4.4 4.4 out of 5 stars 4,501 ratings

A captivatingly funny and deeply emotional new standalone romance by New York Times best-selling author Melissa Foster.

When the Dark Knights at Bayside and the cast of Bayside Summers collide, sparks fly, and trouble is not far behind.

Set on the sandy shores of Cape Cod, the Wickeds feature fiercely protective heroes, strong heroines, and unbreakable family bonds. If you think bikers are all the same, you haven't met the Dark Knights. The Dark Knights are a motorcycle club, not a gang. Their members stick together like family and will stop at nothing to keep their communities safe.

Their stories are told in the same loving, passionate voice listeners have come to adore in Melissa's other series. Some of the Wickeds’ love stories will be hilariously fun and deeply emotional, others will tear at your heartstrings and include injections of humor, but they will all leave you wishing you could climb between the pages and join them!

In A Little Bit Wicked

What do a cocky biker and a businesswoman who has sworn off dating bad boys have in common? According to Chloe Mallery, not much. But Justin Wicked has had his eye on her for a long time, and he is sure the inescapable heat between them runs far deeper than just physical attraction. Could their difficult pasts be drawing them together, or will Justin’s protective nature be too much for Chloe’s independent heart to accept?

Buckle up for a spectacular ride, and fall in love with Justin and Chloe in A Little Bit Wicked, a fun, sexy standalone romance.

This book was a WHOLE LOT OF WICKED! ;)
5 Stars
This book was a WHOLE LOT OF WICKED! ;)
A LITTLE BIT WICKED is a tease of a title because this book was a WHOLE LOT OF WICKED!Yes it was everything I had hoped for and soooo much more! Justin Wicked and Chloe Mallery have been dancing around one another for a while and I knew it was just a matter of time before they came together but as each of their friends paired off I was beginning to wonder what was happening with these two.Justin was relentless in his pursuit of Chloe since they first met, he constantly flirted with her and is right there anytime she needs a helping hand. Chloe was always shooting him down. I have to say I never understood what her hangup was because even though he's a biker you know he's a good guy, he had shown it time and time again. Well wonder no more, all of my questions have been answered and now it all makes sense on why the long wait.Melissa Foster has done it again, she has brought us even more people to love in this new series. The Wicked: Dark Knights at Bayside is entwined with the larger Love In Bloom series but each and every book can be read as a standalone because each story focuses on one couple and doesn't end with a cliffhanger.I have said this many times, I highly recommend Melissa Foster's books. If you enjoy Contemporary Romance, Friends-to-Lovers, or Opposites Attract, this story is the one for you.Happy Reading!!!**I have voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Readers Copy of this book for my Blog, Nadine's Obsessed with Books**

"'Two pieces of driftwood looking for their island. That’s you and me.'"
If there was ever a book I wanted to live in, this is it. From the setting, to Justin and Chloe, to the people who surround them, and so much more, everything is spot on. If I could have given this a 10/5, I would have.
This is my favorite Melissa Foster book, and I'm not sure if that'll change soon, regardless of how many books of hers I read.

There is nothing little about Justin "Maverick" Wicked. Justin is everything. Physically, he's a biker, he's hot, he has a lot of tattoos. But everything else about him is actually even better. His heart, the way he gives everything of himself to people, his love for animals, his protectiveness, and his perseverance. He knew he wanted Chloe, and he knew he wasn't just physical. And so he waited. Have I mentioned he's a romantic AND a dirty talker?

Chloe's my kind of strong leading lady. She's been through so much, both as a child and as a woman, and she came out of it stronger. Maybe a bit battered and bruised on the inside, and a lot guarded about who she gives her heart to, but alive and kicking. It's endearing to see she's so passionate about her job, and she cares so much about everything she does. She enjoys the small things, because she never had much. She's a lot - and it would take a special man to take in everything she is.

So, Justin's wanted Chloe basically since the first time he saw her, about a year and a half ago. He tries to flirt, he tries to get closer, and he puts every move he knows on her, but she's not having it. And we know why that is, but the poor guy doesn't. And still, he doesn't let up. He's just there for her, and he's determined to change her mind, because he knows they're right for each other.

We also know Chloe's not immune to Justin's charm, or to anything about him, but she tries her best to be. She tries to avoid what's going on. Until one night at the bar, and later at the beach, when they trust each other with everything they are and everything that made them what (and who) they are, and they let each other in.
And it's perfect in all its simplicity.
Once these two people decide they want to be together, there's nothing but communication: with their words, their eyes, their bodies. It's heartwarming. And they are scorching together, while being so amazingly in love.

