His Treasured Bride (Bride Ships: New Voyages Book 2) Kindle Edition
After recently arriving in Vancouver Island on a bride ship, aspiring seamstress Daisy Harper is determined not to rush into a hasty and quarrelsome marriage, a mistake her parents made. To avoid choosing the wrong man, she creates a rigorous list of ten requirements for a potential husband.
Mapmaker Seth Ryann moved to the colony to assist his partially blind brother, a local missionary. They’ll soon return to Ireland, but first, Seth is tasked by a friend to find a treasure of gold hidden in the mountains. Seth has the map to the treasure, but he’s missing the key.
When he discovers Daisy somehow has the key, the two agree to search for the treasure together. They’re left with little choice but to quickly enter a marriage of convenience. As they venture into the wilderness and work together to overcome danger, an undeniable attraction grows. But will they find the treasure only to lose what matters most?

- Reviewed in the United States on July 2, 2024I enjoyed the first of the Bride Ship novels, so it was a treat to discover two new editions.
This was a great read, well paced, and characters that were easy to relate to. I found the story fresh and not at all, just a copy of the same concept. In fact, it skips the voyage, so you dive into the storyline quickly.
I highly recommend this, and though it is technically not required to read the first, I recommend it as well. It was a sweet read that should give you a bit of background and, therefore, clarity on a couple of points.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 30, 2024A quick pace, action, adventure, and love. His Treasured Bride is a thrilling read. My Fav and I enjoyed the path these two characters took to uncover treasure in wach other.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 24, 2024His Treasured Bride is the second in the Bride Ships: New Voyages series. Daisy Harper is a spunky young woman, having arrived on Vancouver Island on a bride ship, hoping to open a sewing shop to pay for her mother’s voyage from the old country. Having already turned down the offers of ten suitors, she unwittingly becomes involved in a treasure hunt, which she insists being part of, but which involves a marriage of convenience.
The opinionated Daisy has a husband-requirements list, which grows even after an imperfect wedding, and an adventure with her temporary husband, a handsome mapmaker named Seth Ryann. Blimey, she’d have to learn to ride a horse, and a lot more, before their marriage could be annulled as planned. Thanks to a wise and meddling landlady, a brother, and a trapper, Daisy and Seth work through preconceived notions and painful pasts.
What about the treasure? Follow Daisy and Seth on their trek through tricky clues, storms, bad guys, and difficult terrain as they hunt for the hoped-for gold. You’ll love the whole delightful adventure.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 22, 2024The main characters, Daisy and Seth, move through intrigue, danger, and many hardships in this novel. Their characters’ personality traits are clearly portrayed and richly evolve during the course of this story. The additional cast of characters form a stunning tapestry of support and wisdom as the story unfolds. The authors expertly weave in the history of the bride ships going from Manchester, England to the Pacific Northwest areas of Vancouver, Victoria, and surrounding towns and areas during the era of the ‘Gold Rush’ mining boom. They excel at showing, rather than telling, the areas’ history, geography, and cultures. Hurry to grab a copy of this thrilling historical romance!
- Reviewed in the United States on May 2, 2024Marriage of convenience is one of my favorite tropes, and I loved how that played out in this book! Adventurous and fun, I really enjoyed reading this story!
- Reviewed in the United States on June 13, 2024I enjoyed this story almost as much as I enjoyed Patti Stockdale's first novel. Even though this one was a bit predictable, it was compelling enough to keep reading to find out how the drama and the romance would resolve. The characters were charming and the setting was inviting. In the end, it was a satisfying read and a reminder that we can't always control our desired outcome. I'd love to see what Patti Stockdale writes next!
- Reviewed in the United States on July 26, 2024His Treasured Bride is a fun read with entertaining characters, an intriguing treasure hunt, and scenic landscape. Patti Stockdale is a wonderful visual writer. I can totally track with the action and see it playing out as I read. Her delightful turn of phrase keeps me smiling. I can’t wait to read more from this talented author.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 12, 2024This is a sweet story but the dialogue did not ring true for being set in 1860. The beginning is rushed and chaotic, the setting is not terribly fleshed out and there was little explanation of the bride ship or Vancouver Island. I understand it was the second book in the series but I would have liked more backstory in the beginning.
The characters are sweet and the premise was fine but it was a little slow until the end. Overall it was a sweet read.
