Perfect!
My son made his first dish today: Minestrone soup! It was delicious! We did unhealthified it quite a bit, but a bit of sugar & salt for taste.. My son is 8, & the directions were clear. I still needed to be there to keep him on track, & make sure he's following it correctly, but he did an awesome job! He's excited to try a few more dishes!Update 3/8 Made the pancakes before seeing the other reviewabout a pancake error, & we completely agree. They must've mixed the crepes on the page before the pancakes. Way too much buttermilk & extremely thin pancakes, so we overloaded our pancakes with maple syrup! :)

AWESOME cookbook for kids. Easy to follow recipes for good readers. Just had a 'chopped challenge' with two 8 year olds and a 9 year old and they made recipes independently (and LOVED it). The recipes are things our family would actually want to eat at a meal and not the typical lame kids recipes I found in most other kid cookbooks. It's something your little chef can grow with. I'll use some of the recipes myself. Most recipes have photos, but some (like a smoothie or ranch dressing) don't, which aren't necessary anyways. It has a great variety of recipes like: pizza dough, white bread, biscuits, pie dough, butterscotch sauce, kettle corn, fruit crisp, brownies, chocolate swirl cake, sloppy joes, french toast, eggs in a hole, yogurt pops, heart shaped scones, fruit and granola bars, guacamole, sesame noodles, fish tacos, tortellini alfredo, and many more! I went back and bought another book for a gift along with the kids chef knife set. This book exceeded my expectations for kids cookbooks. I like that kids actually will COOK with it, not assemble. It's great!

I bought this cookbook for my 4.5 year old who loves to cook with me. Obviously, he cannot read and he can't do these recipes on his own, but that's not why I bought the book. He loves to look through pictures (and there are many!) and tell me what he would like to cook with me this week. The recipes are simple, kid-friendly, and there's plenty for him to help with. His favorite recipes so far are the sloppy Joe's and cinnamon French toast. I made him a cute little apron to go along with it, and he told me this was his favorite present!

I bought this for an 8 year old boy. In the past he has shown an interest for cooking. It was awesome, I so scored getting my grandson this. It was for birthday not Xmas. He spent easily an hour going thru it looking at the great pictures and then at the chapter info in the front. He was reading cooking instructions and kept exclaiming "I can do this" By the time they went home he had a dozen things he wanted to make right away. It does have a spiral binding so lays flat on the counter and the pages seem like you could wipe them off with a damp cloth without damaging them. Of course he's 8 so somethings going to get damaged. In the meantime I am the coolest Grandma

This cookbook for kids is great! It's not a traditional kids cookbook, meaning their aren't a lot of recipes for peanut butter and jelly sandwiches or ants on a log... and we love this! Instead, there are actual recipes for a budding chef, including "easy french crepes," "broiled grapefruit halves," "teriyaki chicken bowls," "pizza margherita," and those are only a few from breakfast and lunch! This book breaks it down in easy-to-do steps, and of course younger children will need extra help (my little chef is 6 years old), but this book walks them through creating a meal that is impressive and that the whole family loves! The illustrations are also great and gives a kid an idea of how they would like to present their masterpiece! Overall, it's a great cookbook for a child who is comfortable in the kitchen and eager to try new recipes!

I bought a bunch of these here on Amazon for a few dollars each for my daughters who expressed interest in learning how to entertain and cook for themselves and company, most of the books in the series are great for just this purpose, being a Disabled Veteran on a fixed income I really wouldn’t want to pay the full retail price and judging by the sheer abundance of used copies for next to nothing I am not the only one who didn’t.

TLDR great when bought used recommended at a used price.

My 10 year old opened this among electronics, fashion, toys and games this Christmas morning. This book has so far gotten the most use! She right away volunteered to find a recipe to contribute to family breakfast, and we all enjoyed made-to-order crepes courtesy of the recipe here. She was very proud to do it with very little assistance (except stove supervision), and asked if we could start a new Christmas tradition of crepes for breakfast. They turned out great, and everyone was impressed.

Now we're approaching dinner time and she is combing through the book for a contribution to make as a side item.

In her words, other kid cookbooks she has looked at claim to be "expert" level but only go as far as the very basic food items with no challenge or feeling of accomplishment. This one made her feel like she was actually cooking (and she was!).

It's pretty early to give a full review, but based on these initial experiences and excitement, I'd say this book is a winner.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great first cookbook

I bought this for my little sister, I think it’s a great first cookbook for someone who’s just learning the basics and for when your skills grow. I think she will feel like a chef with this!! My only complaint is that the cover is a bit loose where the book bends because on the inside it’s a coiled book. So just don’t man handle it.

A good book. However some ingredients might not be availably locally in India and you will need to use substitutes. But keeps the child wanting to do more.

Boughf this for my grandaughter's 10th birthday and it was perfect. Easy to follow recipes for things she likes to eat. Also the coil binding in side the cover allows it to lie flat on the kitchen counter when using.
