Comfort and Joy: A Pride and Prejudice Novella Kindle Edition
While visiting Lambton with the Gardiners three weeks after Mr. Bingley has vacated Netherfield Park, Elizabeth Bennet takes her two young cousins Victoria and Emily and their swooning friend Katie Joy Harris on a holiday ramble through the Derbyshire countryside. With Jane back at the Inn at Lambton, and her Aunt and Uncle on a day trip to Manchester, the girls' adventure becomes treacherous when a snow storm traps them unexpectedly. Taking shelter in an abandoned cottage, they have to face their fears of being stuck in the snow alone, or discovered by a highwayman.
Choosing to surprise his sister Georgiana at Pemberley for Christmas, Fitzwilliam Darcy leaves his friend Charles Bingley in town to nurse a broken heart. Darcy's own heart has been captured by Elizabeth Bennet who is not only beneath him, but who he will never see again. Although a snow storm, abandoned cottage and three precocious girls do not fit into his equation, somehow he is trapped with the woman he loves and is forced to realize his arrogance might have ruined his future happiness.
Join our dear couple as the journey through snow storms, Pemberley and their own feelings to find the Comfort and Joy they bring to one another this holiday season.

Although some might argue that it did not follow customs of the time (possible compromise), it was so well written that I really didn’t seem to care. The three little imps were not too obnoxious and did provide some laughter, sweetness and innocence to the story. Both Elizabeth and Darcy were well written characters. Two likable people that matured in sense and understanding right before your eyes. I always like reading about how ODC come the point of their hearts and minds being changed and becoming one. I also love a sincere (well written) apology. So swoon worthy for Darcy and a proud BBF moment reading Lizzy recite hers.
Short and sweet and so very wonderful especially this time of year. Never fear, you will definitely appreciate this story on a hot humid day in August too.
They get caught in a dangerous snow storm and are accidentally found by Darcy. Good story full of smiles and the giggles of three girl friends together on a rare adventure. If my daughters were still children, I would read this story in December, timing it with opening doors on our Advent calendar.
This is a short story, so everything needs to get wrapped up tidily in a hurry. The cottage where they shelter is part of Pemberly, so as soon as it's possible, Darcy takes them all to his home. The Gardiners and Jane join them, and then who should show up but Bingley! It's not long before Elizabeth learns the truth about Wickham, and gets close to Georgiana. In no time at all, love conquers all.
This is an enjoyable and sweet confection. The storyline is very contrived, but I guess that's required to help things move along quickly. Two of the little girls, Emily Gardiner and Katie Joy, are annoying characters, and disturbingly precocious for eight year old children, with their apparent obsession with lurid love stories and matchmaking. It's kind of icky instead of cute. At the risk of being entirely too nitpicky, I'll say that the story went off the rails for me at the end, when a surprise guest show up at Pemberly, at exactly the right time. I won't say who it was, but it just made me roll my eyes and chuckle about how contrived and convenient it was.
The book is well written and well edited. I recommend it as a and light, heartwarming story.
What a heartwarming little Christmas story, starring the same Gardiner girls who appeared in “An Unexpected Merry Gentleman: A Pride and Prejudice Christmas Novella” plus a friend. Elizabeth Bennet and the three children have a misadventure where they meet up with a surprised Fitzwilliam Darcy.
Cute!
I love these little people; and it is not a slight thing when they, who are so fresh from God, love us. ~ Charles Dickens
Such an enjoyable change of an old story with only minor angst.
I am adding it to my collection because it will be pleasant to read many times over.
