Editorial Reviews

Review

"I was born and raised in Missouri. My career as a race car driver has taken me all over the United States. Although I have great memories from many places, some of my favorite spots are in the Show Me State! Racing at dirt tracks in small towns across the state, spending time with life long friends, taking in a Cardinals game, family float trips on the river, and eating at local restaurants that serve regional specialties always remind me of how proud I am of my home state."―Ken Schrader, race car driver

"McCandless's unabashed love for small-townAmerica is evident in this guide to Missouri's less-populated cities and towns."―

We love just going for a drive to explore different towns and areas. This book gave us information about towns we had been to, but missed out on some of the restaurants or shops that are good, but not always noticed.

I have become a firm believer that you have to get off the interstate if you want to see America. My wife and I have begun to build diversions into our road trips so that we can enjoy the country roads and small towns. We have already visited several of the small towns in this book and now we are excited to use this as a guide to many more. Well written and organized, and beautifully illustrated.
