The Bloodfeather Promise (Seven Seconds Series Book 1) Kindle Edition
He doesn’t remember. She can’t forget. This is gonna get messy...
Greyson
Like a pretty feather, Emerson Jane Banner drifts into my bed the very night I quit my band. Her kisses are a sweet drug, but I don’t get her name before she slips out the next morning. Months later our paths cross unexpectedly. And yeah, maybe I don’t remember her, but she’s my newest addiction. I make myself a promise. I won’t let her get away this time.
Emerson
Greyson Finch shattered my innocence, showed me desire, then kicked me out of his hotel room. I never thought I’d see him again after that night, but somehow, he finds me. Here’s the problem. He doesn't remember me. Doesn’t remember our kisses. Or how he made me beg for each one. And maybe I hate him, but I’ll use this arrogant rockstar like he once used me. I make myself a promise. I won’t let him break my heart again.

About the author
April lives on Florida’s Emerald Coast. Married for 35 years to her high school sweetheart, they have one married daughter. April is tolerated by a sassy Quarter Horse, ruled by a bossy German Shepherd and adored by a Siamese cat with an unhealthy obsession for sitting in April’s lap and staring at her face. When not writing about romance, April and her husband attend concerts, plan trips with their daughter and son-in-law and relax by the pool with family and friends.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 6, 2021This book. It's lush. It's black lace lingerie and silk against your skin. It's midnight. Rich wine. Warm breezes. Smoke. Dirty promises whispered against your ear. It's pain and loss. And it's love and renewal.
This delicious rockstar romance is The Bloodfeather Promise, Book One in April Moran's Seven Seconds Series.
Greyson Carter Finch is the lead guitarist and the band, Seven Seconds, creator. Living the rockstar lifestyle of sex, drugs and rock and roll, has brought him to the brink of destruction. But it was betrayal that sent him over the edge.
One night, one gig, one woman tears the fragile bonds of the group apart.
One woman, Emerson Jane Banner, selected to party with the band after the show, brings the lead guitarist and bands lead singer to blows. And Greyson to his knees.
One night. A precious gift. Then Emerson was cast aside like a fast food wrapper, used, unwanted. Until he came back into her life.
Greyson and Emerson's story is a love story in the tradition of the great love stories. Those great love stories show the growth of the characters, their flaws, their struggles. The triumphs as well as the failures. That is what makes this emotionally dark romance fulfilling.
April Moran writes some of the best male heros I've read. Don't get me wrong, Emerson has her time to shine in the sun, but, it's Greyson that fuels this story. Moran crafts Greyson with a deft hand. He's multidimensional, both his strength and weaknesses are showcased. Moran has a habit of the character writing her chapter intros, they showcase the inner thoughts, where they are emotionally at that point in the story. This technique is used to dazzling effect. Greyson's growth and recovery are a work in progress throughout the book. His triumphs are yours, as are his losses, his pain. It's brilliant.
Frankly, I didn't want this book to end. I could read the story of Grey and Emerson's life for years to come. Like those classics I love to reread, The Bloodfeather Promise will now be thrown into the mix for when I'm looking for a love story with a certain something.
One last note, make sure to listen to the Spotify Playlist curated by Moran to go with this book. It's the perfect accompaniment.

Images in this review - Reviewed in the United States on October 12, 2021This story starting off the Seven Seconds Novel series is so amazing! It had me gripped from page one! I haven't been able to put it down! I've begun dipping into contemporary romances lately, and when I saw this suggested book from Amazon and realized it was from April Moran I grabbed it!
Greyson is completely lost! He's high on drugs, alcohol, and God knows what else when he meets Emerson! Only he never knows her name. Only that she slipped away from him after their night together.. 15 months later and he meets her again! Only he doesn't know it's her! They date, get to know each other for 3 months. Until band mates show up unannounced and everything gets brought to his attention.. Through their heartache and misunderstanding Greyson finally comes to terms with all his hurt, anger, and his friendship with his friend! Absolutely loved this romance! April did such an amazing job with it!😍🙌
- Reviewed in the United States on August 9, 2019If you don't enjoy intelligent, compelling story telling, this book is not for you. If you don't like characters who draw you thoroughly into their lives and make you feel them, again, this book is not for you. Fortunately, I loved the characters and their absorbing story. I couldn't put the book down.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 6, 2019I don't often step outside of the historical romance genre, but when I found out that one of my new favorite authors had written a contemporary romance, I just had to read it. Wow! I mean..... W.O.W. I won't repeat the plot because the blurb says it all. I'll talk about the writing itself. Steamy, Sexy, Seductive, then a bunch of Sweet. The writing makes you feel like you're the "fly on the wall" so to speak. Like you're right there, standing in the corner with the characters while the tableau plays itself out in front of your eyes. And the playlist that goes with the book is excellent. Please take the time and listen to the songs that go right along with the scene being depicted. You won't be disappointed. Well done, Mrs. Moran! Well done, I say!!
- Reviewed in the United States on June 20, 2019"Love dances on both sides of the same coin. Horrifyingly ugly and terrifyingly beautiful."
This is a direct quote from April Moran's third book, and could not more accurately describe not only the love story contained in the book, but also our lead character, Greyson Finch. You are going to want to hate Greyson. Hell, you will hate him. But you also can't help but forgive his wicked behavior as you learn what drives it.
April's ability to craft a sentence so brilliantly, made it easy for me to devour this tortured story of love, redemption, and finally, forgiveness. She brings you on a journey, like a feather drifting and floating through the air; up, down, then up and down again, finally landing softly, it's impact heavy and lasting in your heart.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 26, 2019Admittedly, I squirmed uncomfortably through the first chapter enduring Greyson's cruel attitude. He was unforgiving & brutally sharp tongued. By the third chapter, he was already becoming that brooding soul we hate to love. Emerson blossomed into her own strength while remaining relatably vulnerable. I ended up reading the entire book in 2 sittings, & loved the unfolding of these two character's stories.
Also, because I live in NW Florida where the majority of the book is set, I found myself getting teary at the familiar imagery, & knowing how connecting & transforming the Emerald Coast can be to the soul. It was so fitting for the growth & healing process of Greyson & Emerson.
Lastly, the playlist created to compliment the emotions of the book was perfection! Such an awesome accoutrement to the story telling.
I can't wait to read the other books of the Seven Seconds band members!! I'm hooked!
