About the authors
Okay, I'm a late bloomer who's a big DC comics fan and spent my childhood summers on the Jersey shore in the U.S. but have had a weird wanderlust to live in different parts of America ever since. That's enough about me. Need to feel inspired today? Looking for something to make you root for an ordinary hero? I'm all about that in everything I write.
I love a good tale that makes me wonder about things and I love a story even more that leaves me feeling inspired or like I'm capable of doing more than I realized. That's my goal with everything I've ever written. Some of the stories I tell involve twisting, turning thrillers and others have a lot of magic.
There's something to be said for getting lost in another world and coming out the other side feeling a little better about yourself or the possibilities in front of you. That's basically the best part of life in a nutshell, no matter what kind of story I'm setting out to tell.
Thank you for checking out my stories! There's more at www.marthacarr.com.
Join us on Facebook to hear about new books, giveaways, an idea rolling around about a universe-wide scavenger hunt at the end of the year and more. If you like the series please leave a review and send me a note. More adventures to follow - and thanks for sticking with me.
Michael Anderle (ok, weird talking about myself in the 3rd person) (1967-Hopefully a long time from NOW) was born in Houston, Tx. A very curious child, he got into trouble - a lot. What to do with an inquisitive mind when he was grounded? Read!
Ok, done with all of that 3rd person stuff.
In the first 20 years, I mostly read Science Fiction and Fantasy. In the last 10 years I have enjoyed Urban Fantasy and Military Fiction. With this background, I've been blessed with creating The Kurtherian Gambit series, a well-selling, and fan loved, collection of stories.
The fans have propelled these stories beyond my wildest imagination and they should get all of the credit for sharing with friends, family and occasionally the random person on the street. They are fantastic!

It was exciting to read the adventures throughout the stories,
The imagination of the the author makes a reader laugh, tense up, show relief when good overtakes the bad,,
I mean what happened with Winslow and his team? Do they accept the generator or???
They contained the darkness but what did they do with it?
Got their company back but no justice, imo!
Should have had a six month or year epilogue at the end.
Her character development was really good. Typical young person learning the world and where they fit in it, and doing more to make the world a better place.

The more you read, the harder it gets to put this book down as the storyline gets evermore intense.
*** Spoiler Alert ***
It’s been nice to read a box set like this where I actually like the main character, Fran Berryman. She is intelligent, but never arrogant. She also has absolutely no street smarts and can come across as rather naive at times.
Fran is genuinely nice to everybody, both with friends and strangers, which is how she ends up with such a great core team when setting up her business. She practically “niced” Singar into joining the fledgling company. It’s also been nice to watch Singar’s character grow and learn to relax a bit, safe in the knowledge that neither Fran, nor the rest of the team, will ever blindly judge her based upon her being a Willen.
The one thing I don’t particularly like is both Fran and Singars’ blazé attitude towards taking other people’s technology apart, not just to see how things work (which would be a perfectly acceptable reason), but in order to steal said technology. One or both of them told Bart that they thought it was okay to do this on the basis that they would improve it. This is called reverse engineering and while it isn’t always illegal, it seems like a rather sleazy and unethical way to do business. If you steal someone else’s technology, then technically you’re also stealing their profits.
So, it’s rather ironic that another company has decided to sue Mana Wave for stealing their idea. Fran seems to be rather shocked that anyone could make that accusation, which is doubly ironic given what I wrote above.
BUT, Mana Wave is being sued for “stealing an idea”. According to intellectual property law, you can’t “steal an idea”, therefore they simply have no case. Just imagine all the different companies who produce the same product, like socks for example. If they all sued each other over the idea, it would be complete chaos.
In my old job, we actually had a reverse engineering clause in our contracts with private companies, which would be very costly for them if they chose to break it.
Apart from that one little niggle, I really love these books. It’s nice, light reading that is becoming increasingly hard to put down the closer it gets to the climax.
The one thing I hate about a long series of books is having to say goodbye to the characters at the end. When you find books as well written as these, the characters become friends and you want to know what happens to them once the story is complete. So, I hope to be able to see them again in other Oriceran books.
