Fraser: A Navy Seal and a female bodyguard hunt for a princess on the run!/A Minnesota Marshalls novel (1) (The Marshall Family Saga Book 9) Kindle Edition

4.7 4.7 out of 5 stars 1,157 ratings

Fraser Marshall is pretty sure his career as a Spec Ops fighter is over. Yes, he’s gone into private security, working for Jones, Inc, but his last gig ended with him wounded and taken captive. And those wounds just won’t heal. The last thing he wants to do is stick around his family’s winery pressing grapes. But what choices does he have?

The answer comes via a panicked phone call from his kid brother, Creed.

Help, Fraser. I’m in over my head…

Yeah he is, because he’s run away with a princess, with her bodyguard hot on the trail. And said bodyguard, Pippa Butler is going to hunt them down, no matter the cost.

Even if she has to join forces with a bossy, arrogant former American SEAL. But Pippa has her own set of lethal skills, and if Fraser gets in the way, she’ll leave him on the side of the road. Still, maybe he’s not a terrible side-kick. He is handsome, and he makes her laugh…

No, no, bad Pippa! She has no room for a man—an American—in her life. And Fraser hasn’t ever considered slowing down. Even if Pippa has him wondering if there is a different future ahead.

But there’s more to the story than a Romeo-and-Juliet runaway romance. Princess Imani has seen a murder, and the perpetrator isn’t going to let her get away. Will Fraser and Pippa find the couple first?

And if they do, can they work together to keep them safe?

It’ll be tough if their hearts get in the way…

Although I attended the U of Minnesota, I’m a woodsy girl at heart. Or maybe I’m an adventurer—having lived and traveled all over the world, including Siberia, Russia as a missionary for eight years. That’s why my characters seem to get into one scrape after another—they’re too much like me! I love God, my family, my country, my church, and feel privileged every day to be able to write stories.

And my 'official' bio:

With nearly 2 million books sold, critically acclaimed novelist Susan May Warren is the Christy, RITA, and Carol award-winning author of over ninety novels. Known for her compelling plots and unforgettable characters, Susan has penned contemporary and historical romances, romantic suspense, thrillers, rom-coms, and Christmas novellas. Exciting, Dramatic and Fast-Paced!

Exciting, Dramatic and Fast-Paced!
Always a fan of Susan May Warren’s books, I was delighted to see the return of several favorite characters from series past, as well as launch into this intriguing story of former Navy SEAL Fraser Marshall and Lauchtenland Royal Guard Pippa Butler. Warren weaves all her books, characters and series together in most masterful ways, making them so exciting to read. With beautiful scenery, riveting moments of suspense and heroism, these two powerful characters took me on a captivating ride. I could hardly put this story down! Great chemistry, tension, and moments of intensity. There was also a strong faith message, beautifully interwoven into character growth and a happily ever after. Can’t wait for the next book in this series!Only drawback for me - keeping this from a five star read? Too many repetitive phrases and words (i.e. “probably” and “maybe”) that had me rushing through sentences, wanting to skip parts I’d already read.*I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book from the author. All thoughts are my own and I was not required to post a positive review.

Fraser is full of excitement, danger, intrigue, mystery, disloyalty, treason, betrayal, faith, allegiance, reliability, protectiveness, trustworthiness, dependability, and romance. I greatly enjoyed this story. I liked the love: love of country, love of family, and romantic love. I liked the conversations about faithfulness. I was fully engrossed in this exciting and gripping story. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series.

This story has so many things going for it. A princess, a former SEAL, romance, action, danger, mystery and so much more. And in true Susan May Warren fashion, we get a glimpse at multiple storylines that though they work together, feel like they are separate (in a good way). This fast paced novel is a great start to a new series! Swoons heroes aside, it’s got tension, drama, and all the feels.

I thought it was comical how Fraser was “stuck” at the winery, a place I just couldn’t see a character like him at. But ya know, sometimes we all need to be in that spot. A spot that is uncomfortable and gives us the time to think, dwell, and hopefully grow. But when he got that call from Creed - oh I was ready for the action!

There was also some fun twists and turns that I didn’t see coming. I thought I had the whodunnit all figured out and oh how wrong I was. I like to be wrong about that because it meant the author did a great job of putting the clues together in a sneaky way to make me think I was hot on the trail, even though I wasn’t lol.

Somehow Warren always manages to have the perfect blend of action, suspense, romance, kisses, swoony moments, and faith. It always keeps me coming back for more! I highly recommend this new series.

Wow! Another great start to a wonderful series! I can't wait to read more. I love this author and it has been a while since I have had the time to pick up one of her books. I lost way too much sleep staying up well into the early morning hours so I could finish this book. It has loads of suspense and drama, murder, intrigue, and, of course, romance.

Frasier mostly healed from some injuries he had sustained in an earlier op but his mind still was struggling. When he received a frantic call from his adopted brother, Creed, who was in Europe, he knew he had to step it up and come to his rescue. In the process, he ended being rescued himself. And, he could finally experience healing, body and soul, for himself.

Pippa also had scars, not ones that could be seen but they were there just the same. Frasier just might be the one to help her see where the wounds still existed and find a way to help her heal.

There were so many wonderful characters in this book and a setup for the next one in the series, which I cannot wait to get my hands on.

An easy read. I love the way Susan Warren inserts belief and faith into every day life. The theme of this book could be trust in God for all things. I’m looking forward to the next book in the Marshall family.

Fraser an ex Navy Seal recovering from a mission gone wrong and Pippa a personal security guard for Princess Imani who is trying to restore her family name. Fraser and Pippa have to work together to find the missing princess and Frasers younger brother who are on the run after witnessing a murder.

Firstly I loved how this story picks up threads from both RJ & Yorks book series as well as the Sky King Ranch trilogy! I definitely felt there were some loose threads from those books so I’m excited to see these wrapped up.

The fictional European Lauchtenland - think Genovia from The Princess diaries - was great!

Loved Pippa - she was really competent and could hold her own. Pippa and Fraser had great chemistry from the outset and worked together so well it was easy to see their relationship build.

This book had it all - exciting action, edge of your seat suspense, gorgeous vineyards, interesting European locations, faith, family reconnection and some great banter (looking at you Marvel nicknames!)

I would really recommend this book as it has a great story however I think you might find there are a few too many side characters/subplots if you haven’t read any of Warrens other series (The Montana Marshall’s, RJ & York’s trilogy and Sky King Ranch)

For the most part, I really enjoyed this book by Susan Warren. Full of intrigue, betrayal and heroism, the storyline kept me glued to the pages. However, I often had to go back over the way the story unfolds, as it includes 3 countries and several people whom I easily lost track of. Having said that, I admit I'm not as young as I used to be, and much of what I grappled with was because of my age. Warren has a unique writing style, one I've not encountered before, but it leads the reader into the thoughts and attitudes of the characters in an intimate and often humorous way, keeping the heavier parts of the story somewhat lighter. Some of the description included in the romance was a bit too intimate for me. Otherwise, it's a surprising, well-written tale. Still, I'm debating whether or not to keep reading in this series.
