Lovers: Wolves of Royal Paynes Kindle Edition
Affectionately referred to as, the twins, Jagger and Huntley aren’t related, but that’s the only thing the two alphas don’t have in common. Eerily identical, if it weren’t for the scar Jagger earned saving Huntley’s life as children, no one would be able to tell them apart. Together, there isn’t a challenge they won’t face. Breaking into a hellish laboratory where enemy scientists are conducting gruesome experiments is no different. Their mission is clear, save who they can and burn the rest, but when they come upon a locked door behind a barricade that looks months old, they know that whatever is inside, isn’t like anything they’ve faced yet.
Ripped from his mother’s arms and thrown into a cell as a child, Sitka hasn’t seen a living person in years. He sees their footsteps under the door when they slide in his food, but no one has dared face the crazed nephilim who can hop shadows—not after what he did to the last two who entered his cell. Still, his life is far from peaceful. Sitka can’t stop seeing dead people. They scream at him without rest, their voices angry and loud enough to make living a normal life impossible—even if he hadn’t spent most of it locked away. When the room to his door randomly bursts open, Sitka assumes the two men are there to finally kill him.
Huntley and Jagger knew something unusual was behind that door, but they didn’t expect their mate. He swings at them like a wrecking ball, making them realize what they had was just one half of the equation. Sitka completes them, but Sitka’s own angelic power is his worst enemy.
When strange things start to happen around the hotel, no one wants to blame the flighty nephilim who can jump shadows and talk to ghosts, but the list of suspects is short. And Sitka wasn’t the only victim rescued from the labs. As the reclusive wolf pack learns how to live with growing numbers, they can’t forget the danger looming over all their heads. A powerful force wants them all dead.

Let me start with a comment about sex. This book has a lot of sex in it. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Now I've been a little jaded lately so I do tend to flip past those pages but the Author will rev your engines. There is no trigger warning needed for this book. The only dubious consent would be to my mind was upon meeting, the Nephillim was literally crawling all over the two rescuers/mates who managed to hold him off and kept it to just kissing.
This story picks up with the Twins. We learn more of their back story before they head off to destroy a Portal base and rescue any prisoners. Btw I loved the "rescue" green school bus. This is where they find their mate: his father is one of God's Archangels and Sitka as his son has heavenly powers which the bad guys (Portal) want to exploit.
So once the Destroy part of the mission is over the Pack - that's the good guys who are a bunch of shifters in this Pack to which the Twins belong - loads up the bus with the Rescues, the Twins take Sitka in a Hummer, and everyone drives on back to Hotel Payne where the rest of the Pack, I think ... 5 babies? 1 dog? 300 mice. 3 other Nephillim or is it 2? How many Humans? There're more shifters guarding everyone. What the heck is the Doctor? Is someone a flying squirrel?
I know there's gonna be a traitor sooner or later. There's mystery and love, laughter, danger, a whole lot of need for psychotherapy, and maybe a Reader should create a fashion Pinterest page for this Pack.
These people/shifters/angels/ghosts are gonna save the World. Uh huh. Right after the realization that not one of them even knows what a bathroom plunger is; Hallie knows but she damn well isn't the maid - calling Al the Maintenance guy!
See? Funny stuff there. Bathroom humor. I'm sick. But the book is lovely and I look forward to the last in the Series. 👍👍
The suspense and Portal business was incredibly intriguing this time around too. While I think it’s pretty obvious who the bad guy is, it didn’t detract from enjoyment. Pair that with Sitka’s incredibly cool and unique nephalim abilities, and this story was just intriguing and un-put-downable the entire time.
I received this as an ARC for an honest review.
All my friends welcomed me back into their lives. This episode features the "twins", Huntley & Jagger. Their alpha bond isn't complete, until they rescue Sitka, another nephilim. Sitka talks to ghosts & shadow hops. Their relationship will be challenged. Danger threatens. And courage & strength will astound you. You will love this book!
I can't wait for the next & final book. You need to read the first two books in this series. And since they make an appearance here, reading the Wolves of Walker County saga is a wonderful idea.
This book contains adult themes and language, mm sex and is intended for mature readers only.

This time around the pack is more prepared for a nephilim. Jazz has become their leader in a way and he has no problem declaring that Sitka is safe, even as he acts a bit like a feral creature. Finding out that Sitka sees angry ghosts that only go away with contact to one of his alphas puts an odd spin on things but makes the trip very close quite quickly. Sitka needs time to learn again how to be out amongst people and how to have a family again. His whole life has been running and fighting. Jagger and Huntley don't try to change him; they are proud that Sitka can defend himself and take his own needs. They do love him though and help him flourish as Sitka relearns the outside world. As Sitka communicates more it also becomes clear he knows more about Portal's plan and just what could be awaiting the pack and the world.
A truly excellent third book that promises an excellent ending to this storyline in the fourth!
That is why I forced myself to read up to the point when he and the Baby were safe. The bad guy was so obvious from the beginning that the fact nobody saw it was extremely enfuriating. I was never so angry at bad writing in my life. Everybody was acting so stupid it bordered on brain damage. Those Alphas treat their mates like little children while being completely useless and brainless, with a memory like an Alzheimers patient.
This is the 8th book I read of the author and I liked the others, but this left me so angry I wont finish the series. I couldnt even bring myself to read the little "happy chapter" at the end.
