New Lenses: A Prescription to See Your Adult Children Differently Kindle Edition

4.8 4.8 out of 5 stars 7 ratings

For those parents with adult children living at home and showing no signs of wanting to leave the nest, New Lenses provides much-needed, fresh perspective.

It is not uncommon in today’s society to see adult children living in their parents’ home far beyond graduation. Many of these adult children are unemployed and unwilling to become independent and to move forward with their futures. Many parents struggle to find the right solution to help their children leave the nest. For these parents, it is time to get a new prescription and look at the situation from a completely new set of lenses. In New Lenses, Pam Reid shows readers how to help their adult child take steps towards being financially self-sufficient, recognize and take advantage of door-opening opportunities, and so much more. For those who wish to impact change and make a significant difference in the lives of others including their own, New Lenses is the ideal resource to help kickstart the transformation to becoming the person who will create a positive ripple of change.

A must read!!!

A must read!!!
The author seeks to give parents of adult children living at home the tools necessary to better cope with an ever-changing landscape. The tools the author provides and the way she presents them in “New Lenses” are competent, timely, well-organized and will definitely strike an accord with any reader. Once I started reading, I could not put the book down because there were so many stories and situations that applied to what I’m dealing with currently. I learned that I too was “the enemy”! Every parent with adult children living at home must read this book…I give it a “10”!

What does it take to get us moving? To propel us, finally, from paralysis to action, from the starting line to the course? Life sends us all kinds of signals but even those often fail to push us forward. Along comes a gentle but firm nudge from a friend. This is what Pam Reid is doing with “New Lenses.” She nurtures while guiding us to the next thing, the place we can almost but not quite see. She provides the focus and depth of field we need to bring the beautiful picture from our dreams into reality. Pam’s book, the examples she shares with brutal honesty from her own life, the kind way she helps us see what you already know... these words are miraculously here at exactly the moment when we don’t know what to do but absolutely know that another day of what we’ve been doing is not the answer. Read this if it’s time to change. (You know it is.)

New Lenses truly has provided a new perspective for me as a parent. The journey of success and failure of our children usually weighs heavily on our conscience as a barometer for how well we are doing as a parent. What Pam Reid provides is some clarity and reflection which allows any parent to navigate simply by recognizing the strength in the ability to apply feeling love over worry (FLOW) despite any circumstance or challenge associated with parenting. This is book is an honest and transparent discussion that needs to be had.

I thoroughly enjoyed New Lenses! It's filled with practical advice and tools I can use now. I appreciate the author's writing style and how easily the lessons and "Personal Perscriptions" flowed from one chapter to the next. Insightful new perspective!

Good Read. Hit home

New Lenses, the freshman debut of author Pamela D. Reid, offers encouragement and advice to any parent whose adult children have been unable (or unwilling) to leave the family nest. Using biblical scripture and personal antidotes, New Lenses will engage you with a storytelling style that’ll keep your interest while supplanting you with hope and inspiration. There’s no blaming or shaming in this book- Ms. Reid adopts a compassionate view for both the parents and their progeny. But she goes a few steps further by identifying the issues that many parents face, while offering practical advice for overcoming. By weaving her personal stories of expectations, disappointment, grief, and joy into the narrative, the reader not only feels a personal connection with the author, but is stirred to reflect upon his or her own life circumstances with renewed confidence. The book doesn’t promise to be a quick and easy fix to every family’s challenges, it’s more like a guide to self-discovery and personal growth. Read, journal, reflect, and implement the wisdom found within these pages, and discover the better life that awaits you!
