About the authors
Okay, I'm a late bloomer who's a big DC comics fan and spent my childhood summers on the Jersey shore in the U.S. but have had a weird wanderlust to live in different parts of America ever since. That's enough about me. Need to feel inspired today? Looking for something to make you root for an ordinary hero? I'm all about that in everything I write.
I love a good tale that makes me wonder about things and I love a story even more that leaves me feeling inspired or like I'm capable of doing more than I realized. That's my goal with everything I've ever written. Some of the stories I tell involve twisting, turning thrillers and others have a lot of magic.
There's something to be said for getting lost in another world and coming out the other side feeling a little better about yourself or the possibilities in front of you. That's basically the best part of life in a nutshell, no matter what kind of story I'm setting out to tell.
Thank you for checking out my stories! There's more at www.marthacarr.com.
Join us on Facebook to hear about new books, giveaways, an idea rolling around about a universe-wide scavenger hunt at the end of the year and more. If you like the series please leave a review and send me a note. More adventures to follow - and thanks for sticking with me.
Michael Anderle (ok, weird talking about myself in the 3rd person) (1967-Hopefully a long time from NOW) was born in Houston, Tx. A very curious child, he got into trouble - a lot. What to do with an inquisitive mind when he was grounded? Read!
Ok, done with all of that 3rd person stuff.
In the first 20 years, I mostly read Science Fiction and Fantasy. In the last 10 years I have enjoyed Urban Fantasy and Military Fiction. With this background, I've been blessed with creating The Kurtherian Gambit series, a well-selling, and fan loved, collection of stories.
The fans have propelled these stories beyond my wildest imagination and they should get all of the credit for sharing with friends, family and occasionally the random person on the street. They are fantastic!
Charles Tillman writes stories in multiple subgenres of Fantasy and Science Fiction. He has always been an avid reader and in 2018 answered a call for short story submissions and his story was accepted for an anthology.
Hi
Thank you for stopping by. I suppose I should start by telling you a little about me
I have lead an eclectic life, to say the least. Fresh out of high school, three days after graduation, I was at Lackland AFB in San Antonio, Texas for basic training. After basic, I spent a few years as a Loadmaster on C-130 aircraft in the MS Air National Guard. It was a great gig for a young man and I got to see a whole lot of the world as a guard bum. I had a blast and got paid to do it.
Realizing it was time to settle down and get a "real" job I spent the next twenty-six plus years working in law enforcement. I saw the best and the worst in humanity during those years. The things that one human being is capable of doing to another is mindblowing. I won more battles than I lost and came out on the other end with some scars but mostly intact and most importantly...Retired.
During those years reading Fantasy and Science Fiction was my escape from reality and my sanity saver. I read everything I could find that had magic or space ships in it. The farther away from the real world the better.
In 2018 I answered a call for short story submissions in an existing urban fantasy universe created by two authors who were opening their world up for us fans to play in. In late 2018 my story was accepted and on April 16, 2019, I became a published author thanks to Michael Anderle and Martha Carr's generosity in allowing me to write in their world.
That was the first but most assuredly not the last story that I will write. I am currently working on a couple of projects that are the kind of books I like, and hope you will too, to read.
Thank you for stopping by and keep a lookout for things to come.
Charles

In his first endeavor he demonstrated complete and total command of his characters’ inner worlds. While arguably an “action” series, it was the motivations and emotions behind that action that gave the series its power and impact. With this series he proves he’s equally a master of the outer world as well. This is not to say he neglects his characters’ inner life, not at all, but this is truly an action-packed series, with intricate plot twists and puzzles galore.
He also feeds us on both sides of the fence, letting us in on the villains’ plotting and scheming, all while we watch our heroes move from confusion to that “Eureka!” moment when they finally figure “it” out. It’s totally enthralling, which makes it a bit cruel when he doesn’t let us in on ALL the villains’ plans, forcing us to wait or figure it out, just like the characters. But I suppose that’s not cruel at all, really, and more just a sign of great and deeply engaging writing.
There are also multiple connections being forged here to the larger Oriceran canon, and I’m loving it. I clued in to Nicole’s identity about 3-4 sentences before it was made clear and I was over the moon to see her there, not to mention the early development of anti-magic bullets. Given how far back in time this series is set, it makes me wonder if Zeb has opened The Dragons, yet.
If you haven’t read this series, do so. It’s a great introduction to Oriceran and you’re in for a ton of fun! Enjoy!
I'm so glad that the drugs are gone for good! That was some scary crap! Can't wait for the Blackwells to get what they all deserve?
Hope Speaker Corbal gets her upcomince to! That woman makes my blood boil!

He brings something a little different to Martha Carr, and Michael Anderle's style of writing, and this has kept me enthralled from book to book, with the storylines and characters getting more complex and layered with each book.
This one was no different.
From the first sentence to the last, it had me gripped, and not wanting it to end.
We have Matt and Natalia constantly being called out, to go after the bounties that are being put out more and more often now, and then there's all the drugs that are flooding the streets of every major city in America - with ever more of the users going crazy, and attacking everyone around them, with a strength that's frightening in it's intensity - and which is killing the users, too!
Unfortunately, Winston Blackwell, the present Head of the Dark Families, is the instigator of the drug plan, and seems to be getting away with it all -with the help of various people set up high in the Government!
Even though his sons seem to be catching the brunt of those resisting what he's doing - and this is a Magical who's determined to come out on top, no matter who he has to step on to do so - nothing seems to stop him from putting his plan into action!
I think one of the things that caught my attention early on in this series, was that there's no real defining line between those deemed 'bad', and those 'good'!
So many of the characters have both traits in their characters, and Charles has perfectly used this very human trait, to show that, while there are extremes, the vast majority of us all have a mix, brought on by a major - or even a minor - incident, which can turn someone from a decent, Law-abiding citizen, into something quite awful.
The opposite, of course, can happen, too, where someone considered quite evil, under societal norms, can show a side where love or kindness comes to the fore.
I really love this, as it's kept me guessing! Lol
Sadly, this is the second to last book of the series - at least I assume it is, as I believe the final book was released very recently - and so I'll be going on to book five: 'More Monsters, More Mayhem', next.
I feel quite sad, really, as I grew to love - and hate - the characters quite early on, and the books were so enthralling, that I read them very quickly.
But I guess I'm getting used to this now, and so I'm off to start reading book five right now, and I'll catch you on the flip side, to let you know what I think about this, possibly last, book of the series!
