I think what I enjoyed most about this novel is that it does not lean too heavily on any of it's genres. It grabs a little bit of fantasy over here, some mystery over there, and a sprinkle of the macabre. It's not over-the-top. It's like the author took little bits of the things he enjoys and blended them together to tell a fun, spooky story. There's good world building to let you know the who's who and there is great interaction between Nimia and Sahdina that made me smile. The mystery keeps you guessing as everyone seems like a suspect. The book is well written and paced.
If you like mystery, fantasy, and a pinch of horror, you should give this book a try!
