The Big Dog series are well written and provide an authentic window into law enforcement. It's fun to read about Long Beach, where I worked for 26 years. I'm sure Steve's premise in these books would be something he would enjoy doing. The technical aspects of human scent trailing as described were very interesting.

I'm looking forward the next book and JW's quest the bring the Shadow to justice.

I’m hoping book 3 spends more time using the dogs. Book 1 set up the need for the team and book 2 set up the new training facility. Now it’s time for book 3 to do more police work and work the dogs. Looking forward to it.
