The Girl Next Door (Spring Fling Series Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 92 ratings

After a disastrous marriage and an even worse divorce, Colin Campbell is looking forward to a fresh start with his son in their new home, and the calm that will bring to his life.

The quiet life he’s been craving is well within his reach.

Until he meets his new neighbor.

Millie Solanski.

Uninhibited.

Outspoken.

And maybe even a little crazy.

Somehow, he finds himself involved in her world and the ridiculous situations she seems to constantly find herself in, squashing any hope for the life he wants.

Or at least the life he thought he wanted.

Before he met the girl next door.

The Girl Next Door is truly a feel good, sweet, small town romance. I found myself smiling many times while reading this story. Millie is the type of person who is genuine through and through. She says what she’s thinking and what she feels and acknowledges up front exactly who she is. She recently moved from the city to the small town of New Hope and has had a rough time finding a job that fits her and making friends. Colin has made big mistakes in the past – with how he treated his best friend and whom he chose to marry. But he is back on the path regaining friends lost along that way and forging a better path forward. When he moves into a new house with his son, his next door neighbor is Millie and although he has sworn off relationships it’s clear from their first meeting that there is an attraction between Millie and Colin. I loved reading this book – loved Millie’s relationship with Colin’s son, Noah and reading how Colin and Millie begin a friendship that grows into the more. The Girl Next Door was fun to read and left me with a smile on my face. Such a lovely, feel-good, friends to lovers romance.

Colin, a sexy doctor, is still recovering from a huge mistake causing him to lose his best friend and end up in a bad marriage. Now,free from his ex wife, he makes the decision to sell his trophy house and move to a more modest neighborhood where he meets Millie. Millie, an unfiltered pretty woman that’s still trying to find her way in the world is instantly enamored with her new neighbor and his cute son. Lots of chemistry, some steamy scenes after a pretty slow burn and a cute HEA

A new series by Jennifer Hanks, but still connected to the Dimarco's! I don't know how she does it, but this book was like a warm hug wrapped around you the entire time you are reading it! Single Dad Colin and son Noah move into a new house and quickly learn they have a quirky neighbor, Millie. I love delving into any world that Hanks is going to give me, and when she throws in the Dimarco's it's like the family reunion you didn't know you needed! This slow burn will have you laughing, loving and more than likely calling your family after you finish!

I always get so excited to return to New Hope! Colin and Millie complimented each other perfectly--I just love them together. Colin's son, Noah, was adorable and his relationship with Millie was so sweet. Of course, we get a healthy dose of the DiMarco clan, Sunday dinners, and backyard football, too, which is always welcome! I adore these characters and hope we get many more stories with them.

The Girl Next Door is such a heartwarming story. Millie and Colin are absolutely
perfect opposites that bring out the best in each other. My favorite character is Malcolm Theodore (where did you dig up that name Jenn?) I would most definitely recommend this book to anyone especially if you are looking for a good giggle.

Colin Campbell has been put through the ringer by his ex-wife. He has finally gotten to a place where he is content in his life and situation with his son, Noah. Millie Solanski lives in the house next door to him, and she is the antithesis of his ex. Millie is sweet, caring, and selfless. Colin tries to keep away, but life keeps forcing them together. And he soon realizes that he needs to stop fighting fate and move forward. I really enjoyed Millie's interaction with everyone in Colin's life, and that she didn't shy away from the Dimarco family (not that Jack Dimarco allows that to happen). While this is nt my favorite story from Jennifer Hanks, it was a entertaining read, and I loved revisiting this world. And Colin deserved to get his HEA.

I like Jennifer Hanks books. She creates sympathetic characters, realistic situations and touching love stories. The Girl Next Door delivered all these.

Millie was awesome. She doesn't play games and she says it like it is. What a change for Colin who as the popular kid in school and doctor now has been exposed to way too many game players. One thing he can count on with Millie (of many!) is that she's not after his money and she's not working some long game. She's amazing with his son (my second book in a row with a single dad and son named Noah). Colin is amazing with his son too. Melts a girls heart!

Jackie, Colin's ex-wife, provides the conflict. She's the most uncaring of mothers and manipulative of women. Everything Millie is not, thankfully. I'd have like to see her escalate the tension some but the story worked well with what it contains. Jackie's dad could have been played up some but it was still great to see his interest in his grandson.

As always, it was great to see all the DiMarcos back and Colin's restored friendship with Ben and his reintegration with the family.

I definitely enjoyed my time in Colin and Millie's world.

Thanks to the author for the ARC.

Fun story. Colin and Noah are Millie's new neighbors. Millie had moved to New Hope after inheriting her Grandma's home. She's fun. Colin is divorced and wanted a quiet life.
Good characters. Colin finally puts his guilt in the past and finds true love.
