    Nocturne è il primo volume di una nuova serie ambientata nello stesso mondo inventato dalla scrittrice per la trilogia che ha preceduto questo volume (e che non ho letto).
    La vicenda inizia presentando la protagonista Nazafareen come un personaggio già noto ai lettori ma devo dire che la cosa non mi ha disturbato.
    Poco a poco nella trama entrano altre figure che evidentemente hanno un passato e che hanno già intessuto fra loro una serie di rapporti, positivi o conflittuali, e comunque funzionali alla storia.
    E' chiaro che la nostra eroina non ha memoria del suo passato perché un evento traumatico ha risvegliato in lei poteri sconosciuti e il risultato è che la poverina ha perso una mano.
    Chi le sta vicino tende a non parlarle del passato e l'incertezza su chi lei si veramente e su quello che è successo sta minando la salute mentale di Nazafareen.
    Poi altri personaggi entrano nell'equazione e a vicenda decolla con ricchezza di azione e immaginazione e personaggi molto ben definiti ed interessanti.
    Direi che questa è la parte che più mi ha intrigato: è evidente che le vicende precedenti hanno avuto risvolti gravi per tutta una serie di popoli di stampo magico che hanno affinità chi con la terra, chi con l'aria e chi con l'acqua. Sono coloro con l'affinità verso il fuoco i veri antagonisti in questa serie, come si vedrà nei libri successivi. Gli altri, buoni o cattivi, vittime o carnefici, sono a modo loro tutti interessanti e i loro obiettivi e aspirazioni li rendono figure di spessore di cui si finisce per voler seguire i destini.
