Imminent Threat: A Young Adult Post-Apocalyptic Dystopian Series (The Separation Trilogy Book 1) Kindle Edition
It’s days before Kylie and her brother Luke’s eighteenth birthday. Where most teens would be preparing to celebrate, they are jumping out of planes and dodging arrows in preparation for Separation. The pair are recruits, known as Creations, designed for war. The time is rapidly approaching for them to accept their calling. These genetically altered twins were trained to be prepared for anything. But when they are snatched out of bed in the middle of the night and shipped off to Separation early, questions arise.
What’s really happening beyond the fractured sanctuary of the training compound? Who is behind the new virus attacking the people on their planet? As Creations, they aren’t supposed to feel anything. Why, then, is Kylie magnetically drawn to newcomer, Marc? As the truth about her identity is revealed, it puts both her and Luke’s lives in danger.
A new threat is rising, one no Creation is prepared to fight. But Luke and Kylie are no ordinary Creations... What happens to the world when the savior of the people becomes the enemy?
Fans of suspense-filled, young adult dystopian adventures will be left gasping by this engaging tale of zombies, aliens, and everything in between!
Author Note: Most suitable for readers 13+ due to mild language and violence. This book is a part of a series and ends on a cliff hanger.

- Reviewed in the United States on January 28, 2023Just ADORE where this series is headed!!:-). I love that there are sooo many sides to this story and all the secrets being revealed!!:-). But what I LOVE more than that is the ROMANCE!!!:-). Super deep and soul soaring!!!:-). LOVED IT!!:-)
- Reviewed in the United States on December 26, 2020I originally went for this book because it was labeled as a dystopian society. There is that part but there are also aliens and zombies. If I had know that, I would have never read the book, however it was good. Luke and Kylie are engineered twins with a mission. They are the best of the best and quickly rise above all Creations and Normals alike. I really enjoyed seeing the characters get fleshed out and part of me was always trying to figure out what the missing pieces of the puzzle were. Many were answered and the rest stay like little cliffhangers waiting for Book 2. While events seemed choppy to parts of my brain, the author wrote them in such a way that I was still able to wrap my brain around it and understand exactly who was who and what was going on. If Hunger Games + The Host + Walking Dead had a baby, it would be this book. Overall I enjoyed the read and look forward to the sequel.

By Felisha Antonette
Kylie Alexander and twin brother Lukahn Alexander are “Creations” from birth with the unique ability to heal each other. They are destined to go through a period of intensive training called “Separation.” A military organization, The Guidance have a program to fashion Creations such as Kylie and her brother as part of an elite defense unit, and devised the intensive training. The Guidance will command them and the other Creations when they go into battle to defend what remains of America after an extraterrestrial invasion.
This is a story of the training of Kylie and Lukahn. They are immensely talented and physically fit, but that is not enough. The must learn how to be leaders. They soon find that battles with the other trainees is only a prelude. They are soon faced with an invasion of zombies, the living dead, and even that may not be the worst thing they must face.
What I Liked:
The author, Felisha, is an excellent writer. She has created some memorable characters, the plot moves quickly, and the book is exciting. Her world-building is exceptionally good; she gives a great sense of place. This is a clean read, for the most part. There is no gratuitous sex and obscene language is minimal. Editing is pretty good. If you are looking for punctuation errors, Dear Reader, you will find them. But they do not intrude to the point that I find them distracting.
What I Did Not Like:
For starters, this novel is written in present tense and first person. This is a trend; it is an unfortunate one, in my opinion. I see it attempted fairly often yet never done very well. This book is no exception. It does give a sense of immediacy, but interferes with character development. The characters in this novel seem emotionally stunted. Perhaps that is intentional. If so, it is a bad idea; very bad. It makes it very hard to connect with the main characters or particularly care what happens to them. The next issue concerns the plot. There is a great deal of action, but it is repetitive, and does not advance the action. The journey seems pretty much stalled and repetitious. In fact, the entire novel is devoted to setting the stage and training Kylie and Lukahn. I got tired of that phase and wanted to see them graduate or do something else and proceed with their mission/destiny/purpose. But no! Just training and more training, with some zombie killing thrown in. Then the book suddenly ended with a cliff-hanger; I suppose so we readers would buy book two to see what happened. Unfortunately, enough must happen in the first book to make a reader care or want to go on. I, honestly, don’t care enough to do so.
Conclusion:
Sad to say, writing talent is not enough. The author shows talent, but that did not translate into a book that I could honestly recommend. I think it deserves THREE STARS for the flashes of excellence.

I started this book and got sucked in and could not put it down.
I really enjoyed the characters Kylie Alexander and twin brother Lukahn Alexander. and I really loved how their characters evolved throughout the story
I don't like to post spoilers. However I can say that I I'm very happy that's the book kept the action coming!
There were also so many good plot twists throughout the book. Some you see right away and some you don't see coming which I love. It was fast-paced and easy to read. I literally could not put it down and SO waiting for the next book
- Reviewed in the United States on September 30, 2020Okay This was very different from what I usually read, but I enjoyed it. It kept me guessing about what could happen next. I would never be able to make it in a society like that because I don’t like people telling me what I can and can’t do. But that is most people, if you are born to it, I guess you expect it. In this book you have zombies, aliens and superhumans. Come to find out the twins are working for what should be he bad guys. There are a few things that happen that have the twins questioning what they should do, I am sure that will play out in the next book. I am really looking forward to it! The narrator did an awesome job with this story.

- Reviewed in the United States on June 22, 2020Wow, what a cliffhanger ending! Just finished moments ago. Received a free copy from author, but review is my own. Story is about a group of 'super' soldiers, created to protect mankind from alien invaders. There are so many twists and turns, our teen heroes don't know who to trust. Very good beginning to this series. The only reason I didn't rate it higher, is because there's a little too much romance for my tastes. But the story and writing is very good. It's worth your time to give it a try!
- Reviewed in the United States on January 7, 2022I liked the premise behind the story, but found I had to struggle to keep reading it as I frequently got bored.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 13, 2020Kylie and Luke are twins with a secret. They are selected before birth to be in a special military unit. As such, they are given gene-therapy to make them better soldiers. Once they reach maturity, they are drafted and become leaders in a basic training camp of sorts.
Much of this book felt like it was inspired by Divergent. The Zombie twist is pretty cool. Where this story really shines is Kylie's character development and love interest. Talk about teenage angst! I was on the edge of my seat rooting for Kylie to find love.
Then then ending! Holy Cow! I may die waiting for the next book to be released on audio!

4.0 out of 5 stars An unusual world!
So, who turns out to be the bad guys? I got the good guys but there’s a few twists that keep you wondering. For a while anyway. I love the two sets of twins, Kylie and Luke, Marc and Sean. Though even secondary or supporting characters are believable and shine. Then there are the examinations of loyalty, love and responsibility. Learning to take command. Finding the way to not just survive but live under a very restricted regime. It was an exciting and fast moving story that never once lost focus.
