The War on Warriors: Behind the Betrayal of the Men Who Keep Us Free Kindle Edition

4.8 out of 5 stars 3,769 ratings

AN INSTANT #1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER FROM PRESIDENT TRUMP'S NOMINEE FOR SECRETARY OF DEFENSE

Real men fought for our freedoms. It’s time we fought for theirs.

Pete Hegseth joined the Army to fight extremists. Then that same Army called him one. The military Pete joined twenty years ago was fiercely focused on lethality, competency, and color blindness. Today our brass are following the rest of our country off the cliff of cultural chaos and weakness.

Americans with common sense are fighting this on many fronts, but if we can’t save the meritocracy of our military, we’re definitely going to lose everywhere else.

The War on Warriors uncovers the deep roots of our dysfunction—a society that has forgotten the men who take risks, cut through red tape, and get their hands dirty. The only kind of men prepared to face the dangers that the Left pretends don’t exist. Unlike issues of education or taxes or crime, this problem doesn’t have a zip code solution. We can’t move away from it. We can’t avoid it. We have only one Pentagon. Either we take it back or surrender it altogether.

Combining his own war experiences, tales of outrage, and an incisive look at how the chain of command got so kinked, this book is the key to saving our warriors—and winning future wars. The War on Warriors must be won by the good guys, because when the shooting really starts, they’re the only ones who can save us.

Learning about our SecDef

Learning about our SecDef
Bought this to become more acquainted with our new SecDef.I agree with a number of his ideas, most of his talking points (ie corruption with generals and the military industrial complex) I’m familiar with due to Hackworth ‘About Face’ and Schellers ‘Crisis in Command’. Scheller also raised concerns about DEI in his book which Hegseth also elaborates on.

An eloquent while straightforward one man's confession of his imperfect yet unwavering love for his and our country and her people regardless of their creed, for his family, for his and ours Army, Navy, the Marines: I just got more of his books, and we are all better off with this man as our Secretary of Defense. Get it with the audio (by Pete Hegseth himself) that brings forth the strength and the sincerity of the author's voice (both physically and metaphorically). Highly quotable and dynamic, rich with stories, and brave with concepts, this book ranks on my virtual bookshelf as a marker of hope in our turbulent times! Saving the military is a necessary component of saving the USA !

Well written by someone who knows, has been in the trenches, who understands the basics, and is not tarnished by the cloud or fog of the sadness of our country. He is someone who will start to overturn the disease that has been allowed to slowly seep into our great nation. Great pick by a real President who really cares for this special place we call home. We will be strong again, thank God!

As someone who is well into their senior years and who has served in the military for 4 years and almost 30 years as a L.E. officer I have been aware of the changes in our culture and warrior philosophy over the years. This is why while browsing on Amazon when I saw this 231-page hardcover book by our new Dept. of Defense leader, Pete Hegseth, I decided to purchase it.

Right off the bat from the very first page I loved this book. As a person who has lived his whole life attempting to live my life following the philosophy of the “way of the warrior (Bushido)” in my life from the martial arts to my profession, I related to this excellent book from my heart and soul.

The fourteen chapters cover a lot of material such as “ The war we missed, extremists that never were, cowboys led by cowards, the left’s very special forces, the deadly obsession with women warriors, riot shields and real racism, the laws of war for winners” and other interesting and informative chapters.

Anyone who is concerned with how the far-left lunatics are attempting to destroy our American military values and warrior philosophy may want to check out this excellent book. I loved it.

Rating: 5 Stars. Joseph J. Truncale (Author: The Samurai Soul: An old warrior's poetic tribute).

Finally a ray of hope for our military. This book would have been dreadful to read had our election gone the other way. Don’t get me wrong, even though this book is well worth the read, it is also maddening as well. I saw a lot of what he talks about first hand as I joined years before 9/11 and retired last year. I served as both enlisted and as an officer, with conventional military and also in Special Operations. I have witnessed the decline of the military we hold so dear. Please read this book and know how we got to where we are now.

2.0 out of 5 stars An attack on silly ideas but misses a few points

I agree ld with many of the points. I’m unclear about the author’s wider views on military strategy. I’d liked to have seen more here about what the writer thinks about American defence, the role of creating an active civilian force, etc.

I also find the Christian messaging a bit off-putting. America was founded by men who understood that there’s a clear separation of church and state, even though much of American culture is a mix of judeo-Christian and Greco-Roman traditions, with a strong dose of Anglo-Scottish political philosophy.

The book is also repetitive in its points and too angry. It’s not going to convince the undecided voter.

5.0 out of 5 stars An effective military is lethal not woke
Reviewed in Germany on December 22, 2024
He supported his conclusions from direct experience and strong research. His conclusions were common sense. Being gay might be irrelevant to the unity and effectiveness of a combat unit but being trans, dependent on various meds unavailable in the field, clearly is a disruptive problem. All women and mixed units are less lethal than all male frontline units. Race should be irrelevant.
