The Da Vinci Code meets Get Shorty in this thrilling debut. "A very clever and intricately woven story of greed and the lust for power." —Promoting Crime Fiction

An LA screenwriter is killed shortly after completing his latest script,
Fall Out, a thriller destined to be a blockbuster. But is there more to the script than meets the eye?

Echoing past events, the screenplay is sent to a very specific group of people whose lives will be changed forever. All recipients are connected to a movie that had abruptly stopped shooting years before.

Follow Producer Marcus Riley, who teams up with designer Melinda (Mako) de Turris and sets out on an increasingly dangerous quest to get
Fall Out made, while they and the other recipients of the screenplay are pursued by an assassin from the past.

With clues cleverly concealed in the screenplay, Marcus and Mako unravel a lethal puzzle that for some will bring death, others the truth and ends in a mysterious cave with a shocking revelation . . .

"Riverting. Page-turning. A jaw-dropping rollercoaster of action and surprise. And best of all, it's based upon shocking true history. A real gem." —Damian Lewis, International No. 1 Bestselling Author & Multi-Award-Winning Reporter

"A gripping thriller twisted around an incredible piece of recent history... and an equally fun glimpse into how our industry works! A well-researched ride." —
Robert Halmi Jr., Emmy and Multi Award Winning Producer

"And, action! Plenty of it and super nasty bad guys and stories so outrageously crazy they can only be true...
Fall Out is inventive and, at times intentionally filmic. The fun doesn't stop for 440 pages." —Booksplainer

"Amazing... I agree with all the other reviews that have stated if you like Dan Brown or James Patterson, then this book is for you." —Joyful Antidotes

Mark Grenside is the internationally celebrated author of Fall Out. Before that, he worked as a television and film producer with some of the biggest names in Hollywood.

Mark was born and raised in London, UK, starting his career in Kidnap, Ransom and Extortion Insurance. But, after a chance meeting with Peter Orton and Jim Henson, he dumped the suit and tie and entered the sensational, inspirational, celebrational world of The Muppets.

That switch to entertainment was just the beginning of an eclectic media and entrepreneurial career for Mark. Aside from joining Jim Henson’s team behind The Muppets, he has created and produced several television series, arranged the $250 million buyout of the Hallmark Channel International, and co-founded Dragonfly Biosciences and two digital companies.

Using his insider knowledge of the film industry combined with meticulous research, Mark took another career sidestep to become a thriller author, writing his critically acclaimed debut Fall Out based on the true scandal of a multi-billion-dollar theft and murder. Mark then completed the gripping sequel to Fall Out, titled The Bastion, in 2023.

Mark also shares his witty observations on the devious, the obvious and the ridiculous in his blog https://www.andanotherthing.com/ which has subscribers in more than 40 countries.

Today, when he’s not writing from his home in Malta where he lives with his wife and two French bulldogs, Mark can be found cooking, collecting classic cars and parachuting, scuba-diving, hang-gliding or generally chasing adrenalin (and his fearless wife) around the world!

I thoroughly enjoyed reading Mark Grenside's FALL OUT. It has everything a good thriller should have: compelling characters, exotic locales, nonstop tension, and enough plot twists to give you whiplash. Mark's insider knowledge of the film industry adds to the richness of the story in many ways, and gives the narrative the kind of authoritative detail I always appreciate in a story. There are good guys and bad guys -- and they're all round characters, not bland stereotypes. And the surprise ending makes the journey totally rewarding. I think everyone will enjoy reading FALL OUT and I hope to see more from Mark Grenside soon.

ADVENTURE! INTRIGUE! HISTORY! INTERNATIONAL SCENARIO! Grenside has it all in "Fall Out"! Cached in the making of a failed movie, he weaves a network of situations that keeps the reader anxiously waiting for the outcome of the next chapter. Telling his story from the jungles of the Philippines to the motion picture industry in California, he wraps his tale in a movie script called "Fallout". The script is distributed, with different versions as clues, to several members of the company who participated in the failed movie. Who did what to whom and why keeps the reader guessing and totally immersed in the story. The author has extensive knowledge of international travel as well as experience in the movie industry. The book is an "easy" read and a joy to those who like a suspenseful yarn. If you want some good reading, "Fall Out" hits the mark!

As a librarian, I consider myself quite well-read. I was shocked to realize that this was Grenside's debut novel. The intricacy of the plot, which weaved in historical events with fictional ones, had me hooked from the beginning. It is a talented storyteller indeed that can create such a tale of intrigue and action, while taking you all over the world. I kept thinking that this novel would play out brilliantly on the big screen. Until then, I will anxiously await the sequel...please tell me there is a sequel! I highly recommend this sophisticated tale...gripping until the end!

Corruption, greed, deceit, lies, dreams, and death describe this novel to a T. This cast of characters has a secret they are hiding, or at least some of them are hiding one. The others are determined to uncover the mystery of why so many have died over the years.  It also gives us a look into the film industry, what goes into making a movie, and how those attributes could make or break a film and those involved.

The story jumps around a lot - from the past (1945 or so) to the 1970s to the present. It took me a while to get used to the jumping around and to understand the significance of the scenes from the 1940s since you truly don't understand it until about 3/4 of the way through the book.

This is a fast-paced book with many plot lines and characters to keep up with. The book also shares some pages of a screenplay, but the significance will take some detective work to uncover the truth. I was surprised at some of the twists and turns the book took with the different characters, including those that were running for their lives. It is amazing how much deception there was from the various characters, and it seemed like anyone could be bought or paid off.

I did think that the book was about 75-100 pages too long. Others would probably disagree, but at times there was text that didn't seem to add much to the storyline. I did enjoy the action and the fast-paced novel, and we give this book 3 1/2 paws.

If you like mysteries and thrillers you’ll love Fall Out! Mark Genside has written a fast-paced page turner with interesting characters and exciting locations. The fact that the mystery is loosely based on a true story makes it that much more captivating. From beginning to end I couldn’t put it down, a true distraction during these covid times. I highly recommend and can’t wait for the next book.

For a first book, this is amazing - what a writer! Mark Grenside weaves together a very clever plot, with interesting characters, spanning exotic locations, and based on history. I could not put it down. I think this would make an amazing television series and I can't wait to read his next novel, The Bastion. Congratulations Mark on a masterpiece!

This book has all the right ingredients - a complex, tense but clear plot line, ultra glamorous international settings, believable characters, a fascinating insight into the movie business, a treasure hunt, car chase, plenty of sex, violence and death - all cooked up and blended to provide a great literary meal. This is a more sophisticated and better written book than is typical of the genre, gripping right to the end.

sorry I had to copy and paste this review, it is spot on

I love this book!

Finished it in just a couple of days because I didn't want to put it down, and couldn't stop thinking about it when I did. Fall Out has it all: a fascinating and devious plot, tons of fast-paced action, international jet setting, surprise around every corner, compassionate relatable characters, very shady baddies, tight prose that pops off the page and a final twist in the book's last chapters that I NEVER saw coming.

Would make a great film without artistic licence!
