She isn’t supposed to fall in love with him… He’s one of the aliens who invaded Earth.

Harper King is like most humans—she works hard at her job and does her best not to think too much about the Krinar. The mysterious aliens took over her planet five years ago, and since then, rumors have surrounded them… whispers of super strength and speed, incredible beauty, and advanced technology. Harper should hate them, since her parents died the day they invaded, but something about the infamous Krinar fascinates her. Little does she know that the sinfully gorgeous drifter who rescues her from a bar fight will give her the close encounter she’s always dreamed of.

Sef is supposed to be infiltrating a human resistance group, not seducing sweet little human females. But from the moment he sets eyes on Harper, he knows he must have her and will do anything to possess her. Using his human disguise, he lures Harper into his arms and his bed. When it’s far too late for her to escape him, he reveals that he’s a Krinar, one of the powerful and terrifying aliens she’s always wanted to meet. He gives her a choice: to save her brothers, she must give herself to him—heart, body, and soul.

Will she choose her dark, seductive alien lover to save her family? Or will she resist the secret desires of her own heart in order to be free?

Emma Castle has always loved reading but didn’t know she loved romance until she was enduring the trials of law school. She discovered the dark and sexy world of romance novels and since then has never looked back! She loves writing about sexy, alpha male heroes who know just how to seduce women even if they are a bit naughty about it. When Emma’s not writing, she may be obsessing over her favorite show Supernatural where she’s a total Team Dean Winchester kind of girl!

"What we have," he murmured, still stroking the back of her neck, "this is rare. So very rare."

Sef is Krinar. Harper is human. The Krinar came to Earth five years ago. Harper lost her parents that day. Today, Harper owns and operates her father's garage while her brothers, Mason and Liam own and operate the attached bar.

Sef comes to investigate rumors of a group of rebels supposedly lead by Harper's brothers. He is immediately drawn to Harper, more than any female he'd ever been in contact with.

As Sef continues to fall in love with Harper, he is consumed with guilt knowing she will hate him when she finds out what he truly is and why he is there. Unless he can convince her that he loves her and is trying to help create a better world in which Krinar and humans can learn to trust each other and live side by side.

This is the first book I've read by this author and of the Krinar universe and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The attraction level between Sef and Harper was awesome. The story itself was really well written. And I love the surprise Sef is able to give Harper at the end.

Sef is Krinar in disguise as Seth Jackson to infiltrate a Krinar resistance movement but in the process he meets his “true love” and he is conflicted because her brothers are who he’s come to arrest. She’s a genius, mechanic with an unnatural ability to understand complex engineering theories but also has dyslexia. The story is short and somewhat spoon fed to the reader. It’s also integrated with Soren and Bianca’s story which came first. Sef is tender and as Seth he has personality he becomes a bit robotic and very possessive as Sef. I think the resolution of the story in the last chapter was too fast and could have been stretched out. The epilogue was a nice surprise. Still a fun story to read. I also listened to the audiobook which was enjoyable.

Emma Castle describes the heart of her story in a few touching lines:

”Seth…I think…I think I’m falling in love with you, ” she whispered.

The words obliterated all rational thought from him. He emptied himself into her, their bodies still fused, heat singing where they touched as he tried to catch his breath and process what she’d said.

Her lashes fanned down, and she turned her face away. ”Don’t say anything. I just…I wanted to tell you. I don’t expect any thing. It simply felt right to say it.” She bit her bottom lip, so shy and vulnerable at this moment that it made him ache.

Lowering his head, he stole her lips in a tender kiss different from the love making they had just shared. He told her in his own way that he might be falling in love with her too, that she could have been his charl in another life, been the companion of his heart forever, if only he didn’t have to break hers.

§

Harper and her brothers, Mason and Liam had lost their parents on K Day so it was them against the world.

In addition to the Bar, the brother’s were co-owners of, they were the leaders of Resistance Cell. The brothers were motivated by resentment, because their parents had died in the violence of K Day. Harper own’s the Garage that is part of the same building.

Harper didn’t think that her brothers Cell will get them into any serious trouble. They mostly protested against the restrictions the K’s had placed on humans. Harper herself was not all that concerned about the K’s

Another Resistance leader, who said he had the assistance of a Krinar traitor, needed the brother’s help to breach the walls of a K Center. Exposing what was inside for the world to see.

§

Sef, the eight thousand year old Guardian, who incidentally, is the twin brother of the Krinar Ambassador to the United States, has been asked by Counselor Arus to investigate this potential threat. It’s not a thing they can ignore. On the other hand it should not be a difficult assignment. He goes in disguised as a human, named Seth, and ingrates himself with the family and their associates.

Then he meets Harper.

Harper says reasonable things, ”We never had a chance when they invaded. What makes anyone think we have one now.”

Harper has an agile mind. She is an amazing mechanic. She has a good grasp of design. But reading and writing are very difficult for her, she has dyslexia, so severe, as to make those things almost impossible.

With Sef, disguised as a human. The amazing human woman who is falling in love with him does not suspect a thing. He would feel badly about that even if he were only using her. She was about to loose the only family she had, and that could break her. She would certainly never forgive him. He didn’t know how he could handle that. After eight thousand years he had found his mate and he was about to destroy her.

He very nearly did. The brothers are placed in confinement, and Harper comes to Sef’s house which she initially hates. At least she is able to visit her brothers.

Harper realizes that Sef pretending to be someone else does not make his feelings for her any less real. Her brothers eventually encourage her with this.

In the end some remarkable things happen, an HEA beyond what anyone expected; which should definitely be enjoyed spoiler free!

I have enjoyed reading about the Krinar, ever since the first story by Anna Zaires. What I like about the Krinar World stories by other authors is that they hold true to the original storyline and this author didn't disappoint.
The story contained all the right ingredients to create an awesome followup to, The Krinar Eclipse by Lauren Smith.

This is about Sef, Soren's twin brother. Sef is a guardian for the Krinar, he is assigned to infiltrate a krinar resistance group in Lawrence KS. Only he didn't expect to find a sister and two brothers. He wasn't told about the woman whom he is now also drawn to her. Sef has controlled his desires for thousands of years, now his desire has control of him. He now understands what caused his brother to take his, Charl/wife.
Sef/Seth drives to his assignment and approaches the garage and finds the sister of the two brothers working.
Harper works as a mechanic in the garage that had belonged to her father. She inherited it when both her parents were killed. in the Panic, with the invasion of the Krinar, and the bridge they were on was bombed. She also helped out working in her brothers' bar, after she closed the garage.
When Harper went to work at the bar she was asked to waitress and she agreed too, but an incident happens, she gets hurt and Sef ends up the night taking over for Harper and taking orders for drinks. Then also getting an apartment above the garage, a job and helping out at the garage.
Her brothers were part of a non-violent resistance group, but they were not achieving any satisfaction with their protests. Until... they are approached by another resistance group leader that wanted to speak to their group. When Sef reports his discovery...

I really like reading the Krinar stories and this one did not disappoint me. I loved it.

I received an ARC from the author for an honest review.

4.0 out of 5 stars A different take on Krinar- human relationship
Reviewed in India on June 7, 2021
I love how these novellas of the Krinar World show the different perspectives of the different authors.
Why the story is named Krinar Code has been explained in the last chapter and it makes perfect sense. Harper and Sef's relationship has many ups and downs and not 1D. Although, there are quite a few typos and I think the automatic should make an effort to proof read before publishing.

4.0 out of 5 stars Newer version

This story had more of the flavour that the previous Krinar novels had - take what they want, damn the consequences. Again, there is more heat in these newer versions, which adds to the storyline. Really glad I read this new version.
