A fast paced, well written suspenseful mystery with a complex plot, interesting characters in two families whose history is intricately intertwined! I love following the investigation. Love Heather and Steve!

A fun read. I’m not sure what Christmas has to do with it, other than sell books at this time of year, but an enjoyable read nonetheless the less. I had to be told who the killer was having picked the wrong person. Smiley and Heather are likable chaps and the dialogue flow’s believably. Highly recommended.

The Smiley and McBlythe series is one of the best. Engaging characters and tricky mysteries, without the boring and repetitious sex scenes that too many other authors include in their books for no good reason.

A blind P.I. and his female partner attempt to solve a murder involving two warring families. There are many suspects with a variety of motives, but how to eliminate anyone when no one will cooperate in itself becomes a mystery.

This case was so intriguing I found myself turning pages to find out who the real killer was, only to find that I had completed reading the book in one sitting. No better testament than that.

Another fabulous Smiley and McBlythe mystery solved! Perfect characters, perfect plot and perfectly written, made better without unnecessary violence, sex and curse words. Thank you Mr. Hammack!

A new author for me, at first I wasn't sure but as the story moved along I found the characters likable and believable. He kept the murderer a secret until the end. Even though that kind of money is insane.

As usual a very fun and entertaining book to read. I was not expecting who the murderer was which makes it all the better. Love reading books from Bruce Hammack.

As usual, Bruce Hammack has pulled together an intriguing cast of suspects, each with a possible motive for murder. Master sleuth Steve Smiley and his partner, Heather McBlythe, never fail to deduce who’s guilty, and this time they had a little help from Steve’s goddaughter, Bella—a sleuth-in-training, perhaps? The culprit is eventually revealed in a classic scene where all suspects are present and each one’s motive is addressed and discarded until the murderer is named. The author kept me guessing on this one right up to the end.

While the protagonists analyze clues, Hammack also sneaks in a little romance. Heather and Jack, her significant other, seem on the verge of making their commitment permanent…but are they? I have my own suspicions about where this relationship is headed, and I’m very tempted to ask the author if I’m right!

A gripping, well-written and enjoyable story. Great characters too, but having mistletoe in the title is a little misleading because it has only a very minor role and there is nothing Christmassy about the story at all.
