"You are not prepared for the twists...Pamela Crane has in store for you." - POPSUGAR
"Crane succeeds at painting families and friendships in vivid detail; women will see their tussles and triumphs in these pages, and will relish the twists and moments of brave camaraderie and bold revenge... A satisfying read that has echoes of Liane Moriarty and of Emily Giffin's All We Ever Wanted." - Booklist
"Pamela Crane's anthem to female friendship and the empowerment of women proves one thing. Friends will do anything for each other...including lie, cheat in bed, and kill. Crane's deft treatment of this theme makes the besties in Little Deadly Secrets friends you'd want as your own...despite the fizzy cocktail of secrecy, betrayal, and deception they pour on every page. This novel is a read for our tumultuous times." - Jenny Milchman, Mary Higgins Clark award-winning author of Cover of Snow and The Second Mother
"One of the most chilling opening scenes I've ever read, and the tension keeps right on building. My advice: don't read this book...unless you're prepared not to put it down until you're finished!" - New York Times Bestselling Author Wendy Corsi Staub
"I loved it! It's so well written, with sharply observed characters and the kind of fast-paced, twisty plot that keeps you turning the pages..." - Sunday Times and international bestselling author Debbie Howells
"There is always great depth to Pamela's writing and this is no exception. Amidst a cleverly constructed psychological thriller that pulls you along from one page to the next, we are treated to the deconstruction of a friendship between Robin, Mackenzie and Lily. It's sad, infuriating but fascinating too. Once Pamela has pulled it all together, and the pieces fit into place you are left with a brilliantly told tale, a mystery is solved, and justice is served but what of the friendship...? You'll have to read it to find out but I promise, you won't be disappointed." - bestselling author Patricia Dixon
"This was an incredibly fast-paced, heart racing, and twisty thriller with a great ending. The changing narratives truly keeps you on the edge of your seat, which leaves you guessing as to what the end result was going to be. Readers will find it a compelling read from start to finish." - The Nerd Daily
"A deeply profound and memorable story. It is well-written and intricately plotted. Highly recommended." - Fresh Fiction
"Wow, wow, WOW!! It's 3:15am and I have just finished this amazing book after not being able to put it down!" - NetGalley Review
"I was blown away. If you loved Big Little Lies, you'll love this!" - NetGalley Review
"The opening of this book goes from 0 to 100, instantly drawing you in: a serene and peaceful setting to 'woahhh I have GOT to see what happens here'" - NetGalley Review
From the Inside Flap
Library Journal NCIAP Book of the Year
April 1910. Women's rights activist Alvera Fields mysteriously vanishes from her home one night, leaving her newborn baby and husband behind, the case never solved.
April 2021. On the anniversary of her great-great-grandmother's disappearance, Alvera's namesake Vera Portman vanishes in an eerily similar manner.
Six months later, the police recover a girl's body. While the family waits in the horror of finding out if it's Vera, Felicity Portman clings to hope that her missing teenage daughter is still alive. Despite all odds, Felicity senses a link between the decades-apart cases--a mother feels such things in her bones. But all suspicion points to the last person who saw Vera alive: Felicity's sister-in-law, Marin.
Marin, with her troubled past.
Marin, the poor woman who married into the rich family.
Marin, the only one who knows Felicity's darkest secret.
As Felicity makes a shocking discovery in Vera's journal, she questions who her daughter really is. The deeper she digs, the more she's ensnared in the same mysteries that claimed their ancestor in a terribly slow ruin.
From the USA TODAY bestselling author of Little Deadly Secrets comes a page-turning psychological thriller that weaves an ancient family mystery with tense drama. A book club pick perfect for fans of Celeste Ng's Little Fires Everywhere, Laura Dave's The Last Thing He Told Me, Lisa Jewell, and Ruth Ware.
"An emotionally charged mystery of how a mother must lose her daughter to find herself. Chilling from the first page. Gripping until the last." - reader review

About the author

To know PAMELA CRANE, you first need to know her husband. He sleeps with one eye open. He checks the knife block to make sure none are missing. Why? It could be because they have four kids and a farm full of mischievous animals. Or it could be because she writes thrillers and mysteries, and about the occasional woman who has lost her marbles (not based on her own psyche, she swears!). Don't worry—her husband is safe...for now. Her books range from witty whodunnits to psychological suspense and even humorous women’s fiction thrown in for good measure. She’s a USA TODAY bestselling author of over a dozen novels (who’s counting?), but her biggest accomplishment is keeping her zoo of animals alive…and her husband in check.

- Reviewed in the United States on April 12, 2022I’m a huge fan of Pamela Cranes writing. I try to read all her books. A Slow Ruin which released on November 30, 2021, is a literary thriller that is told in a dual timeline. It begins in 1910 when Alvera Fields, a wife and mother to a newborn infant disappears without a trace. Alvera who married into a wealthy family disappeared during the women’s suffrage movement which she was a strong supporter in. She was never found! Fast forward to 2021 and on the exact same day, Vera Portman, Alveras great-great-granddaughter goes missing! This is a story that has so many twists that you will never see coming. It’s about a family that’s keeping secrets, so many secrets that they have to lie to keep them from being exposed. Not only does this storyline keep you wanting to read every chance you get, but the author amps up the creepiness by having the family live in a mansion called the Execution Estate because a previous family was murdered there in the library. Doesn’t that make it all the more enticing to read! The chapters bounce back and forth between Felicity Portman, who is Veras mom, and Marin Portman, Felicity’s sister-in-law. What part does Marin play in the whole scheme of it all? You’ll just have to read it to find out! This is an amazing story and one I could not predict the ending to. Great job Pamela Crane! This was a very entertaining and enjoyable read and if you like suspenseful thrillers then I recommend you check this out. I loved it and am giving it a 5 star rating!

The storyline and characters are wonderfully crafted and I couldn't get enough. This was my 6th Pamela Crane read in less than a month and she has quickly become one of my favorite authors!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 6, 2021When I started reading this book, I was filled with great anticipation for a great story. However, the more I read, the more my anticipation began to wane. There is an extreme amount of detail, that seems to make the story drag. I found it to be extremely slow at times..
- Reviewed in the United States on January 6, 2023This book is a masterpiece. Absolutely incredible! Wow I couldn't put this book down, just like all of Pamela Cranes books. She does such a great job keeping you in suspense the whole time and on the edge of your seat. I loved the historical context and the family history included in this story, and all of the unexpected family secrets that unfolded. A must read!!

- Reviewed in the United States on December 6, 2021Dang. This was a wild ride of a book! There is a lot going on and takes a story of secrets that link the past and present together. It’s definitely a page-turner and a book I was surprised by. If you’re looking for a suspenseful drama thriller, I’d recommend this book.
