ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Diego Fortunato, Italian writer, poet, journalist and painter born in Pescara (Italy). Since his earliest childhood, he has lived in Venezuela, his adoptive land, the country where his parents moved when they fled the rigors and devastation left by World War II in Europe. He studied academic studies ranging from theater at the Lily Álvarez Sierra Theater School in Caracas, painting, law at the Law School and journalism at what was then called the School of Journalism of the Central University of Venezuela. From an early age he was seduced by the plastic arts and literature thanks to the passion and dedication of his mother, an avid reader and amateur painter. His novels, tinged with adventure, action and suspense, manage to catch the reader's attention in an instant. His poems, sprinkled with delicate beauty, are woven with magical metaphors. Painting deserves a separate chapter. In his paintings, with striking chromatic contrasts and sometimes subtle and delicate washes, Fortunato establishes surprising dialogues with light and shadows, as in the case of his series Mujeres de piel de sombra and La femme en ocre. Most of his book covers are illustrated with his pictorial works.