This is the first book in a series, and we get a lot of characters from past (and future) novels. And we get a family, because that's what the Dark Knights are. It's beautiful to see how they're there for each other, for the community, how they never ever let themselves hurt – or celebrate – alone. This really touched my heart, the way every other book of Melissa's I read: I come from a really small family, and this makes me feel like I belong.

"You made me realize that all those things I collected were just buoys helping me remain afloat in a sea of hopes and dreams. But you are my safe haven, my happy place. You are my island, Justin, and I want to be yours."
This is the kind of book you want to go back to, because it's a happy book. The angst that does exist has nothing to do with Justin and Chloe together, and everything to do with the rest of the world.
They both have pasts they need to heal from, and the only way to do it is by letting each other in, and by loving each other through it.
It may have taken them a year and a half to get here, but they're definitely not letting go now. Once you have it, you know you do.

I can't wait to read more of this series!

A Little Bit Wicked (The Wickeds: The Dark Knights at Bayside Book 1) by Melissa Foster features a heat-seeking alpha who lives up to his name. Justin has a wicked tongue making him drool and swoon-worthy. This alpha hero is also as sweet with a heart of gold as he is charming and smooth. But that’s not all, he is also loyal, professional and creative to boot. Not to mention, tattooed with a Harley.
The heroine to Justin is spectacular! What’s not to love about Chloe? She’s smart, beautiful, sweet, sassy, loving, loyal and has the biggest heart. It’s no wonder Justin fell at his first look.
A Little Bit Wicked takes Justin and Chloe through their paces. The plot is as emotional as it is hot. These two make up for ‘lost time’, and it’s explosive! The build up is fantastic and Justin, with his wickedly suggestive words, frequently adds fuel to their ever blazing fire!
I love the backstories of these characters and they enrich the whole book and gives them emotional depth. The Wicked family as well as the Bayside friends are wonderful and their interactions with this special couple is heartfelt, entertaining and often downright hilarious.
Overall, a romance not to be missed as this author never disappoints. Justin and Chloe’s HEA is absolutely no exception. A truly wonderful read all the way around.

A Little Bit Wicked - The Wickeds: Dark Knights at Bayside
By Melissa Foster

Finishing this book, I felt okay, maybe a little underwhelmed although I enjoyed the story. I was not fully disappointed in the ending because I started this series on book 5, His Wicked Ways, and then started the series from the beginning. (Side note: this is due to seeing Foster’s posts on IG, promoting the newly released His Wicked Ways book.) While each can be read as a stand-alone, I recommend reading in order if you enjoy the character building, even for main characters who transition to supplemental characters as a series progresses. Getting back to my point, having already read book 5, I was at an advantage to know how things would end up in the future for our main characters, Justin and Chloe. Had I not read book 5 first, I probably would have been disappointed at this ending, just because I would assume their story wouldn’t continue as the series shifted focus to a new character with each new book.

Essentially, A Little Bit Wicked showcases the love/hate friendship between Justin and Chloe, who have been friends for a year and a half. Justin adores Chloe and is constantly the male friend who calls her pet names and wants to just spend time with her. Chloe is a self-proclaimed independent woman whose past makes it hard to trust “tough guys”, ie Justin Wicked because he is in a motorcycle club. Despite the chemistry they both feel when they are together, Chloe continues to turn down Justin’s attempts to begin a relationship with her.

The majority of the books I have read this year have been written in the first-person POV and this one is written from a third-person POV. This took some adjusting for me to get used to, as it referred to the characters from the third-person POV unless they were directly speaking.

One of my absolute favorite parts of this book (and hopefully the entire series :) ) is that Justin’s cousin, Gunner, owns an animal rescue and the entire family is invested in helping to save animals, mostly dogs. On top of that, another cousin, Baz, is a veterinarian! I am a huge animal lover, so this was right up my alley, and I felt just as much compassion for these fictional animals as the family did on page in the book.

