The New York Times bestselling author of Dying to Be Me returns with “a gorgeous and powerful field guide to the empath living in today’s wild world” (Laura Berman, PhD, author of Quantum Love) and how they can fully embrace their gifts of intuition and empathy.

Empaths not only sense other people’s emotions, but also absorb them—sometimes to their own disadvantage, often leading to overwhelming sensory overload and feelings of confusion or low self-esteem. Their willingness to help and please others might make them prey to opportunists or cause them to give away more energy than they can afford.

But Anita Moorjani argues that it’s possible to turn this onslaught of emotional burden into a powerful tool. In a time when traits like sensitivity, kindness, and compassion are sorely undervalued, Moorjani helps empaths—whether emerging or acknowledged—navigate obstacles they may face and identify what makes them unique. She teaches them how to claim their true powers as empaths and to be their most authentic selves.

Sensitive Is the New Strong is a book that provides you with groundbreaking information, tools, and exercises in understanding the challenges faced by empaths. You can learn how to protect your energy and thrive. A definite must-read for empaths and their loved ones” (Nick Ortner, New York Times bestselling author).

From the Author

If you enjoyed "Dying to Be Me", this one takes things a lot deeper -particularly if you are a sensitive or empathic soul. If you are an empath, this one was written with you in mind!

If you've read any of the books I've written or watched my video, courses etc, you'lI already know what I mean. I've spoken before about when I was on the other side, that is when I was in that near death state, which was while I was in a coma, my eyes were closed. I was lying in the hospital bed. The doctors thought I wasn't coming back, but in actuality, I continued to exist beyond my body. And I realized that the part of me that is not my body is far greater and far more powerful than I have ever been led to believe. But not only that, it is far greater and far more powerful than our physical bodies. So even after coming back into my physical body and continuing to live life as I do now, I'm aware that we are so much more than just this five sensory three dimensional body.

I realized that in actuality, we are six sensory or more beings. And the reason why so many of us struggle in this world and why, in fact, we are struggling is because our minds have been conditioned to believe that we are five sensory beings. So in other words, we are six sensory beings trying to squeeze ourselves into a world that believes we are five sensory beings. We are denying one of our senses, a very prominent sense.

Imagine that from the time that you were born, all your six senses are working fully. All your six senses are alert and awake. For example, notice how little babies and children are so much more intuitive than we are. They know when their mother has walked into the room, even before they can see her, and even without her saying anything. They just know it because they sense her.

But what happens is that as we start to 'grow up', it gets conditioned out of us. When our intuition tells us things, we get told, "Oh, that's your imagination. It's not real!" So we start to believe it, and we suppress it because we start to feel as though other people think we're crazy.

However, fast forward to all the issues of the last twelve months. I'm not sure whether I'm the only one, but I've noticed that people are turning inwards more, and trusting their intuition more. We've had no choice, because we are becoming so bombarded with conflicting information from mainstream media. More and more people seem to be interested in honoring their sixth sensory self, and in tapping into their intuition. I hope I'm right - but if I am, and that this current situation has caused people to become more in tune with themselves, then at least there is a silver lining.

Anita Moorjani has been at the apex of spiritual discussions since her astounding 2006 Near-Death Experience (NDE). In 2011, the illuminating story of Anita’s journey beyond the veil grabbed the attention of Dr Wayne Dyer, who then fostered her entrance into the world of public speaking. At Dr. Dyer’s insistence, Anita penned the New York Times Best Seller “Dying to be Me” (2012). Telling the story of how conflicting ideologies, fear and being a downtrodden empath created the cancer that drove her to her NDE, Anita’s chronicle of life and death has won millions of hearts over.

In recent years, Anita’s two other books "What if this is Heaven" (2017) and "Sensitive is the New Strong" (2021) have reached significant acclaim, helping people navigate a world that is increasingly loud and harsh. With the knowledge she gained from crossing over the divide between the physical and spiritual worlds, Anita’s expert advice shows people how to connect with spirit to find the support they need, no matter the issues they face. Anita’s wisdom and poignant story of life and death is also beautifully illustrated in two books for the young and the young at heart: “Love, A Story about who You Truly Are” and “Scaredy Caterpillar”. Both books cleverly share her message of the importance of embodying love in a fear-based world.

Born in Singapore to Indian (Sindhi) parents, raised in Hong Kong between the mixed Indian, British and Chinese cultures, Anita now lives in the United States. Over the last two decades, Anita has traveled the world sharing her insights of what it means to live joyfully and lovingly in a fear-based world. From her Social Media channels (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Tiktok) to her live retreats, extended workshops and week-long cruises, Anita creates a marinade that takes her followers from healing to whole. In her books and events, Anita continues to teach us the truth that we all have the inner power and wisdom to overcome even the most adverse situations.

