Next Guy Through The Door: A shy girl alpha male romance novella Kindle Edition

4.1 out of 5 stars 118 ratings

A personal challenge. Some personal growth. And a hot guy who thinks she’s perfect.

Lindsay:
Those dark eyes – so seductive. Almost dangerous.
I forced myself to speak to him anyway.
Things flashed by so quickly, it was overwhelming.
If I wanted an amazing boyfriend, I’d have to learn how to deal with bumps in the road.

Dale:
I noticed her the second I walked in, but she was with friends.
Thank goodness she came to me.
Those sweet curves, that soft, pale skin.
Lindsay was my perfect, gorgeous doll.
But she’s fragile. Perhaps more shy than I’d realized.
I knew this was too much, too fast.
I just hope it’s also not too late.

***
A standalone romance novella. No cliffhangers, no cheating, and a sweet HEA.

I just love everything Haley Travis writes and this book is no exception. This story about Dale and Lindsay who meet when she is trying to overcome her anxiety about talking to men, hits all the right notes. There is just a tiny amount of angst that results in both of them learning more about how to navigate their relationship better. These books are always so sweet, you can't help but smile when you read them!

    Safety and Spoilers

Safe. No om drama, slight ow drama. Ow drama is indirect, ow is his ex who works in the same industry and they sometimes work together. She didn’t know she was causing any problems, I don’t even think she saw the h at all.
H said he doesn’t date a lot and hasn’t had a girlfriend longer than a month.
    h is a virgin.
    No cheating or abuse.

    -no cheating
-no ow/om drama- she was intimidated by his ex but it was brief and the ex never said a word to her. It was actually unnecessary for it to be an ex.
-virgin heroine/ no info on hero
    -no violence
    -ok epilogue several months later

Haley Travis did a great job on this story, the plot and characters were strong. Lindsay and Dale had an instant attraction, there was a strong pull between them. The chemistry was steamy between them. They were made for each other.
This was a great story. Thanks, Haley Travis. Great work :)

Lindsay's terribly shy, so the longing to have a significant other is kinda hard to fulfill. A night out with her girlfriends leads to a dare that leads to a handsome stranger that leads to incredible conversation, a mind-blowing first kiss, and a driving need to see each other again soon. Dale's taken by the beautiful woman at the bar he walked into and is blown away by her boldness in approaching him. Between light conversation, laughter, and smiles, he knows that what he feels for her, know that she, is special.

Lindsay has an emotional hangup though, one that rushes forward with a vengeance when a situation with Dale makes her feel insignificant and invisible, forgotten. A few days of ghosting him gives her time to regroup and write it all out. Seeing him again gives her a chance to explain, a chance for him to explain he came to same conclusion and apologize.

There were so many good things about this story, things that gave the story drive, things that gave it depth. Like Lindsay's friends. They weren't pushy in trying to get her out of her shell and meet someone. They reasoned with her like only longtime friends can, understanding her reluctance while helping keep her dream in sight. I like that Lindsay took time to write out her feelings and thoughts. Sometimes it's the best way to make sense of what's in one's head. The jumbled mess makes sense when it's visible. I like that Dale didn't dismiss her explanation, especially since it's the same one he came to, and that his recognition of it was genuine.

This was a great short read for me. It's overall sweet and endearing, even with the intense attraction Lindsay and Dale share.

If you can't handle insta-love and need something more drawn out and angsty, go on and skip this one.
If short, sweet/sexy is your jam, this book is right up your alley!

I felt that the author had the ability to convey some depth to the personalities of the characters bringing a greater sense of reality to her story, which is tough to do in a shorter read.

Quick read. The author has given us a shy girl that accepts her friends challenge to talk to the next man through the door of the pub. Once Lindsay begins to speak with Dale, they realize that they have a connection that they should pursue.

Lindsay - the shy girl out with her girlfriends, talking about getting her out of her shell. She agrees to talk to the next guy that walks through the pub door. Dale is that guy, flattered that she's talking to him, and they plan a date. This is such a sweet book. Dale gets busy at work, and not paying enough attention to Lindsay's feelings. She has trust issues relating to her father leaving the family, and she's not so good at communicating because she's so shy, and reading over her journal helps her figure out what to do. They do make a very cute couple, and I love their happy ending.