Characters – I enjoyed all of the characters, essentially. MMC, Justin, is swoon-worthy and perfectly written, in my opinion. The Wicked Family is huge and basically the most supportive & loving family anyone would hope to have in their lives; they work through their issues/challenges together and always have each other’s backs. (Sigh) There were times when I got really annoyed with the FMC, Chloe, and I’ll explain. Chloe is a self-proclaimed independent woman who does not need anyone to do anything for her, she’s raised her younger sister in her mother’s absence, and never knew her father. As a child, her mother frequently dated “tough guys” (this term is frequently used in the book) who rode motorcycles and several of them attempted to make a pass at her while her mother was not looking; her mother never believed her or protected her, or her sister, Sirena. For this reason, Chloe finds herself to be Sirena’s number one protector, even if that meant Chloe had to give up on things in her life to make it happen. She is college educated and works at a senior assisted living facility. She is fully invested in showcasing memories (scrapbooks/memory boards) for those who are a part of her life. She is logical, thoughtful, and kind-hearted. As the story begins, she is single and active on social dating apps, going on dates frequently. She runs an erotic book club with a friend, and really wants to find love in real life. Despite ALL OF THIS, for the first 30-35% of the book, her character very frequently makes assumptions that Justin is a “tough guy” – without asking questions, such a simple, “hey, what do you do in your motorcycle club?” So much of her preconceived notions and unfounded assumptions of Justin (and the Dark Knights MC) could have been cleared up had she not succumbed to irrational fear of the fact that Justin rides a bike and wears a leather cut as part of the Dark Knights, therefore he must be a “tough guy.” Additionally, they’ve been friends for over a year and in all of the history provided to us to lay the groundwork of their friendship turned romantic relationship, he has NEVER given her a reason to believe he would hurt her or had bad intentions – in fact, his actions have proven to be quite the opposite. This overexaggerated illogical reasoning drove me nuts – I was actually talking out loud as a I read, telling her that she’s too smart to actually believe these irrational thoughts. I understand traumatic experiences take a long time to work through and sometimes (IRL), people never fully recover from traumas. I did not think her level of irrational thinking, despite her history and past trauma in college, matched the type of character Chloe was described to be in the book. It did not jive to me and kind of felt drawn out. I could see a couple of thoughts, here and there, where she questioned Justin’s intent and what kind of person he is, however for it to last 1.5 years of her pushing him away for this purpose only, just seemed a little much to me. An independent, strong-willed person, in my opinion, would seek answers to determine if their assumptions had any foundation before chiseling said assumptions in stone, as Chloe did, especially when it comes to comparing a FRIEND to a person whose actions led to assault > 3 years prior. Had it been a few irrational thoughts followed up with questionable circumstances supported by factual evidence, I could have gone with it but to solely believe he's a “tough guy” because he rides a motorcycle, meanwhile they’ve been friends a while and know each other? Nope. (End rant.)

I enjoyed the plotline. It was structured well and provided sufficient history of the characters leading up to where the story kicked off. The climax of the book was predictable, but logically written with a sprinkled bit of foreboding throughout. There was nothing wrong with the climax of the book and the antagonist, I think I have personally read a lot of dark romance books recently that this felt like: 1 – pretty quick of a climax (no pun intended) and 2 – as previously mentioned, predictable in terms of which character would be the “tough guy.” Again, nothing wrong with this, I think I just enjoy more of a did-not-see-it-coming type of conflict.

I read the Kindle with Whispersync audio. I thought the male narrator did a great job. Outside of the main character’s voice, I did not enjoy the female narration, especially when she attempted a male voice during her dialogue. I don’t know what it was – maybe it just didn’t feel “real”? I found it hard to connect with the characters sometimes when the female narration was going.

Overall, I enjoyed the book and found Foster created great groundwork for all the characters within this family and group of friends who will all be included in the Wicked Series of books. I’m invested in seeing how the other stories pan out for the Wicked family, Foster has me hooked! The level of spice was just right for the tone and length of the book, not over the top. Once Chloe became rational, I totally swooned over her relationship with Justin as it developed. They are super sweet together and I can’t wait to read how their relationship continues to grow in the rest of the series, outside of what I already know from book 5. I probably wouldn’t re-read this book; therefore I would give it 3.5 out of 5 stars.

Oh I loved this book. It’s one of those ‘never want it to end’ reads. Justin was swoony, alpha and endearing. His loyalty is probably the most romantic thing about him. Chloe is a sweetheart and of course her character brings in all the old faces from Bayside. And Reba! We all need a arena in our lives - I adore her character. I could almost go as far as saying this just might be, maybe, almost, possibly, could be Melissa Foster’s best book yet! And did I mention the chemistry? 🔥
