I loved this take on Peter Pan and Neverland. Wendy is an orphan being raised at the Darling Academy where her and the other girls learn to sword fight, archery, hand to hand combat along with other survival skills. Wendy wants nothing more than to leave the academy and Headmistress Darling, so when a fairy named Belle shows up and says she needs Wendy's help to save Neverland Wendy is ready. Along with her friends Elizabeth and Alexandria, Wendy and Belle must find Peter and the missing fairies and save them from the evil Queen. With the help of a pirates and mermaids, an epic war breaks out to save Neverland.

The Lost Girls (Wendy, Alexandria, Elizabeth, Belle and Mary) were such a fun group of girls to get to know throughout the book. There was so much adventure and action I couldn't put the book down. I wish there was some idea of when book 2 will be out and if this is a duology, trilogy or series.

I found myself really enjoying this book. The way the original peter pan story was integrated into this version was satisfying and different from the style I've seen other authors integrate classics into their story. I also have never seen a story following the peter pan classic. The characters are all fun, and unique. Each one stands out in his or her own way and is fully developed with a clear identity. The build-up for the ending also has me excited. I really want to know what happens next.

We bought this book to read to our daughter at bedtime... but I'm thoroughly enjoying it myself as a woman in her late thirties! I was drawn in immediately, find the book difficult to put down, and deeply enjoy the escape into another world.
