Oh my goodness..where do I start. This story had me on the edge from the beginning, while simultaneously making by heart melt and a giggle slip out here and there. I loved Elizas character! She had spunk and just wasn’t going to put up with any of the males nonsense. But then she come up against Eaton, who to her surprise doesn’t want to challenge her. However, being the strong female over thinker she is, manages to turn it all upside down. The twist and turns are fun and entertaining and tricky. Hold on, this Cornish Duke is a sprint to the end

What a nice start to a new series of Cornish Dukes.

Eaton Falmage, Marquess of Lynford, holds a secret dear to his heart. Eliza Blaxland, is an independent widow who runs a mine, (a strong woman in a man’s world) and has a young daughter. She is also one of the patrons of Eaton’s school. When trouble arises due to members of the board, Eaton helps her to formulate a plan. I loved the banter/attraction between this pair.

There is lots of romance, mystery. A well-written, emotional book which keeps you turning the pages. Well done.

I received an advance reader copy from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

This is a great book. The main characters are interesting and the readers will find themselves wanting them to be hspph. Lord Lynford asks himself: "Could two people destined to be alone be together?" Finding out how the author answers this is a delight!

I’m about 20% into this book, and it’s time to cut bait. The writing is just lacking. Instead of showing what leads to the heroine’s reluctance to enter into a relationship, the author beats you over the head with it. Repeatedly. Paragraph after paragraph, page after page of her mother letting her down and her elderly husband dying. When her suitor makes the moves, I was wondering why. What even draws them together? The author tells us he was attracted to her because of their back and forth banter, but they’d barely spoken ten words to one another. Too much internal thought, very little dialogue.

I made the mistake of reading an excellent book in this genre just before starting this one, so the difference seems very stark. This one just doesn’t grip me.
