Memoirs of the Senator’s WifeBy S. M. Ford2020Reviewed by Angie ManginoRating: 4 starsIn a prologue in 1921 Tulsa Oklahoma readers meet Michelle Renee Lachapell, not quite knowing its immediate connection to the story which later will become relevant. Chapter one is set in 1940 Texas where Estella’s childhood comes into view.“Two decades later, a frustrated mother was shouting at her young daughter to clean up for supper.‘Estellaaaaaa, get out of the sun! You look like a field hand and your hair is a mess!’”Estella’s mother had big dreams for her daughter that did not seem possible for this poor family at the time. This story ambitiously tackles the intermingling of the relationship between men and women, their strengths, their sexuality, their betrayals. Set in a historical backdrop of the society and politics of the time from this beginning to Estella’s present life as wife to a senator, poverty, racism, and ambition enter in to further expand the story.Add in a Secret Service agent protecting her husband who develops a connection with Estella and the plot develops. Readers will find a quick read right up to the conclusion that will at times cause them to pause to absorb the bigger issues presented.https://amzn.to/3hWzYKx

Memoirs of The Senator’s Wife is an enthralling work of historical, speculative, romantic, and mystical fiction that is as riveting plotwise as it is epic in scope and socially conscious. Author S. M. Ford gifts us a storyline that is complex and well-woven enough to earn this book page-turning status; though, the depth of the characters and empowerment granted to women’s issues, along with the factual basis of the historic elements, succeed in lifting the book up out of those checkout-counter or bargain-bin romances you might picture upon hearing the “page-turner” claim. This one is something special.

We follow Estella on her journey from college and through the hardships of love and heartbreak, and a devastating marriage. Throw in a touch of the Cold War-era vision, ambition, and politics that went along with the Apollo days, plus all that was going on at the time with civil rights, and you have yourself an epic plot. And this says nothing about the mysticism and twists and surprises—and, of course, the steamy, borderline-eroticism.

Memoirs of The Senator’s Wife is a character-based romance at its core, centred around Stella, but it achieves so much more. It blends the past and politics, and stirs in plenty of romance and suspense. Above all, however, it is the unique and captivating storyline that earns the book’s accolades.

The juiciness of the story is what kept me reading "Memoirs of The Senator's Wife." The content is great but under-developed. I felt like I was reading a sketch or summary of the book rather than the fleshed out storyline. So if you're not picky and can overlook poor writing, then download this book today because the story is well worth it. Personally, I'd like to see the author work with an editor who can improve this book and give adequate attention to detail, such as keeping characters' names consistent. Overall, a decent read.

Memoirs of The Senator’s Wife is a story I will not forget soon. When I came across this masterpiece, I did not know what to expect, but after turning a few pages, I felt so absorbed into the story that I couldn't put it down; It blew up my mind. The novel is filled with joy, anger, happiness, rage, anxiety, fear, hopeful to hopeless, and so much more in between. This book had me glued on my seat from the beginning to end with the exciting twists and turns all around the story.
The novel is simply captivating; Estella pulls you in from the first page taking you through her life phase from college to being married and leaves you wanting more after the last page. The occult in the book spices it up, making it so intriguing and enthralling. Estella’s story stirs up all the old bittersweet memories in the reader-enough said.
The novel is well-structured, making it an enjoyable read; I will be reading more books from this author. I can’t wait to grasp the next release. A compelling read that you can’t get enough of. An exciting story, entirely developed with an impressive flow and impeccable grammar, is easy to understand. I highly recommend it!

While most of the subject matter of this book are super important to remind everyone about, the story of the book does not hold up its end. Lots of holes in the story but has lots of possibility.

I would not suggest this book to anyone. The sex scenes were so ridiculous and repetitive even without the overuse of the word “long.”

What a life! More twists and turns than a roller coaster! However, the author leaves a lot of strings left hanging which might be too obscure to address for readers who have not read this book. If Ford does write a sequel, I suggest she sell the two books as a boxed set

Well, it did not begin well, but at least they expected it to end well!. What a thrilling and twisting love story, the story of Xavier and Estella, and of course their secret lovers.

“Memoirs of the senator’s wife” by S.M. Ford offers all that you presume from a fancy fiction. The author has developed such a clever and engaging plot that keeps the reader glued to pages from the beginning to the end. The plot is carefully developed with well-detailed characters, and the author takes some time in laying the foundation of the story, probably to pave the way for the next releases of the saga. The book offers a diverse collection of feels for the reader, starting from lust, rage, love, hate, and affairs. There are some scenes where the plot diverts from reality to more fiction and sensual acts, which add a different, yet positive element to the plot. The writing style was commendable as it was super easy to follow, simple, and engaging. Conclusively it was an enjoyable read, and looking forward to seeing what comes next.

This was a book read by my book club for the month of October. We had mixed reviews in some areas of the book, however for me, and many others, it left a lot to be desired with its graphic sex situations. The relationships involved gave pause for many of us who are Christians. I would not recommend this book if you have Christian values.

This book "Memoirs of The Senator's Wife," the love story of Xavier and Estella, will positively surprise you. The story is utterly mesmerizing and engages all our emotions on the lines of relationship, commitment, lust, concern, swoon, and faith. With all the twists and turns on this journey of love, this book was a fast page-turner(some twits may take time for the reader to process). However, the main plot is the relationship between Estella and Michael, but it certainly takes a twisting road to conclude the affair. Above all, it is the bizarre storyline that steals the show.
The author has a great gift of a "to feel" type of storytelling because we develop an attachment to the characters while re ading and get involved in their lives—a fantastic read. I can't wait to read the next one in the series.

1.0 out of 5 stars Terrible in a very bad way!

I can't begin listing what I didn't like about Memoirs of the Senator's Wife by S. M. Ford.

First and foremost, the characters. Xavier and Estella are so two-dimensional that they hardly feel real. Nothing makes sense about their lives except perhaps their motivations. But even those cannot explain their odd behaviors and reactions.

Secondly, the style is flat and unemotional, which isn't the worst thing about it. What I can't stand are the patronizing tones, the underlying homophobia and chauvinism portrayed by this book. It's ironic that the same causes Estella is fighting for are the reasons this book should've never been written. As an example, I'll quote the misuse of Plato's theory of soul-mates. Originally meant to explain man's attraction to man, the author turns it into a heterosexual justification.

The many typos and grammar errors are a further discouragement in reading this book that, needless to say, I wouldn't recommend to anyone.

'Memoirs of The Senator's Wife' is a fascinating story of a girl named Estella. Estella lost her father early, and her mother re-married for the sake of Estella's future. Unfortunately, Estella had to pass through hard times and got married.
This book is a unique combination of love, suspense, and politics. Although I don't have a taste of romance books, still, this story kept me captivating till the end. It's a fast-paced book with a great storyline. I will surely recommend it to everyone out there.
