Sean Schubert was born in Indianapolis, In in 1970. He earned a degree in English from Wabash College in 1993 and promptly moved to Anchorage, AK where he has lived ever since. Sean loves to read and write books that grab his attention from the outset. He also loves stories that center around interesting and sometimes quirky characters. His favorite authors include Tom Robbins, Christopher Moore, Kurt Vonnegut Jr., and Toni Morrison. His first book, Infection, tells the tale of an ancient plague resurrected and unleashed on the hapless residents of Anchorage, AK. There are two sequels to follow that tell the unfolding story of the survivors who strive to outrun the zombie infestation that has claimed the hundreds of thousands of souls who used to live in Anchorage and now prowl the city streets in search of fresh flesh to devour. For Sean, zombies investing a city is just another form of a "natural" calamity that could strike anywhere. Infection delves into the lives and the decisions of the survivors as they try and stay one step ahead of the fate that has struck down the vast majority of the city's population.

The detail and characters drew me in and I couldn't quit reading. I especially liked a "contained" locale allowing me to get to know the characters without the distraction of a worldwide setting. Characters were interesting and well-developed - but, I didn't like when some of my favorites were killed.

The first few chapters of the book were fast paced, sharp, well written, and acted as a virtual hammer nailing the inside of your head with the horrific images of the apocalypse. Although that pace didn't keep up throughout the book, I'm glad because I wouldn't have been able to stop reading long enough to go to work!! Plus, even as much as I like zombies, even my favorite TV show gives you some downtime from that frantic pace ( though sometimes the book did go a little far afield into romantic relationships - just saying there isn't always going to be someone for everyone at the end). Overall a great read from a skillful author. Will definitely get the next book in the saga.

Decided to try this book series - and found it fascinating and hard to put down. The characters feel 'real' and I became invested in them. Waiting to finish the next book to see how things turn out!

I bought this 2 book set when I could get it for $2.99 plus tax. Sorry, but I sort of wish I had my $4 back. The first book started out quite promising. I loved the setting of Alaska and the story line seemed to have a lot of potential. The story was split between two groups of survivors, which I figured would keep things interesting. But, the more I read, the more the story began falling off the rails for me. The writer's style was kind of "jumpy", in my opinion ~ it would roll along smoothly and build a nice momentum, then it would hit a curb. The same facts were repeated several times about certain characters (just using different words), but not much was said about other characters' backgrounds. Then, BAM ~ suddenly one of the guys mentions he's a pyromaniac. As if we should have somehow gleaned this about him. Um... no! Anyway, I've read far better zombie books than this one, so stopped reading book one when I was about 1/3 of the way through. If that makes this review seem unfair, I'm sorry. However, my time to read is very limited, life is too short and I've read much better books of this genre. That said, I think Sean Schubert has the potential to become a fine writer. He just needs to find an even rhythm for his writing, and then stick with it.

These were great zombie books. Prompted me to buy the next in the series. Great character development and very realistic and believable. Very visual.

The Author does a great job with Character development and it is clear he has spent lots of time in Alaska as he describes the surroundings to a tee. I have read many books in the Zombie genre an this one by far is in my top 3 favorites. Can't wait for the release of the next book in the series.

I could barely put this book down. Because I live in Anchorage, AK, I found these books particularly interesting. But even if you are not from Anchorage, but merely a fan of the Zombie Apocalypse, you will find these books fascinating. A great read indeed!

Good read, but I have to get the next book in the series to see what happens to them.
