Blood-Soaked & Invaded Kindle Edition

4.6 out of 5 stars 64 ratings

With the zombie apocalypse taking its toll on his mind, one man faces a greater threat from above in this sequel to Blood Soaked and Contagious.

Zombies were bad enough, but now we’re being invaded from all sides. Up to our necks in blood, body parts, and unanswerable questions . . .

. . . As soon as the realization hit me, I lost my cool. I curled into the fetal position in a pile of blood, offal, and body parts, and froze there. What in the Hell was I becoming that killing was entertaining and satisfying?

I don’t know how long I was on my side in the remains of my opponents, but the mess was coagulating and getting cold . . . to say nothing of the smell of sliced-open bowels. There were periodic noises suggesting violence around and about where I was glued to the ground by noxious goop, but I couldn’t even raise my face to take a look around. My brain spun around and around, propelled by unanswered questions and abject horror.

The person I thought I was—a guy who does what he has to do when the chips are down—had been replaced by someone I didn’t know and it made me terribly afraid . . .

Praise for Blood Soaked and Contagious

“I give it an “EW!” factor of +10!” —Diana Gabaldon, #1 New York Times–bestselling author of the Outlander Series

Just a word about the Alexa Hernandez books... As you may have noticed, I'm not Hispanic, and you might wonder what the deal is.

My wife is Latinx, and my suegro is originally from Durango, Mexico. When I met her, I fell in love with the culture of Santa Ana, California, and my new family. By extension, I also fell in love with Durango (Gomez Palacios in particular).

I wanted to write a new hero that reflects what I have learned and celebrates it. I'll also admit that Alexa is somewhat based on my wife.

Back to my bio...

Life is what happens when you're making other plans. Writing is like that.

My first novel, Blood Soaked and Contagious happened by accident. I'd been mulling over a conversation with other knifemakers about the proper weapon for the zombie apocalypse when I designed something rather unique. When I investigated sourcing the proper material to make the thing come to life, the dollar signs made me wince.

I said to myself, "Well! I'll just write about it, then!"

My first novel, and subsequent two, followed.

My fourth book,"Manleigh Cheese," is a diversion from zombie horror into politics, food trucks, spirituality, and bad deals. Some people say it predicted a bit of modern politics, but I vehemently deny that I can see the future. I simply like good food and artisan cheese.

(Unfortunately, the publisher of "Manleigh Cheese" closed. I do not have plans to re-release it.)

Over the course of the past few years, I've been published in a few charity anthologies, and am embarking on an entirely new series.

Keep watching, reading, and reviewing.

The author takes the reader on one heck of a ride with this storyline! Definitely a different take on any other zombie books I've ever read & I found myself engrossed from beginning to end! You feel the love, friendship, loyalty & the will to survive in all the characters in this book. I found myself laughing, crying & rooting for Frank, Charlie & their friends & am looking forward to the next book because it is quite obvious that this story is not done. Well done James Crawford! What an adventure!

The second of a great series! This book goes full speed ahead and blends so many different genres with aplomb. Well written, very witty, excellent story telling. Not as gruesome as the first, a bit more depth and you cannot forget to add the aliens! The undead, nanotechnology, coffee, aliens, a fun romance, and a man scythe all adds up to a book (and series) worth reading.

Loved the storyline. Several reviews were concerned with the gruesome gore. Hey you're dealing with intelligent, strong and fast moving zombies here not the normal shambling dumb zombies. Mix in nano tech and some raunchy scenes and you have a fun often humorous read.

Ok, I will freely admit, I do get very squeamish about blood guts and gore. That being said, I finished this installment off in half a day.... I just could not put it down until the last word. NOW what am I to do !?!?!?? The third book isn't out yet, and I am in dire need to know what Frank and Co. are going to do next !!!
Mr. Crawford, you have outdone yourself. I am officially a nanofan. If this series isn't optioned into a trilogy of movies in the next year, I will be highly upset with Hollywood as a whole (do you hear that, Mr. Bey, and/or Mr. Shamalan????)
If you haven't already, add this AND book one to your cart, and enjoy the ride. You won't be disappointed.

Reading this book is just like sitting in the head of Frank, the Butt-Kicking Man-Scythe swinging Zombie Killer, who is such a nice guy!

He loves his Avenging Goddess Woman and his chosen group of friends and suffers great angst over having to kill so many - but those pesky Zombies just won't go away and leave his little tribe alone!

Apparently it's annoying to be almost always covered in blood and gore, having his nanotechs constantly healing injuries and rebuilding his body and throwing up at the gruesome events in his life! He's also running out of clothes...But the world still isn't saved!

Between Zombies and Aliens from Outer Space everything is an awful mess!

Oh, be sure you have lots of coffee on hand because Frank's love of it is contagious!

Thanks, James, for another great time...and get back to work on the next book!

This book picks up immediately from book one. Do yourself a favor and make sure you read number one first.

I got a little frustrated at the very beginning of this volume. I really wanted Frank to heal a bit faster so we could get to the action. That being said once the action started it didn't stop. If the third volume were out I would have already picked it up to see where things go. I can't wait to find out what happens to the "part" stolen from Charlie!

It could use a little more grammatical editing, but all in all a great read!

This book was kind of a let down compared to the first book. The major plot twist took me off guard. I was reading a zombie book and then an alien book. Don't care for where the author took these great characters. I kept reading out of curiosity and loyalty but not because I was enthralled. Please stick with one genre in your series or make it less confusing

These books are like... all the love, humor, compassion, and joy you get in a Spider Robinson novel full of beloved characters meets gory, gory, deviant, funny Zombie killing glee. Couldn't put them down, read books 1 & 2 in two days flat or so. Great plots, fast moving, can't wait to see what happens next.
