About the Author

Award-winning romance author Jo McNally lives in her beloved upstate New York with her very own romance hero husband. When she’s not writing or reading romance novels, she loves to travel and explore new places and experiences. She's a big fan of leisurely lunches with her besties. Her favorite room at home is the sunroom, where she enjoys both morning coffee and evening cocktails with her husband while listening to an eclectic (and often Irish) playlist.

Jo McNally is an award-winning author who writes contemporary romances with love, laughter and hard-won HEAs.

Jo lives in Upstate New York with 100 pounds of dog and 200 pounds of husband – her slice of the bed is very small. When she's not writing or reading romance novels (or clinging to the edge of the bed...), she can often be found on the back porch sipping wine with friends while listening to an eclectic playlist. If the weather is absolutely perfect, she might join her husband on the golf course, where she feels far more competitive than her actual skill-level would suggest.

Easy to get lost in!

Easy to get lost in!
Mackenzie cannot believe she is back in her home town. Growing up, she was determined to leave and never come back, except to visit. Now, here she is, helping out in her dad’s liquor store. Since her failed marriage, she is licking her wounds. Mackenzie decides she is no longer going to be a goody-two-shoes. She is going to step out of her comfort zone. Sherriff deputy Dan may have a thing or two to say about this.Mackenzie has had a crush on Dan since high school. It does not take much to ignite the old flame. I reveled in these two together. They matched so well! Dan became a great comfort for Mackenzie and as a reader, you just felt his strength and compassion. This is a good palate cleanser, pleasure read…whatever you want to call it. It is a good, easy and quick romance to get lost in. It is part of a series. I have not read the others books and did not feel lost at all. This can be a stand alone read. But, don’t worry! I will go back and read the others! I enjoyed this one and I don’t want to miss anything!I received this novel from the publisher for a honest review.

Talk about a role reversal… in their high school days, Mackenzie Wallace was the goody two-shoes who never put a foot wrong, and ‘Danger Dan’ Adams was trouble with a capital T. Now Mackenzie is back in Gallant Lake after her perfect life came crashing down around her ears… and ‘Danger Dan’ is a deputy sheriff?

Both Dan and Mack are dragging around an awful lot of emotional baggage, and Dan has a daughter from a failed marriage to consider, but the sparks flying between the two of them are undeniable. Thing is that Mack’s tired of being the good girl; she wants to kick up her heels and live a little, and Dan’s very much the opposite. He’s seen what’s at the end of that road and it means nothing good. Somehow, they have to figure out a way to meet in the middle, as Mackenzie tries to settle into her new life at Gallant Lake, having taken over the liquor store from her retiring father.

This is part of a series about the residents of Gallant Lake and I have to admit I haven’t read any of the others, but I don’t think it mattered too much in figuring out who the various players were. On the other hand, if you are a fan of the series, you’ll probably be pleased by several cameo appearances throughout this story.

Mack and Dan are a lovely couple, and I particularly liked the way Mack never let Dan get away with anything, quite willing to call him on things when it would have been an easy way out to just let it slide and avoid the conflict. Instead the two of them step up and discuss their feelings, and it really made me buy into the two of them as a couple who could weather life’s inevitable storms together. This is a well written and engaging story about two likeable characters who find that their differences mean they have more in common than they’d ever realised, and I’m happy to give it five stars.

Mackenzie Wallace has learned that being the quintessential good girl is completely overrated, she use to strive to always be good... but now she has a craving to be bad! She wants to be wild, free, and not follow all the rules down to the letter. And her brothers best friend Danny Adams seems like the perfect place to start, way back when he was the town's bad boy, and she is hoping he can teach her his wild ways.

But there is just one problem, he's now an officer and likes to follow the rules... and he isn't so sure that dating his best friends sister is a good idea.

The Homecoming Wish centers around a brokenhearted young lady that is tired of always doing the right thing, the safe thing. She wants to shed her good girl ways and dabble on the wrong side of right, but the man she has set her sights on to help her with that isn't the man he use to be. Watching Mackenzie embrace this new side of herself was inspiring at times, she pushed herself past old limits, became more daring and went after what she wanted. Even if it almost landed her in trouble with the law, aka Danny. These two were a wonderful pairing, both harboring some past hurts, both unsure of letting love in again, and both completely smitten with one another. I really enjoyed this one, it was sweet, emotional, rich with feels, and SO good on the ticker!! Highly recommend!

I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher, via NetGalley request, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest opinion.

It’s always a joy to read one of Jo McNally’s contemporary romances. She has this wonderful ability of juggling the light and whimsical with the emotional and serious and she is on top form with her latest tale set in Gallant Lake, Her Homecoming Wish.

Mackenzie Wallace has spent most of her life being a good girl. She got good grades in school, never stayed out too late and always did as she was told and followed each and every single rule to the letter. Mackenzie had always believed that as the poster child for good girls everywhere she was going to grow up and be a happy, fulfilled and successful adult. Sadly, reality proved to be far different as she discovered when after leaving home with the world at her feet, she found herself back at Gallant Lake, divorced, alone and with absolutely no idea what she was going to do next with her life. Being back home was bad enough, but what’s even worse is ending up slammed against the wall and mistaken for a burglar by the town’s sheriff – and her former high school crush, her brother’s former best friend, single father Danny Adams.

In high school, Danny had been Mackenzie’s polar opposite. While she was a goody-two shoes, Danny had been a daredevil who was always getting into trouble and into all sort of scrapes. Nicknamed Danger Dan, obeying the rules was not something that came easily or naturally to him, but when tragedy struck, Danny had found himself with no other option but to clean up his act and grow up. Now a single dad with a responsible and dangerous job, Dan Adams is as far removed from Mackenzie’s high school crush as it is possible to get – even though he still makes her heart race!

Mackenzie wants to shed her good girl ways and Dan is the perfect man to help her unleash her inner vixen. She is not looking for a relationship or for a lifetime of commitment, but for some fun while she’s in town while her dad recovers in the hospital. Only the short-term fling she had envisaged quickly gives way to a love that simply cannot be denied. As their feelings for one another intensify, will Dan and Mackenzie give their relationship a chance? Or will Dan’s dark secret put paid to any chance the two of them might have of a future together?

Her Homecoming Wish is a terrific read guaranteed to make readers laugh and cry in equal measure. A brilliant contemporary tale about second chances, moving on from the past and coming home, Her Homecoming Wish is sprinkled with humor, laughter, warmth and pathos and features two irresistible characters you cannot help but fall in love with.

Emotional, uplifting and feel-good, Jo McNally’s Her Homecoming Wish is simply far too good to miss!
