Unspoken (Deploying Faith Book 3) Kindle Edition

4.7 4.7 out of 5 stars 18 ratings

Captain Jamie Allen has lost her husband, her faith, and now fears she is losing her son.

Jamie’s deceased husband has been hailed a hero, but the truth about his death is something she keeps hidden from everyone, especially her son, Patrick. Despite her efforts to put on a brave face, he begins to sink into depression. She returns from deployment to a son she barely recognizes. Her once carefree child is wrapped in a darkness she fears will consume him - just like his father.

Russell Owens is no stranger to loss and pain. Having lost his wife in a tragic accident, he spent years struggling with guilt. He moves to Sheridan, Oklahoma to help his brother-in-law with his organization that helps connect soldiers with service dogs. When he meets his new neighbors, he can readily recognize their pain. As he tries to help Patrick, he develops feelings for Jamie - feelings he tries hard to deny.

Unspoken is a novel of three individuals broken by loss and shackled to their grief. Their heartache is hidden, lying in a corner, screaming to be heard - yet it remains unspoken. Can they learn to shed their self-created armor and allow God to clothe them in His security, truth, and love? Or will their fears leave their true feelings Unspoken

Best-selling author, Michelle Lynn Brown is a housewife, mother of three, writer, blogger, hopeless romantic, and a cuddly lap for one very large cat. She was born in Dayton, Ohio, but raised in El Paso, Texas. The Lord has blessed her with the opportunity to live in many locations, from Germany to Oklahoma, where she now resides.

When she was a teenager, her mother used to take her to used books stores at least once a month. It was there she fell in love with the written word. As a writer, she uses this passion to share with others the joy of having a personal and intimate relationship with Christ.

Like the flawed characters that grace her books, she has had many stumbles and struggles in her life. God's grace and mercy through these trials have kept her on her knees. It is from this humble position that she seeks to minister through her writing - not as someone who has it all figured out, but just someone who has figured out how wonderful and awesome God is.

This is a heartfelt story of coming to terms with issues that we face and feel when we hold on to hurts and pain, when they remain unspoken. When painful things happen or we lose someone we love through death or simply pulling away from us due to their pain, it is easy to turn away from God or blame Him for not fixing the person or letting it happen. We don't always see that though we step away from Him, He never steps away from us. He can bring beauty out of the ashes and help make the weak strong through His strength to lean on. In the loss of a loved one, we can face hurt, pain, depression, even anger. Until we face what we are feeling and speak the unspoken, healing will not begin. We may not see it, but God can sent others who are hurting too to help us both find a way to faith, hope, and healing. Ignoring pain never helps..

Here are some quotes that spoke to me.

Having faith means you need to believe God had a purpose for every tear you shed.
I learned that having faith means trusting God with our most tender and fragile thing - our heart.

Through this touching Christian romance find frienship, trust, hope, healing and a second chance at love again. This is a wonderful series from an amazing author. I love her stories.

I enjoyed this series. These stories are about real life and the struggles in living. The author is a good writer. She did mistakenly substitute Patrick for Russell in the last story. I would recommend that everyone read this series.

This is the first book I have read in this series and it does well as a stand alone, too. It is a heartwarming story of healing and overcoming horrendous circumstances. It is an encouraging story; particularly for those who have or are holding on to unspoken issues. The thinks we wish would just disappear and are often buried with the wrong hope they will go away. This is the case with the main characters in this book, Patrick, Jamie, and Russell. Despite knowledge of God and the importance of having him as the center of their lives; they blame Him for these hurts. Jamie and Patrick have lost a loved one to PTSD and depression, and Russell feels guilty over the last moments he spent with his deceased wife. In this story, Ms. Brown takes their pain and emotions to weave a tale of reconciliation, acceptance, and faith building. God put these characters in the perfect place to carry out His future plans for them. Because of similar personal life experiences, it was hard to read at first but I am so glad I continued. It strengthened my hope that healing will happen when we let God have control.

This book explores many different aspects of grief. Russell lost his wife and was still mired in the anger and guilt over things that were going on when she died. Jamie was trying to be strong for her son Patrick after the loss of her husband. All three of these characters were dwelling in their grief instead of moving through their pain. This book explored the dangers of bottling our pain or putting on a happy face. God wants us to trust Him no matter our circumstances. Often that is harder than we would like. But if we will give Him our pain, He can redeem it for our good.
