A story of tiny squirrel-riding forest dwellers. . .

The fox was gaining, the squirrels' sides were heaving. Fir could feel Red's heart beating wildly under his heels. He could feel his own heart beating through his throat and head. He heard a snarl right behind him. He thought it was the end. Leaf shouted.

"Climb!"

Can the fugitives bring peace to their peoples?

"We aren't going to let you use us in your war against the Swamp'uns," said Fir. Silence followed. The faces of the River'uns were stern, including Lune's. Willwind's jaw jutted forward.

"What he means," said Laurel, rushing into the void, "is that we can't help you with your war, because we have to go stop our own." She looked at Fir with an expression he could only interpret as, are you crazy?

Top review from the United States

This book is a fantastic fantasy novel! When I started reading it, I knew it was going to be an amazing book, and it was! The plot centers around imaginary forest-dwellers called "Those Who Dwell." These human-like creatures are smaller than squirrels, which Those Who Dwell ride to get around the forest. The author has created an enchanting fantasy world. My granddaughter also says that it's a great book for ages 12 and up (or a good book to read to your younger children). You will be delighted by this book.
