About the author

Hello and thank you for visiting my author page! I am the author of seven novels, the most recent of which is THE WEDDING, which tells the story of Meg who travels to Wales for the wedding of her university friend, Polly. Meg has been looking forward to this, but over the course of the following 24 hours old resentments rise to the surface, grievances are aired and secrets are revealed in the most catastrophic way. It will be a weekend Meg and her friends never forget, but for all the wrong reasons.
Before turning to fiction, I worked as a journalist for many years, and during my career I interviewed hundreds of people with stories to tell. Listening to their experiences gave me a fascinating insight into humanity in all its guises: what makes people tick and how they react to whatever life throws at them. I aim to write books that suck the reader in: plots that keep you turning the pages and characters who work their way inside your head. The sort of books where you have to read just one more chapter before you turn off the bedside light at night.
I live in Gloucestershire with my husband and far too many animals and we have three grown up children. If you'd like to find out more about me and my writing, please visit my website - www. sarahedghill. com
In THE GOOD DAUGHTER (publ Oct 24) Eve is struggling to hold things together as emotional and physical demands are being made on her from all sides: her elderly mother has just gone into a nursing home, her young son is playing up at school and her ex seems to be enjoying a perfect life with his new wife and their daughter. Then Eve discovers a family secret that threatens to undermine everything she thought she knew about her own past.
In THE POOL (publ June 24) two sisters and their families arrive for a holiday at a French villa, to find a dead body floating in the swimming pool. As the police investigate and the media get hold of the story, the two families find their already fragile bonds are ripped apart and long-held resentments and secrets come to the fore.
In MEMORY ROAD (publ March 24) Lily takes her elderly mother, Moira, on one last roadtrip around the UK. As they trundle across the country in a battered old campervan, Lily feels the strain as she struggles to deal with her mother's decline, her own daughter's criticism and her ex-husband's forthcoming marriage to a younger woman.
THE BAD WIFE (publ June 23) tells the story of Katie, who becomes obsessed by a stranger and starts to worm her way into his life, with devastating consequences for both of them. Katie can't get local GP Joe Harvey out of her mind, but he barely knows she exists... yet.
In HIS OTHER WOMAN (publ May 22), Lucy's husband goes missing having sent her one brief text asking her not to get in touch. She eventually discovers he is with another woman, but it's not who she thinks it it, and the results may be more devastating than an affair.
A THOUSAND TINY DISAPPOINTMENTS (publ Sept 21) tells the story of Martha, whose mother dies unexpectedly and leaves everything a stranger. Struggling with grief and finding herself unsupported by her uninterested husband and bullying brother, Martha is left facing the ultimate moral dilemma: should she carry out her mother’s last wishes, or destroy the evidence so no one will ever know?

- Reviewed in the United States on December 1, 2023Marriage is not always happiness and understanding. Some married people outgrow one another and others just go stale. Our author covers all of these factors in this novel. Katie is in her early forties, married to Pete who is a teacher. They have two teen-aged girls. Katie is the office manager for a large equipment rental business and bored with her life believing that her children hate her and that her husband is tired of her. She also has a serious drinking problem as well as a severe anger management problem. Her best friend is Monica whom she totally trusts. And, then Katie encounters Joe. Nothing is right after that: Pete has problems at school, the girls are disrespectful and fighting, Monica has problems with Katie, and Katie only wants Joe. But, is Katie's obsession good for her or does it have far-reaching effects? I strongly urge you to read this book. You will not believe Katie, and for sure you will be blown away with the ending.

- Reviewed in the United States on July 28, 2023I enjoyed this book! It was extremely well written and the author has the gift of being able to make her protagonist likable and sympathetic even when doing bad things. The author does a good job of showing how the loss of Katie’s mother, the disintegration of her marriage, and overall ennui with her life situation combine to bring about her emotional and mental collapse. In my opinion a few things kept this very good book from being great. Spoilers….I thought that Katie’s fixation on Joe - the premise of the book - could have had stronger development. It starts out almost as erotomania where Katie reads meaning into every interaction and non-interaction between the two of them - but that thread falls by the wayside and her obsession is solved a bit too neatly. This part of the plot deserved a much stronger conclusion. Katie’s meeting and friendship with Rachel is the only false note in an otherwise plausible plot. As Katie is stalking Rachel, the two coincidentally are involved in a car accident, Katie further damages Rachel’s car in a rage, and then Rachel quickly yields to Katie’s aggressive friendship overtures? It felt unlikely. And last - the husband’s affair with the best friend and Joe’s dalliance with his staff members seem unnecessary. Katie’s actions and evolution deserve to stand alone without being mitigated by the bad behavior of others. Overall it was a very good book - good enough that I wish it had been just a little bit different!

