Even A Bad Penny Can Shine Kindle Edition
Eyes opened wide at an early age by life-changing experiences, Greg Alonge gives a detailed account of his life growing up in New York, living his adult years in Massachusetts, and how he navigated and survived traumatic events. Though suffering through difficult times, Greg always knew his passion was helping children and their families in the cities. Helping others was always the focus. Over decades, Greg was able to use his sympathetic understanding of traumatic survivorship to help kids and their families work on their problematic past while helping them learn to grow as a person individually through the experience. Through short writings about his life’s work, Greg outlines how these cases helped him learn how to be a stronger version of himself through stressful and scary times. Finally, Greg outlines the importance of learning constructive ways to channel traumatic anger, through his own history, by surviving these life-changing moments by evolving and growing as a soul from these situations.
Even A Bad Penny Can Shine takes you on a journey of how people can use their troubled past to help usher others through their own current traumatic journeys by constructively learning to cope. We can all grow through trauma.

- Reviewed in the United States on August 30, 2021Greg and I were good friends as young kids, but grew apart as adolescents. Reconnected on facebook, I've admired how Greg manages to simultaneously be an amazingly caring social worker for troubled youth, an alpha male metal lead singer, a devoted family man and involved parent, and a vocal political liberal who's taking on all comers on social media. Way to be, Greg!
Greg's book shines a light on his path, and, true to form, he puts it all out there. Childhood traumas, barely surviving his teen years into young adulthood, and the trials of life. I feel like I know more about Greg than some of my closest friends. It's an honor to get to know you in this way, sir.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 17, 2021This book is insightful in its unique manner of conveying and then interpreting real life experiences. Greg offers a great deal of helpful ways to process the hard times that manifest in ones life time. Through his own coming of age stories up to his present day status as father husband and Therapeutic Training and support specialist Greg recounts how he overcame and processed life events both good and bad. I think it's especially great for his sons to read as they can get a powerful life guidebook of sorts from their own father! I really got a lot out of this book and appreciate the wisdom Greg offers on many challenges and adversities he overcame.

- Reviewed in the United States on November 22, 2021Written in a conversational style, this story takes us from a childhood in New York laced with traumatic events to a man who finds purpose, balance, and a voice fronting a band. The author is a father writing for his sons, but the tale is easily relatable for anyone trying to find their place in the world, especially those who are investing in helping others, and love hard music. It's a short book and reads like you're sitting down with a friend. If you like autobiographies about regular people in hard core, punk, and metal, this is a good one.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 1, 2022Greg doesn't hold back in this soulful account of his life, from the early days of his youth to the angry teenage years to college and beyond. He pours his heart into this relentless journey to find peace, love, and happiness while always striving to make the world around him a better place. A riveting read, don't let it pass you by.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 11, 2021With a sense of urgency running from cover to cover, this book imparts the very essence of Greg’s being. I love the way chapters are organized, each with it’s own meaning, crux, and style. Taken as a whole, the combination of these chapters offers deep insight into a warm and multifaceted life.

- Reviewed in the United States on March 20, 2024Are you looking for fancy writing full of words someone searched for on thesaurus.com and was then worked over by an editor?
Well this ain't it, pal.
This is FROM THE HEART writing from someone that clearly has a passion for life born out of a chaotic youth. A real person wrote this, and you will get an unfiltered look into the path that turned him into the person he is today, flaws and all.
An inspirational tale told from the viewpoint of the streets.
