Great Book
I have my quilt stand set up and I have been trying to pick some great fabrics to do one with. I really enjoyed reading the book as much as looking at the beautiful quilts.

I attended one of the author’s quilting classes in person, but I forgot some of the things I learned. This book is perfect because it fills in the details I forgot! It gives lots of full color pictures and detailed instructions for completing projects that range from pillows to quilts.
One of my favorite parts was the author’s personal stories, especially the story of a woman named Miss Sue, who taught her the quilting technique.
I absolutely love the three dimensional feature of these gorgeous quilts.
Since the author lives in my hometown, I know that her quilts have been in the International Quilt Museum. So, I know that when I practice the quilting techniques in her book, I will be learning from a widely respected expert.
This book is fun to read because of the personal stories, and it is practical because of all the detailed instructions.

A recent posting on YouTube let me into the world of Pine Cone [Prairie Points, Burr Cone, Cockelbur] quilting. I knew I had to get the book, and I'm glad I did. It's unlikely that I'll make a full-sized quilt in this technique, but I'm certainly going to make smaller blocks to include in some of my quilts. Well written and illustrated, the author introduces us to the amazing character of Miss Sue, her mentor and teacher. Well worth the read.

This book covers the history of pinecone quilts beautifully. The pictures and ideas are well done. There is a bit of instruction, but I was hoping for more instruction and patterns. I'll probably adapt and use my sewing machine instead of sewing them by hand. Lovely book.
