    Lovely Christmas read.

A Louisiana Christmas to Remember is a collection of three interconnected romances set in the fictional Louisiana town of Moreau, which is loosely based on Natchitoches, the oldest European settlement in Louisiana

A Louisiana Snow by Morgan Tarpley Smith
This is the story of Mattie Hayes, small-town journalist and organiser extraordinaire, who is organising the Christmas market to raise funds to restore the local chapel after it was damaged in a recent hurricane. This means working with Paul Ammons, her long-time rival since he beat her to become high school valedictorian and won a coveted scholarship to Paris.

Restoring Christmas by Betsy St. Amant
This is the story of Jolene, Mattie’s artist cousin, who is hired at the last minute to repaint the town mural, and Cameron, Jolene’s new boss.

A Christmas Reunion by Lenora Worth
This is the story of Mattie’s aunt … and I don't want to say too much more about it, because that will ruin the surprise.

My favourite story was Mattie’s, perhaps because she is the character I related to best, and perhaps because I’m a big fan of friends/frenemies to more stories. My least favourite story was Adala’s, because even though I know these are made-up stories, I’m not a fan of controlling parents who go out of their way to do what they want rather than seeking what’s best for their child (as God does for us).

I loved the way the three stories were separate but intertwined. Even though they are all standalone stories and all set at the same time it’s best to read them in order, as each story introduces situations and characters that become more relevant in the next story.

It’s also fun to see the came characters from different points of view. In the first story, Mattie has definite opinions about Jolene and whether she can be trusted, but Jolene’s story explains why she is how she is.. I enjoyed seeing Granny Eloise in all three stories as well, as the mentor figure able to give advice whether it’s wanted or not.

The three stories combine to provide a heart-warming Christmas set of Christian romances, even if the Louisiana snow is a far cry from the sunshine I am used to at Christmas.

Thanks to Barbour Publishing and NetGalley for providing a free ebook for review.

While I read this book after Christmas, I loved the fictitious town of Moreau, LA, and the overlapping of characters amongst the three novellas. Each love story was exciting and sweet, but as a former French teacher, I loved Adale's and Remy's re-ignited relationship with French flair in the final novella. All the characters were well developed and delightful!

Being a native Louisianan I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book set in my home state. The characters and stories are cleverly woven together. I will definitely read this one again and again.

I so enjoyed this book. All three stories meld into one holiday romance story. I love how they all tied together and even Granny found love.although I wouldn’t mind reading a complete story about Ganny and Chef Earnie! Maybe next time! Definitely a recommended romance to read!

I enjoy reading novellas and this is a lovely Christmas one. Each story builds off of the previous one and when one ends the next seamlessly starts as we find a generational thing going with strong and faithful women from the same Louisiana town. We don't usually connect snow and Louisiana but this season with a little holiday magic and a generous helping from the unexpected snowstorm forgiveness, romance and coming together again of a special family may just be happening.
A delightful feel-good holiday story I was delighted to read.

I was given a complimentary copy of this book.
All opinions expressed are my own.

    A LOUISIANA CHRISTMAS TO REMEMBER

I give this book an overall 3.5 stars.

    Each story covers one week.

"A Louisiana Snow" (Morgan Tarpley Smith)
As coordinator of Moreau's Christmas market, Mattie has a to-do list for every detail. If creativity can revive her hometown after a devastating hurricane, Mattie's got it covered. If only her high-school rival wasn't distracting her; she doesn't need Perfect Paul watching over her.
Paul has been home teaching for a year, but Mattie is still merely tolerant of him. He'd hoped they could develop a friendship--okay, maybe more--but that hasn't happened. Neither has reconciliation with his dad; being the son of the devoted mayor has left Paul hurt and tense.
While Mattie and Paul prepare for the market, work at booths, and tackle problems, will they both get the healing they need?
**This author was new to me. Mattie is a go-getter, perfectionistic at times, very active, and her point of view shows that. Since Paul wasn't so organized and driven, I expected his viewpoint to be more relaxed, but it really wasn't. The story felt clipped and busy, just like Mattie, with constant activity, tasks aplenty, and some cute moments tossed in. Because they had a history--albeit a competitive one--it wasn't unrealistic that Mattie and Paul got together.

    "Restoring Christmas" (Betsy St. Amant)
The town needs a mural, Jolene needs insight, and Cameron needs wisdom.
Jolene's dreams haven't materialized after 5 years in Nashville; now she's home for Christmas--begrudgingly--and isn't sure what her next career move should be. But repainting Moreau's iconic mural wasn't her idea; in fact, she's terrified to try. Cameron is in charge of the chapel area repairs, including the mural. The more he interacts with the bristly Jolene, the more he realizes she's not a selfish woman but a wounded one. His good sense says to leave her be; his heart wants to help her. Will there be a mural to reveal on Sunday? Will Jolene choose to stay in Moreau?
**This author was new to me (the line early on about Granny having to get her own sugar made me a fan). I'm not an artist, so I had a hard time understanding the artistic side of Jolene (why she struggled with painting, why she wanted something different for the mural). I also didn't agree with her final mural solution, even though Cameron and the town thought it was perfect. Cameron had a distinct 'voice' and though less strict than story #1 portrayed him, he was very intuitive and sweet. There's some heavy soul-searching for Jolene but not too heavy. It's a full week but with some humor and fun.

    "A Christmas Reunion" (Lenora Worth)
The annual Christmas ball is Adale's focus--or should be, until her long-lost first love shows up. Never mind that he's now a renowned architect and discounting the chapel repairs; why is he here, now? Remy has never loved anyone else and hoped that this was the time to approach Adale. But the classy widow is quite upset, hurt, and too polite. Will this Christmas bring a second chance for Adale and Remy?
**I haven't read this author's work in years. At like 55 years old, Adale is Jolene's mother and Mattie's aunt; she doesn't want to rehash the broken heart she earned at age 16. I thought Adale's concerns were redundant, and that the explanation was kept secret too many years. Remy was sweet. Granny is less flamboyant in this story. The ball took a backseat to the relationship aspect. Everyone was happy at the end.

****There aren't strong faith elements. God factors in in varying degrees through the stories. There were missed opportunities to talk about trusting God, show people praying, etc.; the folks are reported as strong Christians--it would've been nice to have seen that in action more. But what was said was good.
The romance elements are chaste, gentle, cozy.
Though a Christmas book, I personally wasn't overwhelmed by Christmasy things. Which was fine. The book cover is beautiful, and matches the description of the Lavigne House (story #1) perfectly!
I know nothing about Louisiana or French, but I wasn't lost when certain foods were discussed or foreign words were used.
Overall, unique situations were presented, characters had obstacles to overcome or at least make better, and I liked Granny (who is in each story) for all her matchmaking and drama.
A lighthearted book tackling some serious themes without crowding out the pleasure of reading.
