Wreathed in Disgrace: Page-Turning Christmas Romantic Suspense (Coventry Saga) Kindle Edition

4.8 4.8 out of 5 stars 1,099 ratings

A famous actress, a protective bodyguard, a festive Christmas season, and a killer...or two...on the loose.

Everybody believes movie star Denise Masters abandoned her family to pursue her dream, but the truth is much more complex. For years, she's longed to return to Coventry to repair her relationship with her daughter, but contractual obligations--and fear of being rejected--have kept her away. When a serial killer targets Hollywood actors, Denise decides to spend the Christmas holidays in New Hampshire. She will finally face the disgrace of her past.

Private security agent Jon Donley figures the woman he's been hired to guard will turn out to be a paranoid, privileged prima donna. Instead, the more he gets to know Denise, the more he likes her. But he’s not being paid to get involved with her. His job is to keep her safe while he figures out what links her to the other victims.

But the serial killer on the west coast isn't the only danger they face. A second one is closing in fast, threatening not just Denise but the little girl she'll stop at nothing to protect.

Romance, suspense, and a New England Christmas. Don't miss the next installment of the addictive Coventry Saga.

About the Author

Robin Patchen is a USA Today bestselling and award-winning author of Christian romantic suspense. She grew up in a small town in New Hampshire, the setting of her Nutfield Saga books, and then headed to Boston to earn a journalism degree. After college, working in marketing and public relations, she discovered how much she loathed the nine-to-five ball and chain. After relocating to the Southwest, she started writing her first novel while she homeschooled her three children. The novel was dreadful, but her passion for storytelling didn't wane. Thankfully, as her children grew, so did her writing ability. Now that her kids are adults, she has more time to play with the lives of fictional heroes and heroines, wreaking havoc and working magic to give her characters happy endings. When she's not writing, she's editing or reading, proving that most of her life revolves around the twenty-six letters of the alphabet. Denise comes back to her home town to tell the truth about her past. But the bodyguards she hired have their hands full with several threats and not being sure who is after her. The love that finds her and her coming full circle to confessing her past will have you crying. Get out the tissues. Love her courage

She left everything, even her baby girl. Now, she wants to go back to her hometown.
Her ex hates her, someone is killing her fellow starlets, in California, and someone is trying to kill her in New Hampshire.
Can bodyguards really keep her safe, as well as her daughter? Her secrets are coming back to haunt her. Should she go back to California to keep them safe, or will she do more damage to her daughter and friends by leaving them again?
There's another complication, Jon.
This book is a real page turner. Make it a holiday gift to yourself!

Denise Masters was the person I never wanted to like. Getting her story changed my mind in so many ways. The story we didn't know we needed!

I am pretty impressed with my 1st book by Robin Patchen! With all the Christmas, small-town feels, a handsome bodyguard, and plenty of suspense, this is a super intriguing read. Patchen doesn't shy away from the subject of Christianity either...with plenty of scripture and spiritual nuggets throughout. Though this was a suspense about a serial killer it wasn't graphic at all and focused a lot on the heroine's relationship with Christ, her child, and the man she is falling in love with. Highly recommend!

Of all the books in this series, the characters are my favorites. Patchen uses body language to create a scene, add drama, and move plot.
If you don’t enjoy faith language, then just know her writing unashamedly includes it.
If you like a redemption story, need to know second chances exist, and enjoy a good ol’ romantic suspense…this one’s for you.
Now where’s the next book…

Loved being back in Coventry again. Be back with characters I've read about in this on going series. Jon and Denise story was exciting from start to finish. Jon was there to protect not fall in love. Denise didn't think she would fall in love again. But as they were together things changed. Ella was really sweet she accepted somebody new in her moms life. Reid her ex was hard on her at first but that changed as the story went on. His wife Jacqui helped in that respect she accepted Denise and loved her. Denise had great friends to stand with her. Will go back and read Reid story. I totally forgot about Jon being in Thomas and Josie story. So happy that he had a happy ever after. Hope he and the rest of the character s are mentioned in the last two stories in this series. Little Ella has two men to protect her now and they both loved her and her mommy. Ella will always be Jon little bit.

Why had Denise simply walked away from a husband she loved and their new baby and pursued a career in Hollywood? He hated her for it and she hated herself too. Through the intervening years Denise learned you cannot run from problems and you cannot make it through life without God. Even with fame and fortune, she yearned for more time with her growing daughter than just during vacations, so she bought a home in Coventry. Then she learned her life was in danger from two different sources and being guarded 24/7 by a security team. Even in the face of adversity Denise dealt with anger toward her with understanding and kindness; she drew closer to God by storing His word in her heart; and she learned that not only had God forgiven her, but that she truly did have worth. In other words, she lived faith in God in front of others. The interactions between and reactions to the characters in this book portrays the beauty of living life dependent upon God.

Amazing romantic suspense. No gratuitous violence or steam. Real people in trouble trusting God to take care of things. Excellent addition to the series

Families, friends, danger, small town and unexpected relationship.
Well written, did not notice any typos. Great cast of characters. Faith discussions honest and relevant and real. Secrets revealed which caused so much pain and shame. This book turned from a bedtime read into an all day read to get lost in.

Another fantastic read. There are 2 sides to every story. I wasn't prepared for how much Denise*s story would move me. Great thing I already knew Reid's character or i wouldn't have liked him very much.
Jon is awesome, so good for Denise. I'm pleased she got her happy ending.
Lots to learn in this beautiful book about trusting God and loving out our faith. Great characters, I loved it!
