A Case for the Yarn Maker: A Cozy Mystery (Ainsley McGregor Book 2) Kindle Edition
Everyone at Bless Your Art in Sweet River, Texas, is excited about the Yarn Goddess (yes, that’s her real name) coming to town. Ainsley McGregor has set up a special event at the local community center, but when old Mrs. Whedon doesn’t see eye-to-eye with the Goddess about using quality yarn, a fight breaks out. Who knew the octogenarian had ninja moves like that?
It’s all fun and games until George Clooney, Ainsley’s Great Dane, finds Ms. Yarn’s dead body in a booth at Bless Your Art. Now the prime suspect is Mrs. Whedon, and while she’s not the easiest woman to get along with, there’s no way she’s the killer. At least, Ainsley doesn’t think so. As this yarn unravels, Ainsley and her quirky friends learn some interesting things about the case and the Goddess’s checkered past. But there’s a killer on the loose, and George may be the only thing protecting Ainsley from certain death.
For fans of clever mysteries with humor, quirky characters, and a touch of Southern charm.

- Reviewed in the United States on April 2, 2024Every book I have read by this author has been a winner, and this book was not exception. I must have finally read enough mysteries, because I actually guessed who the killer was before the revealing. Or, to be honest, just lucky with that book. The main and supporting characters are fun to read about and the main character, Ainsley is quite the role model for enterprising, yet gentle upcoming business owners. The plot is straightforward, and the premise was finding out who killed the knitting tycoon and why. It's tough when you can empathize a bit with the killer, even if you abhor the length they took with their revenge. I most definitely recommend this book.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 1, 2025This is the first book I’ve read by this author. It was engaging exciting. It made you laugh sometimes made you want to cry. I loved all the characters and the great thing dog. I’m looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 17, 2024This is the second Ainsley McGregor book. This is like a beach read or actually a Hallmark Mystery book. I bought all five that are out so far.

- Reviewed in the United States on April 18, 2020Ainsley & her ever adorable pup (read it for the name! It’s so cute!) are back in this fun sequel book. Haven’t we all cringed @ the “celebrity” we meet that ends up being a bit less than...sweet? I think she was one of my faves characters ever written by Candace. I loved the development of the surrounding characters & furthering of “the” romantic relationships we enjoyed in book 1. It’s not often I’m unable to figure out the ending of a cozy, but this one threw me for a loop - yikes! I loved it from start to finish. I pray we’ll get another story soon. Congrats to Candace & Tule Publishing on yet another great story in this mystery series. I am hooked.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 16, 2020I'm a sucker for a good cozy mystery, especially when it involves dogs and A Case for The Yarnmaker did not disappoint!
It reminded me a lot of the Hallmark Mystery movies that just embrace you like a warm blanket and you can't help smiling while watching (or in this case reading).
The perfect distraction for these crazy times!
- Reviewed in the United States on June 7, 2020book 2 in the series --a who-dun-it easy reading
