, he was really happy with the Snap Pea Paella recipe on page 118. It took me less than 20 minutes to pull it together! I will make it again, but use saffron next time, as is traditionally used in paella. It would be very easy to substitute a different or additional vegetables - use what you have in your refrigerator! So many of her recipes from this book have become favorites - such as the Spaghetti with Chard & Garlic on page 190. Her Dressed Up Olives (page 24) are wonderful and I usually have a dish in the refrigerator that I can pull out for a quick snack if friends come over or if we want something with our before-dinner drinks. My neighbor loved the Pissaladiere (page 152) we served at a cocktail party so much, she asked me for the recipe.

Not to mention that her books are pieces of art! Erin is a very talented artist and It makes me smile when I open the book to a recipe of her that I want to make and see the photography, paintings, and all the artwork on every single page. Plus, in this particular cookbook, she has brief travel guides for the places she stayed while doing research (Spain, Italy, France, and Portugal). I love the little stories she has put on the pages of many of her recipes that tell what her inspiration was while creating it. I love that there is a photograph of each and every recipe. It makes it so much easier to understand what you are doing.

This book is well on its way to become one of my very favorite cookbooks. My plan is to eventually try every recipe in the book. We are enjoying the food that much! Great cookbook! Great art! I highly recommend this cookbook whether you are a beginner or an experienced cook that sometimes gets rushed for time.

This was on my daughter's wish list for a birthday gift. She prefers buying books used, which I did. The condition was excellent - as good as brand new. It arrived on time in a sturdy, heavy brown paper package. I was very pleased and would buy from this seller again. The cookbook had a large selection of recipes using common ingredients with photographs. I loved the personal stories and family photos and suggestions included in the book. My daughter also has the Family Gatherings cookbook from this author and likes that as well.

I adore the watercolor backgrounds and the drawn accents that go with the recipes. The photos are beautiful as well. I originally only had the ebook, but after reading I will definitely be purchasing a physical copy to keep in my kitchen. The recipes are simple healthy, and delicious - exactly what I was looking for.
