I like this series. I like this book the best. Plenty of mysterious people and occurrences. There are surprises in the plot. We learn a little about Blasko's past. Josephine and Blasko get closer to each other. I did not expect some if the things which occurred. I look forward to the next book.

My first comment is: how did Mr. Howe come up with this premise for a series? As for a review, I have to say I love the book & the series itself. I do recommend reading the books in order as the relationships move in a linear fashion. The plots are very well thought out, & I’m thoroughly enjoying his mix of paranormal & straight forward mystery. Keep them coming!

AE Howe can spin a tale. This novel takes place in a very smarmy Florida location where people are part fish! this is explained in the novel. It's about a "fish" god ancient cult. along with the baron, there are other characters staying in the hellhole but they are seeking treasure. Murder and mystery ensue. It is a great read!

This series is hardly great literature, but it has been an enjoyable read until this book. I can't figure out whether the big island stand-off at the end is appalling writing or tongue in cheek. It was an annoying and idiotic Saturday Night Live sketch at best. I can get past that, but what I can't ignore is that because the romance is never resolved, I wanted to make sure it is by the end of the last book. Before I read Tentacles, I went to the end to find out and there was Blasko sitting down to read about a possible way forward, but that's all. Given this was no ending and I greatly dislike cliffhangers, especially at the end of a series, I was not even going to read the book. However, the next page said, "Book 5, Scales, is coming in 2021." Only it is not. I have searched Amazon and online in 2022 and there is no sign of it. Howe has moved on to other series. So if you are happy to have nothing actually happen with such an unusual couple, fine, otherwise, skip this mess. But Mr. Howe, I will buy no more Larry Macklin or any other book from you. Readers actually matter.
