I loved Jessie and Garrett's love story. My emotions were on a roller coaster ride the entire time. That's a good thing. When the story ended it stayed with me. The story continued in my daydreams for a few days after I read the last page.

Yesterday’s Promises is a refreshing romance read as the heroine is a tomboy (yet feminine). The characters are vivid and the plot winds around to a surprisingly soft landing. I could not see how the story would wrap up until it did, and kept me reading straight through the entire book.

It felt like two different books. The first part of the book felt like a lot of telling and not showing. You are told they fall in love but you really don't see it. This part felt like a really big summary. That said, the second part of the book was different in a good way. I was able to see the pain, the sacrifice, the love. If Ms. Thompson had written the first part how she wrote the second part, I would have given the book five stars. It may have probably been a longer book but it would have captured me from the beginning instead of having to wait until the second part. Four stars because the second part is everything you want in a book.

Great story

. I wanted more. I wanted a wedding with Gray and Jessie. I wanted to see Scott's reaction to the news that she was his mother.

I personally almost didn't finish this book. The first half was very hard to get through. Never the less the characters are what kept me going. Garrett stole my heart and I love a tomboy stubborn female. Especially one who back in this era stood out from the rest as a strong independent woman. I think that is why I kept reading. The book did take several twists and turns that I was just not expecting. By the end of the book I couldn't put it down and wanted more. I voluntarily reviewed this book after receiving a free copy.

Jessie or Jessica and Grey or Garrett were very believable characters as lovers and as a true couple of love because when it is true love the relationship is never easy there are always obstacles that they have to overcome. they do this on numerous occasions though out the story. Some of them are much harder than others to over come. He is a true gentleman and tries to protect her to the very last minute when he tries to let her know the truth about his feelings without actually triggering another traumatic event. He sends her a piece of his heart and soul in one of his paintings of her and a memory from their past. This is of her falling into his arms right before they made love for the first time. This does not trigger the memories but let her know she had to fight for him. What triggers the memories is the frantic ride to find him for the second time on his land which is the same land they consummated their relationship for the first time and numerous times afterwards. On that ride she remembers what happened to her and how she never made it, but also what caused her catatonic state and that was what her father said to her about Grey when she woke up alone in her bed injured and weak from the loss of blood and all of the injuries.

it is a great read and story that seems to not be fully over as I would love to know how things go telling Scott their son that she her mother and the subsequent wedding and life afterwards. I would love to know more of this story. Does Uncle Hollis sign the ranch over to them afterwards. Do they combine both ranches how does that work out. I also wonder what happens between Charlie T and Mrs. Jordan. There seems to be a lot to wonder about. Even the Characters of Kevin and Veronica what happens with them. Especially them as they both are suffering from unrequited love of the person they loved.

I can only hope there will be more on the horizon from these characters.

I received an ARC for this book. Jessica is returning home after spending time with her Aunt and Uncle. Her Uncle enlists Grant to travel with her and ensure her safety. The train is attacked by outlaws and Grant shoots the brother of the head of the gang. They travel to the ranch and during the journey, they fall in love. He finally manages to get her home where her father forces Grant to leave. When he outlaws capture Jessica and leave her for dead, Grant finds her and helps save her life. He then leaves to hunt down the outlaws. Jessica has lost the memory of her time with Grant and the attack. Jessica's father is cruel. When he discovers that Jessica is pregnant he decides to give the baby away. After the baby is born, he sends her back to her Aunt and Uncle.
When Grant finds out, he manages to get the baby and raise him. Several years later, Jessica's father is dead and she decides to return to the ranch. Since his death, Grant has been taking care of the ranch. Her Uncle and Aunt accompany her and advise Grant that he cannot tell her what happened, she must regain her memory by herself. Will Jessica recover her memory? Jessica immediately takes a disliking to Grant. Will Jessica recover her memory and remember her love for Grant? I enjoyed the book and would recommend it to those over 18.
