    It’s a fun novella filled with adventure and faith. It was fascinating to see how this group managed to survive on a deserted island and how each person’s skill set contributed to their survival. Danger lurking around every corner was quite real, as was the genuine friendship and camaraderie that formed among the seven characters. The romance between Zach and Abby was sweet and tender. The characters’ struggle for survival and triumphs will become yours as this novella transports you to an uncharted land of beauty and adventure.

    Loved being back with this author again. Zach and Abby story was exciting from start to finish. They had quite a few people that depended on them. But they were all a great help to one another. All the kids were sweet. The older couple was q big help too. Zach and Abby love grew as they were stranded together. I will enjoy more books by now his author.

    Castaway with the Cowboy is a Calico Trails reprinted novella by Pam Hillman. When their steamship sinks, Zach Holifield, Abby Lindstrom, and a small ragtag crew land on a small island in the Caribbean. Will they survive long enough to be rescued or will they need to make this place their new home?

    Even though Castaway with the Cowboy is a reprint, it was my first reading of it. That meant I got to enjoy all the twists and turns with fresh eyes and I enjoyed every one of them! From the way Zach, a cowboy, escapes the sinking steamship. To Abby’s determination to protect the two children in her charge. To the dangers upon dangers they face on the island.

    Mixing cowboys and deserted islands creates a unique tone that permeates the story. Add in a fun secondary cast and the cool ending twist, which I am definitely not going to spoil (I also suggest waiting to read the historical note until the end, too), and it was an all around delightful story.

    This January, if you’re looking for a fun-in-the-sun escape, grab a copy of Castaway with a Cowboy and enjoy the Caribbean from a different point of view.

    After an explosion sinks their ship, a band of unlikely survivors find themselves stranded on a Caribbean island.

    Abby Lindstrom is a nanny in charge of two young children, bringing them to reunite with their father. Along with them are a cabin boy, missionaries, Paulette and Milton, and cowboy Zach Holifield. Zach is a natural leader, he takes charge right away, making a plan to survive on the island that they have found themselves on. I liked how they all worked together to survive and to devise ways to escape.

    This has a full cast of characters, and I loved the strong themes of faith. If I ever get shipwrecked, I want a couple like Paulette and Milton to be right there with me!

    Filled with action, faith, and great characters. This was an engaging read that I devoured, I loved how everyone pulled together to survive the island and the dangers that they faced. Highly recommend!

    This book is a very short read, but not short on action, from the first to the last pages you won’t see coming.
    When hired to take care of motherless children, Nanny Abigail Lindstrrom could never fantom the adventure she was about to take. Also when Zack Holifield is tasked with bringing a prize horse to Costa Rica, he ends up with a task of survival for all. Is he up to taking care of more than horses?
    The author gives us a lot of action in this short read, ship wrecks, wild animals, and being with Missionaries, could it be they are right where God wants them?
    In the end, I really wanted to continue on with their lives!

    Shipwrecked with a cowboy, three kids and a couple of missionaries on an uninhabited island with mosquitos the size of goats was not Abby’s idea of a romantic setting. Had anyone else survived the shipwreck? Would they ever be rescued? Could there really be any hope?

    What a great, very fast passed novella. Can’t wait for the next one!