Must have for an empath!
Learning that I was an empath was life changing information. It was a relief to know I'm not the only one. But with that information begged so many questions. How do I navigate this world? How do I even make it day to day? Get a job which is mutually beneficial for me and the employer? And so on. Right as I was asking... who ever would listen... I was graced with the gift of this book, "Sensitive is the New Strong". It holds the answers to my myriad questions. Anita explains, as if she's talking directly to me, why I am the way I am and how to best function in this world. She breaks the normal paradigm we've all heard, that you must suppress your ego, suppress negative thoughts (which for me caused 14 years of cancer! Energy needs to flow, not be suppressed!). She encourages us to embrace them because they exist, in all humans and we should not be ashamed but rather focus awareness on them and love them because they are part of us. Everything she says in this book just makes so much logical sense to me. And it's easily applied in day to day situations. I physically feel lighter after reading this book.Anita also offers several exercises to strengthen our energy. I loved the concepts so much I actually photo copied those four pages and I keep them accessible daily. I adjust whatever steps to feel more true to myself but these simple ideas have made a world of difference. I especially love her concept of "running your energy". All of these things help me when I'm feeling stuck in a funk or moody for no particular reason. She begins each chapter with a mantra and closes each chapter with a meditation. Again, I loved those so much I actually typed each one out in a Word Document and printed it out so I can refer back often. This book is the answer to my prayers. Anita is so eloquent in her delivery and so darn logical in content. If you are an empath or even a little sensitive, this book will offer insights which you'll appreciate.

While the formula makes SO much sense and the process it outlines is actually both reasonable and logical it actually is even more powerful than that. When in the process of searching for a job one is undertaking a task that probably at worst is faced only a handful of times during one entire sitting career (I expect more and more frequently however as it works continues to evolve and change.... and jobs even more so. Those who HAVE those openings are trained and experienced in how to handle their end of things this making the whole procedure very one-sided.
This book gives the one searching for a job, career, position the proper mindset, understanding and training to not only obtain a satisfying and searching job but to do so whole feeling very good about the process..... and themselves. This should be a life skill taught to EVERY person before they ever enter the "job market".
Not only are the information and lessons invaluable but it is also written in a story form that keeps you involved and the whole process moving easily along. Instead of teaching you "lessons " and seemingly dry procedures, the author allows you to follow one persons journey throughout the book who encounters probably 90% of every job-seekers setback or situation. She then encounters the coach who takes her through all the steps of finding and securing a new job. We follow along as she is coached through the process, learns how each step works from both the seekers AND prospective employers viewpoint, successfully navigates the waters and ends up not only obtaining her goal but enjoying the process.
This is an absolute MUST READ for anyone dealing with the job market. Truly indispensable AND enjoyable.

When I saw Anita being interviewed about this book it seemed like it could be just what I needed, and it was. Anita offers a very grounded down to earth analysis of the benefits and challenges of being an empath, then gives suggestions for how to think about and manage the difficulties and how to expand upon and support the benefits. I felt like I had been stumbling around in the dark my whole life in regards to my own sensitivity and Anita just flipped on the light switch. "Oh! Now I get it!" I handed it to a friend while on a short camping trip recently and she had nearly read the whole thing by the time we parted ways -- the book with her of course! Thank you so much Anita for your books, your good heart, and your practical bent as a self-help helper!

I have so much regard for Anita Moorjani and watch her on videos, etc. Her story is very interesting and she describes her journey very well in her first book. This book is well written but it is directed toward people who are "sensitives." I am not a sensitive but the information is interesting. I wish I was, however. I did not finish the book and passed it on but I do recommend it.

This book touched my heart. As an artist, I have received a lot of criticism over the years. An artist doesn’t do his work for something to pass the time or just because he enjoys it, it’s a coping mechanism for emotional sanity.

Sensitive is the New Strong, helped me break out of a toxic relationship, and discover that a coworker was a fake person. Empaths take what others see to not be any big deal, so intensely. I am a Pisces ♓️. Being the last sign of the zodiac wheel, pisces is a sensitive, feminine water sign.

This book helped me be a lot more aware of what it means to love myself more before lending a hand to others and that I lack a lot of masculinity. After all, you do need to be a friend to yourself before you can be someone else’s friend.

This book offers a down-to-earth spiritual perspective on being an empath as well as valuable tools. It completely changed my outlook on life and gave me so much reassurance. Anita Moorjani put so much into words that I had intuitively felt, but never had a frame of reference for. This book gave me some missing pieces about how I am and how I function in the world. Now I have practices in place to support me and I feel excited about harnessing my sensitivities and gifts.
