Just finished book 8. You may not believe this but, thinking it was the last book, I actually put it down for over a week. I like this series so much I didn’t want it to end. So I didn’t read the last third of the book trying to delay the inevitable. Eric, you have published a truly great epic! The characters are lovable. And hated. And feared. The core group grows and you will laugh and cry with them. You will feel their pain and cheer their victories. I have read all these books non-stop from about page 10 of book 1. I am confident that this series will be loved by many and I whole heartedly recommend it to all. Be careful though as you are liable to lose sleep and miss appointments in the process!

This finally ties up a lot of loose ends from the previous books, so definitely read those before picking this one up. It was a great book, though it seemed to start a bit slow.
I can't wait to find out what happens next to Kila Sigh!

Dagger of Deception is easily the longest book in the series... And the darkest for so many reasons.
The God Kil was born and Kila took the baby to teach her to be good, renaming her Saiya.
Whereas Kila Sigh was the focus of the world and many a scheme to gain control of her in order to prevent annihilation of the world, all those very same factions now shifted their focus to Saiya.
But the real danger arising is only now starting to manifest as Kila's brief dalliance with the "revulsion" actually awakened a power that is a total antithesis of everything in the world that is good and worthy..To succumb to this force of the night is when the only peace and grace lies in personal death. As a girl called Pennie discovered. And shrilled the deathly kla on.
The evil of night comes calling for Saiya, to subdue a God and bring annihilation of everything. This force is called the Evernight! And characters you got to know and admire, starts falling in the onslaught.
And for the first time I am hesitant to wish you joy in the reading, however compelling the story. Perhaps to endure is the better call.

Mr. Edstrom is a name that one can associate with fantasy in its best form. He has created a world with all kinds of creatures inhabiting it and he takes us on a long and page turning journey all over it. With each book Kila Sigh grows and becomes more powerful. The cats also have become from negligible cuddly felines to powerful entities that can help confront Annihilation itself. Kila now has the most difficult task of all. She has to work with former enemies and make them understand that unless they unite they will lose everything. She is not prepared for the burden that has been placed upon her shoulders but she refuses to give up. Fallo has to face what he is and decide how to proceed. Henley too has to undertake a horrible task. Yples has become more than a formidable enemy.
The descriptions in the story help us walk through Moonside and other dangerous places, partake in battles and watch god children come to life. Huff and his actions bring tears to the eyes. All in all, a gripping continuation of the plot which takes the reader along both breathtaking and and moving roads as the story unfolds. Make sure you don't miss it.

Mr. Edstrom has an amazing imagination. It’s a wonder where he gets it from. He uses lots of barely pronounceable names and characters, however we see clearly described scenes and actions. This series just keeps getting more and more epic as we now see a complex web of side stories. Each viewpoint shows the various characters with their own quest and how they go about it. We see their motivations and how they can be a great threat or help to the stability of the land if they succeed. We also see Kila Sigh who having been born into poverty in Cheapsgate has now been crowned Her Enlightened Majesty of Til. So many things are happening in this book you can’t put it down as you will get lost in all the action. More toward the end of this book we read of a very sad twist in this plot. But we are not left to grieve as the last of the book ends in something to be hoped for. Yes, apparently there is a book nine, at least I hope there is. We still are left with a lot of unanswered questions and a war to win. Keep them coming Mr. Edstrom!

The pace is astonishing! I couldn't put it down until I finished...lots of coffee. Edstrom's creativity is nothing less than startling and fantastic. I was swept on a current of suspense that would not stop. I always wondered about Moonside and this book just exploded with so many twists.
Start at the beginning of the series and you will be rewarded with each book you read.
