- I've made over 20 recipes. Most have been very good and I'd want them again (esp the pinto quesadillas, tempeh satay skewers, tempeh chimichurri skewers, farro salad, granola, burgers, cilantro hummus and strawberry chia pudding with vanilla instead of rose). 2 weren't my fav, but were edible (amaranth smoothie bowl, chickpea omelette). I wouldn't serve the golden waffles to guests, but we liked them.
- great summary of their first book in the beginning half (evidence-based recommendations to improve your cognitive health) followed by suggestions for a 30 day plan to get the reader started working towards what they consider optimal brain health
- balanced approach that allows small amounts of EVOO and avocado
- even if you don't care about brain health, the recipes are beautiful and vibrant
- for the most part, easy to obtain ingredients (the only one I can't get at a regular grocery store is amaranth, but you could substitute quinoa)
- beautiful pics (NB: not all recipes have a pic, but many do)
- most recipes pretty quick if you have the ingredients already
- recipes are hearty and pretty filling but don't weigh you down
Cons
- i don't like the use of artificial sweeteners (they endorse monk fruit and erythritol in small-ish) amounts. For these recipes i sub a little date sugar or maple (though the authors disprove of the later)
- most recipes are written for 3 servings, which is annoying in a household of 2

- Reviewed in the United States on May 20, 2021This beautiful book is an invaluable resource of education, support, how-to, and power. 30DAS supports your ability to have power over your health, and thus power over your destiny. That may seem like a leap to some, but trust me that the small choices we make on a regular basis, add up to big change. I love how the Sherzai's offer practical habit adjustments that you can build on over time, in order to get closer and closer to optimal health, and that they emphasize the importance of true lifestyle change.
Their humility, wisdom, and nature of their personalities with their science & data-based messaging make them very easy on the ears. There is zero shame, heaps of positivity, and a joy for eating yummy food that keeps the journey relatable and the goals attainable. I highly recommend that you not only buy the book, but that you seek them out on podcasts, YouTube, and social media so that you can fully experience the beauty of who they are and what they do.
But the food though!!!
Although I was drawn in for the mental health aspect, "The 30 Day Alzheimer's Solution" quickly became my all time favorite cookbook. As you can hopefully gather from the photos, I am having a blast cooking from it and find the recipes to be absolutely divine! My favorites include:
- Taco Quinoa - to fill in anywhere you put taco meat or crumbled sausage. We've put in on nachos, in burritos, in tacos, on pizza, on salads. We make it weekly!
- Chipotle Cashew Queso - it's creamy, sexy and utterly divine! We put in on nachos, tacos, burritos, quesadillas, on burgers, baked potatoes, use for dipping...bathe in it! lol! We make it weekly!
- The weekend breakfasty options: waffles, pancakes, scones, tofu scrambles, chickpea omelets - all a treat for when you have a bit of extra time to make a really satisfying breakfast, but also great for any meal of the day!
- The Totally Possible Burger is totally the best burger I have ever had!! We made it exactly per the recipe, with the Cashew Queso on top, and on a Dave's Killer Whole Wheat bun, loaded with toppings. It took a bit of time to make, but the effort is so worth it!!!
- Bbq Jackfruit tacos an be eaten in a lettuce wrap, or in a tortilla, or on a bun like a sloppy joe...no matter how you throw it together - it's the bomb!!
We've already enjoyed 80% of the recipes from the book and only one or two were not our jam. We have fallen in love with almost every recipe we've tried and they are being played on regular rotation in our home.
This is a book for everyone, not just those with worries about Alzheimer's. The well-rounded NEURO lifestyle approach is good for anyone, at any phase of life, and is a foundational concept that we can all benefit from. If you've made it this far into my review, I wish you excellent health, happiness and peace. xo