- Reviewed in the United States on July 29, 2023This book was the opposite of suspenseful. Katie is an unappreciated housewife who becomes obsessed with her doctor. Three-quarters of this book is filled with mind-numbing details of Katie's day-to-day life. I started skipping pages and didn't miss a thing. There was no build-up to anything, definitely no suspense, and when I got to what actually would have finally been interesting had the lame story been carried through, the author skips to the unsatisfying and lazy epilogue. Such a waste of time.
SPOILERS AHEAD. I wish a reviewer had left some and saved me from wasting my time on this book:
Katie becomes obsessed with doctor. She carries out a boring and stupid relationship with him completely in her head. She comes on to him once at his office. He rebuffs her advances. End of nonexistent suspense. Her "best friend" rides off into the sunset with her husband. The end. Boring, drawn out, and way too much detail about nothing that matters.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 9, 2023Sarah Edghill gives us another phenomenal book with THE BAD WIFE. Katie has a little breakdown…. Well Katie has a big breakdown!! Katie is handed so much to deal with her mothers death, unsupportive husband, moody teen daughter, obnoxious coworker, job she doesn’t love, feeling frumpy middle age moving in…….. all leads Katie to devise a mental infatuation that she not thinking clearly puts into action and spirals out of control. You will not want to put this book down as you connect with Katie’s character and want to see just what Katie will do next. Buy this book, read this book!!! 5 stars!!
- Reviewed in the United States on July 7, 2024This may be the first book that I have read where I liked the book, but I did not like a single character. I enjoyed the author’s writing style. I wish she hadn’t had the best friend betray her, it seemed unnecessary. I wish both of her daughters would have got smacked in the face a couple times. It seemed like every character turned out to be a terrible person, even the main character. There was seriously not one single character that wasn’t a villain in some way, which takes something away from me because I do like to root for somebody. I did not root for anybody. I will probably read more books from this author just because I like the way she writes.
That’s redeeming for me.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 19, 2023A women destroying everything in her life to lust after a man she has only seen doesn’t portray normal life. Lusting after someone is one thing but doing the things she did all while destroying her life is crazy. The ending only portrayed her as the awful person she was. Only finished because I felt there had to be a twist but was highly disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another cracker!
Yet another great read from Sarah, who seems to address so many relatable situations in her books. We've all done it... that moment of madness where, for a split second, you imagine a completely different life. Few act on it though, and let this be a cautionary tale about doing so! Great characters and a twisty plot keep you on tenterhooks to the end. Highly recommend, and I can't wait for Sarah's next book. What will it be about? Whatever it is, it'll be funny, dark, complex and compulsive reading.

4.0 out of 5 stars An Gripping Story
This was a really good read from a story point of view and lots of page turning moments, but let down by poor editing which is disappointing!
There are grammatical errors but also a problem with continuity. On a visit to the pub the protagonist makes a point of leaving her car at home but then on leaving, she gets into her car in the pub car park and drives home!
I would definitely have given this book 5*'s if it wasn't for the poor/lazy editing, but I have bought another of Sarah Edghill's books so hopefully this will be better.

2.0 out of 5 stars Bad wife bad story
Unlikable characters
Boring story
I was going to give up but managed to finish this strange book to see what happened in the end.
I don’t recommend this book.

3.0 out of 5 stars Wouldn't describe this as a psychological thriller...
It was an easy enough read, although not all of it believable - for example the house break-in. I saw the final twist coming from a long way out. More of a domestic genre book than psychological suspense though.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gripped!
I loved this book from the first page. I was immediately engaged in the story and the pace never slows. The protagonist Katie is well drawn and we follow the twists and turns of her story following the death of her mother. I genuinely did not want this book to end! This is domestic drama at its best. Highly recommended.
