‘Just the man who protected you from your nightmare.’ And so it began…. Ellie Isaacson certainly has a way to grab the reader and keep them totally engulfed in her story. The Hitman was a definite page turner throughout! Lia and Yanny were the main characters, however, Ellie didn’t skimp on the attention to detail for all of the characters including Lia’s best friend Britni and Yanny’s sister, Natalia.

A definite must read!

The blurb is super interesting and the book is an excellent concept. I wish the book had followed the blurb. My criticism is from the beginning, the author seemed to forget that we as the reader have not been introduced to these folks, we have no idea who these characters are, and no idea about the worlds they live in or the lives they lead. The book started out very confusing and didn't really stop being confusing. The characters and the story was all over the place. The characters and the world they lived in would have benefitted from some solid direction and fleshing out.

First time reading Ellie Isaacson. I'm glad I already have the entire series, because a few more people need to be held accountable.

This grabbed my attention from the start, I could have easily read this in 48hrs had it not been for: a job; furbabies; household needs; classes; and sleep.

My version of a happy ever after, ended exactly where I hoped.

I forgive the author for making me cry a few times, they were necessary scenes for the progression of the story.

I'm still questioning if one character is truly trust worthy; something seems off, hope it's resolved in another book. No, I'm not going to elaborate and possibly spoil it for the next person. It's a great book with just the right about of spicy.

And let’s not forget the spice 🥵 thought fair warning that you should review the trigger warnings of sexual and physical abuse before picking up this book

I really enjoy a darkly intense storyline of enemies-to-lovers under grim circumstances as with Geissinger's and Anna Zaires's series. This book has a very good storyline foundation but had weak spots and too much repetition of the same scenes, almost word-for-word. Yanny exhibited too much openly dramatic angst too often, I thought. The story chugged, not flowing. For a successful hitman operation, logistics and technology should have been more advanced and prevalently used. Lia's coat, cell, etc were bugged but it didn't help Yanny locate her? The ending was a bit over the top for the new couple to be instantly sexually aroused over killing a guy, even if the guy so very well deserved it. Felt more like a horror movie ending than retribution.
I did tremendously enjoy how Yanny and Lia met, Lia's icy parkbench vigil over her friend, the family's strength and devotion, dear Mosha, the portrayal of the bad guys, and much more about the book. This was my first Isaacson book so I will read the next to see if there's improvement. I am hoping so. There is so much potential in her writing.