- Reviewed in the United States on March 23, 2021The Alzheimer's Solution and NEURO Plan have made a huge difference in my quality of life. I was thrilled to get their new book, the 30 Day Alzheimer's Solution. The new book is better than the first one! Daily menus with every recipe included. Daily goals for exercise, stress reduction, sleep tips, and ways to optimize our brains. It's all on a schedule that's easy to follow or you can customize it. How can you go wrong?! Like most people interested in this book, I am concerned about my brain health due to specific issues. Plus my mother has Alzheimer's and I'm her caregiver. It's heartbreaking to watch. I don't want to do this to my family or myself. I've followed NEURO for a while and this new book will help me get it all in gear and make more changes and improve my future. I truly believe it! I've already seen a lot of improvement with NEURO. I have more focus, more energy, less brain fog, and fewer memory issues.
Every step of the program is detailed in easy-to-understand language. We learn exactly what is going on in the brain with each step of the program and how the changes will benefit long term brain health. The book contains step by step directions, tips, and encouragement for each leg of the program. You'll find menus, recipes, And the recipes - Oh WOW! I can't recommend this book enough!
The first book covered the basics of NEURO which includes Nutrition, Exercise, Unwind, Restore, and Optimize. The new book covers everything above and also introduces the NEURO 9 which are some of the most important food categories for brain health. This includes beans, greens, green tea, nuts and seeds, and more. I was worried about the tea suggestion but recently found decaf green tea so I can follow this advice, too. It's helpful to have a goal when planning our meals so now I have exact guidelines to follow. The book also offers new ways to achieve the other four components of the NEURO program.
I was so excited about this book that I woke up in the wee hours to check my Kindle for my new order! And that's silly because it goes against the guidelines of the NEURO plan. A good night's sleep is crucial to brain health. But I have to say that this book is phenomenal and I learned even more than I did with their first book, The Alzheimer's Solution. The NEURO plan has helped me to feel much better! I eat better, sleep better, work to optimize my brain, and so much more. This new book will help me continue on my path for better brain health. And this version truly has much more to offer. It's so much more than a cookbook. It's a lifestyle book.
The first book covered the basics of NEURO which includes Nutrition, Exercise, Unwind, Restore, and Optimize. It's helpful to have a goal when planning our meals so now I have exact guidelines to follow. The book also offers new ways to achieve the other four components of the NEURO program.
As mentioned above, I have been following this program for quite some time. I have noticed many concerning symptoms of my own over the last few years that remind me of Mom's early days of cognitive decline. This TERRIFIES me! It's worth it to make the changes necessary to reverse mild cognitive decline. I've also had brain fog most of my adult life. I can honestly say that after six months of following NEURO, I do feel more alert and more focused. And the brain fog is lifted! I know that I have further to go and this is a lifelong journey. I'm in my late 50s and I want to provide a better future for myself than what I've watched my mother experience. My heart aches for her every day. My future can be different.
Change is worth it. The NEURO plan works. GET THIS BOOK!

5.0 out of 5 stars Lots of delicious recipes!
I have been plant based for nearly 4 years now, and a big reason for my conversion from carnivore to plant based was the death of my grandmother from Alzheimer’s. I saw some data that a plant based diet can reduce your chances of it developing (along with a whole host of other preventative diseases!) so I switched.
This book has a very informative section at the beginning about the benefits and guidance. But best of all is some amazing looking recipes that look colourful and sound very flavourful! I am cooking my first meal from it today (farro tempeh bowl).
I highly recommend this book for so many recipes.
Would be useful to read along side ‘how not to die’ as well for more information.

Thank you Ayesha and Dean for all that you have done for us so far and keep on doing what you are doing! I am grateful to you for all the recipes and all the information you are sharing with us!

5.0 out of 5 stars Really well organized, science-based information, gorgeous photography and amazing- looking recipes!
The 30-Day Alzheimer's Solution is a beautiful, very well-organized book that is a delight to read and peruse. The book is broken down into two sections with the first section being made up of 3 parts: Part 1 - A Proven Plan For Alzheimer's Prevention; Part 2 - What To Eat, What Not To Eat, And Why; and Part 3 - The Neuro Plan: 30 Days Of Brain-Boosting. Their "NUERO" plan covers the full spectrum of life-style approaches for improving brain function and preventing cognitive decline. "NUERO" stands for Nutrition, Exercise, Unwind, Restore and Optimize, and each component is fleshed out and incorporated into their 30-day brain-boosting plan. The second half of the book is dedicated to amazing-looking, super health-promoting plant-based recipes and is filled with gorgeous photography! A sample of these very yummy-looking recipes are: Chickpea Omelet; Cheesy Tempeh and Sweet Potato Casserole; Spicy Squash and Portobello Tacos; Sweet Potato Oat Pancakes; Berry Nice Cream Cake (the gorgeous dessert featured on the book cover - the recipe looks amazing!!! ) and so many more! I am so glad I went ahead and purchased the hardcover version instead of waiting for it to possibly come out in paperback, if ever, as this beautiful book is on its way to becoming very well used and very well loved!

5.0 out of 5 stars Straight Forward Exciting Way to Eat/Think
Recipes are great especially if you coordinate it with the FB Programme (running in April 21) where the live cooking demos show the process and the nuances of how to put things together.
This is not a 30-day diet. It’s a 30-day plan that lays out the foundations for sustainable habits. Some of those habits look at learning how to use spices so that your salt intake is reduced, incorporating exercise into everyday routines and effectively managing stress and sleep. It’s all in an effort to realign so that optimal brain and as a bi-product, vascular health, are working at maximum potential.
