Life Stones: The Ammunition Needed to Overcome the Giants in Your Life Kindle Edition
When utilized, the “life stones” combat the natural tendencies to promote selfish tendencies and personal agendas which erode the eternal life that Christ provides that is centered on biblical principles. The goal of Life Stones is to draw people that are outside of the faith community of the church to the Lord Jesus and to edify the faith community itself to live a victorious and God-honoring life. Life Stones uses situations of both victory and defeat from Rick Harris’ forty-two years of pastoral and missionary experiences. With real-life situations, humor, and honesty Rick shows the contrast between a victorious Christian experience and a self-focused and self-absorbed existence. Life Stones addresses the defeats, frustrations, and fears that are common to all humankind…and the victory that is provided in utilizing “life stones.”

- Reviewed in the United States on July 23, 2020Having been a member of Rick's first church, there were two things I expected from this book: It would be the "no holds barred" truth; and it would be full of interesting illustrations. The book was exactly that: the truth and very interesting enjoyable reading. My wife and I read it together for our morning devotions, and found it a great way to prepare us for the real world we would face that day. God is doing a work in the American church today to separate the believers from the pretenders and I believe this book will cause anyone to face the truth about who they are. Tom R.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 12, 2020I bought this book last fall in paperback before it was available on Kindle, and had a hard time putting it down. The author is about my age, so many of his stories resonated with me. After the first chapter, I made myself read just a chapter at a time, though often tempted to move quicker. This stories in this book will often make you laugh, the insights will make you think, and the challenges will convict you. The study questions at the end of the chapters are a nice bonus. This book is a great addition to any Christ follower's library.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 26, 2020A great read tied nicely together at the end. Each chapter can stand on it’s own, but are brought together nicely. Great book to read a bit at a time. Doesn’t have to be read all at once.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 26, 2020I loved the layout of this book. Each chapter was a "stone" to add to your bag of ammo as you walk through this life of challenges. The Excellence stone, the Competency stone, the Family stone - the list goes on and on and each chapter is filled with the author's true life experiences that help illustrate each life stone. The applications to our own lives are plentiful and the Stones for Thought page at the end of each chapter is thought provoking and easily lends itself to group discussion. A real thumbs up!
- Reviewed in the United States on February 4, 2020We all face trials, giants, in our life. Those difficult situations and people that could break us or at the very least keep us from truly living. Rick Harris relates to our human side with his own stories of success and failure, sense of humor, and straight up truth. If you want to begin living a life that is overcoming and not so overwhelming, Life Stones, is a good starting place. The study guide at the end of each chapter is an added bonus to read with friends or in a small group.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 10, 2020Pros:
The chapters were quick and punchy.
I laughed out loud many times as the stories unfolded.
I found the lessons to be easily applied to my own life.
The stories almost sounded too good to be true, which made them all the more powerful.
The "Stones for Thought" at the end of each chapter are a great tool for a small group at any level.
Cons:
There were only 28 chapters.
The slingshot was sold separately. Bummer!
